  • I really wanna see Saint Asonia, but they don't have an album. Well, I still want to spread Adam Gontier's voice. Can some Three Day's Grace fan share an album? I didn't discover his music back then.

  • Well, this isn't about personal favorites. This is about collecting the pieces of music that absolutely best define a genre. Not only do we have to consider the quality of music, but the influence this music had on future music.

  • I haven't actually heard Three Days Grace's music, but before 2013 Adam Gontier was the lead vocalist, and he has (in my opinion, of course) the best male voice. Do as you wish, I understand if I wanted to hear everyone agree with me I shouldn't have come on the internet.

  • Jimi Hendrix should fit into classic rock, specifically, "Are You Experienced". From psychedelic (Manic Depression) to blues (Wind Cries Mary), Jimi could play it all. Not to mention he influenced many guitarists like Kirk Hammet (Metallica), Joe Satriani, and Steve Vai (you know him from the Halo 2 soundtrack).

To my knowledge, classic rock typically refers to 50's-70's rock. The White Stripes would probably fit under alternative rock.

  • For punk rock I definitely feel The Clash deserve a place, though which album to go for I couldn't say.

  • I feel like Green Day should get some representation in Punk Rock. Either American Idiot or 21 Guns. My vote is for American Idiot, but I'm open to other opinions.

  • I already proposed Dookie in a different sub thread. I still vote American Idiot because I think it's more essential.

  • To me, the most important part of punk rock has been, to put it informally, to flip the bird to the establishment and to do so energetically. American Idiot does that in heaps, which is why I find that album to be so important. The songs American Idiot and Holiday are the two obvious examples, but I can see what you mean in that some of the other songs stray from the basic punk elements. I would still argue that in spite of that, the album still retains a punkish feel. However, I'm open to opposing arguments. Perhaps you could totally change my mind on that. What does punk rock mean to you and why does American Idiot stray from that?

  • We're talking about real punk rock here, not wannabe punk rockers who actually make punk pop.

  • How is it not punk rock? What makes it punk pop?
