Iv'e been wanting to make a post about this for some time but haven't gotten around to it.
It's obvious why armor pieces are exotic and should be for good reason.
Guns such as Suros Regime, Hawkmoon, Hardlight, and a few other primaries right now just don't feel exotic... even Thorn.
Why even bother using a Hawkmoon now when Eyasluna and Palindrome just outperform it in every aspect? Why use an Auto-Rifle when a high RoF pulse rifle is basically that but better, or a Doctrin?
Basically we should just go ahead and remove some guns from the Exotic pool and drop them down to Legendaries or give them Life of the Exotic, because of they've been neutered.
I don't know if it's the nerfherd who should be blamed for this nonsense, or Bungie for caving in and actually nerfing the primaries because someone most likely got outplayed but blamed the primary for being "Too OP".

I don't understand how bungie can't nerf the weapons in pvp only. I remember when the mythoclast was a beast. Literally anyone no matter what skill level would dominate pvp with it. Then bungie over nerfed it and killed the weapon for both pvp and PVE. If they just made changes to make pvp equal there would be no problems.
-
No removals. Except maybe thorn ;) I think they should add elements to some if not all the primaries and maybe make all of them have intrinsic perks. Like when they revamped no time to explain and gave it headseeker as an intrinsic perk. Or like how Tlaloc the warlock exclusive exotic has grenadier built into it. I think that would give all the exotics a lot more viability and usage compared to a select few that get used in specific scenarios.

2 RepliesSeriously, does anyone even use Red Death anymore? It (theoretically) is a brilliant weapon. Fantastic perks, great stats, and looks brilliantly unique. But it's in the archetype of Pulse that is just horrible at the moment. It kills in the same amount of shots as other faster RoF pulses, but slower. The Red Death perk doesn't help when you're dead. Shame. I love that gun to death. My first Exotic.

Edited by PushedBean764: 10/16/2016 11:43:22 PMHate being forced to use CQB and Fitted Stock on Hard Light in order to control it's God awful stability and recoil control. It's got The stability of Khvostov without Braced Frame/Counterbalance

You guys want Popular exotics to be brought to their glory powers, but you say nothing about exotics that people don't using since the beginning. Yeah.
-
2 RepliesThe concept of exotics was perfect initially. The problem started with PvP. The use of exotic primaries was almost required since you always have primary ammo, and they gave you a significant edge in most gun fights. Suros healed you, red death healed you. The last word was a monster. Thorn was rediculous. The problem was that there were no legendaries to compete with them. Bungee wants the PvP community to have a broader range of options, and brought exotics down to a level comparable to legendaries, if only in the primary slot. Now most people run legendaries in their primary in both PvE and PvP. While OP is decent, exotic swords, Gjallarhorn, Black Spindle, or Invective just have a greater functionality. It's disappointing.

That's okay I just instantly infuse them into my supercell or Hawkshaw anytime I get higher level exotics ...yes it sucks but that's how bungie works

I believe Bungie has discussed this many times in the past. They are not nerfing weapons because people are complaining. They are simple rotating the pool so that it doesn't get boring using the same awesome weapons ALL the time. It makes sense. They just rotate what the current meta is every so often so a different weapon class has its day.
-
they already dropped faction exotics to legendary

3 RepliesEdited by RiDONkulous: 10/16/2016 2:19:53 AMI wonder if someone can demonstrably show that it's possible for a god roll set of all legendary gear to be better than an ENTIRE set of exotic gear. I think there are some circumstances where this might actually be true.... edit: point being, if this is true than exotics really have fallen from their pedestal.
-
Its just because the community is a bunch of crybabies not trying to be rude but its true they focus on things that don't need nerfs than things that do like shotguns those things are not balanced while fusion rifles are being given the finger it just doesn't make sense

1 ReplyI wish they would start being original , literally haven't had new content in awhile, yr 1 to yr two a lot of exotics were brought back year 2 to year 3 a lot of exotics where brought back as well as old things turned legendary like if I wanted to play year 1 I would

Edited by MtmanRABTKILRS: 10/16/2016 7:32:30 AMTo be quite honest, I agree with all the people who feel that the exotics don't really feel "exotic" anymore. When a person sees an exotic nowadays, they don't get excited when they see a yellow flashing box on the top right of their screen like people would do in year 1 because they know every year 1 or year 2 exotic has been nerfed hard. Destiny is very well an MMO if people feel like it's an MMO, but to be honest, I don't care because I play the game to have fun. I don't care for exotics or stats, I just honestly care about shooting heads of guardians or fallen and that's it. Nothing out of it but a bunch of silly yellow-boxed weapons that have barely any effect on anything. I did like Zhalo Supercell though. The thought of it being exotic and having this nostalgic look of an AK-47 is awesome and it has arc burn on it and I love it. I don't use it very much, but it was my go-to weapon for a lot of things. We need more exotics like Zhalo Supercell I'm my opinion. And bring back Vex Mythoclast

As long as they keep PvE and standard-FPS PvP sharing identical gear, we won't get anything that really warrants the Exotic label. You can't combine the ideal of a unique powerful item that only a rare few have with maintaining a level playing field where anyone can succeed. They could change their ideals for PvP of course, but they'd certainlt lose a certain wider appeal with FPS players if they made it more MMO-based where gear can be a huge difference.

8 RepliesYear 1 was ........ let's say fun !
-
Because when pvp sheep bleat, bungie says sorry to their mums. #ADD value, buff everything.
-
Because Bungie in their infinite wisdom shackled PvE to PvP instead of keeping them separate. Hence forevermore all weapons have to balance against each other.
-
2 RepliesSo true Suros Thorn Last word Red death All feel very lackluster Don't get me started on hawkmoon, hardlight or Boolean

Edited by ADISP0SABLEHER0: 10/19/2016 9:53:23 AMIn one of their updates( a long time ago) Bungie said they didn't want exotics to be "gamebreakers". Now most of us think an exotic should outperform other weapons but then comes the problem of a small specific meta of weapons if they do outperform legendaries. Basically, exotics are only supposed to "LOOK"exotic. This is the message we get indirectly through buffs/nerfs.

2 RepliesThe shinier the carrot the more the donkey will chase it.
-
8 RepliesTell you what's sad: The best DPS sniper in Y2 was a nerfed legendary Y1 sniper that was changed to take up an exotic slot.
-
Outside of the perks on the armor I honesty feel that some Legendaries are actually rarer than exotics, like the class specific gunsmith legendaries since there is no way to get duplicates(there should btw).
-
Every time any exotic is good, it gets nerfed. Vex. Suros. Thorn. Last word. Ice breaker. Gjallarhorn. Red death. Universal remote. Mida. Hawkmoon. Pocket infinity. Truth. Black hammer (lol). Bungie has robbed exotics of feeling powerful and special, and instead made them into utility. This is why getting loot in year 1 felt EXCITING and now it just feels meh unless you get a super god roll on your favorite legendary. Plus legendary weapons are so much better now than they were in year 1. They could bring back all vog weapons and they would feel underpowered. Damn power creep. MAKE EXOTICS GREAT AGAIN
-
Well... Bungie response will be "Nerfing" the good/fun guns (eyasluna, high rof pulse..etc.) instead buff back the garbage exotics to their ordinal fun/glory. Then we will have total all garbage guns.

1 ReplyPvP in Destiny is a joke without a punchline. It has no place in a loot-based game. Borderlands never had this issue, it left the brokenly good and awesome weapons the way they were. I quit Destiny a long time ago because of Bungie's insistence on listening to the PvP players instead of the people who actually play the main meat of the game. Exotics are useless now.
