Update killed the ability to level you Light
Before the recent update, my rare's were always just about the same as my light level or a little higher. And legendries were just a little higher than that. It continued to be that way til the update and I was light level 297. After the update, every single rare is between 240-250, legendary is 260-270 and exotics are all about 300 (my current light level)
Why are the drops a fixed low light level now? I was steadily grinding towards 300 and now everything is complete crap and not helping level at all. Ill be stuck at 300 if this continues. This needs fixed.

6 RepliesI find this ridiculous. People are trying to make a push for 335 before rise of iron and this renders it nearly impossible if not completely impossible to do.

3 RepliesEveryone should just take a break until the DLC launches. It's obviously a scaling issue thanks to the update to prepare for RoI. No point fighting the system, it'll fix itself when the game goes live. PS. I don't think what's going on is ok, just that there's no point getting upset. It'll fix itself in a week.

8 RepliesThis seems to be an XB1 specific problem, because a friend of mine on PS4 has had no problem getting over 300 light items from blue and purple engrams. Bungie do not seem to be acknowledging there is a problem. There is no mention of it in the known issues section for the new update. Best thing for now seems to be save your legendary engrams until after the 20th and rise of iron hits.

2 RepliesIt's getting frustrating that Bungie hasn't even acknowledged this issue as far as I can see. If it is by design then they should have said something before kicking out the update. Or at the very least made a post-update note that said "Oh, btw, all engram drops are nerfed to scale out with new gear to drop Tuesday the 20th. Good luck leveling in the meantime!" That is, of course, if it was intentional. If this is an "Oops!" moment on Bungie's part then they should at the very least note it in the [url=https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/212588532?sort=0&page=0]list of known issues[/url] to acknowledge it's an issue they are aware of. But despite seeing and hearing about this problem on forums and Reddit I have yet to see an official comment from Bungie. Friends and I have run several level 41 POE and heroic strike playlists with 310+ light level characters hoping to catch at least a single engram over lvl 300. Even Three of Coins seem to only cause Legendary drops now, and those are still under 300 light. My two alternate characters need gear to get leveled up and I can't pick up anything anywhere. Barring grinding the TTK raid for gear I can't see anyway for the casual player that wasn't already high level before the update to prepare for the new DLC. Also, where is the pre-launch activities they were buzzing about?? Aside from private matches and a new launch screen I haven't seen anything of note to ramp up for DLC launch. Even HoW (most disappointing DLC ever imho) had two weeks of buildup where you hunted out HoW events and snagged Treasure Keys and gear.

Some of us did challenge of elders last evening and even the drops from that didn't help them in terms of light level.

Am finding 1 in every 80-100 engrams has a light level above 300.... but still wtf!!!

Same here... 320 light player everything I get is 240 or less. Don't even want to play anymore.

4 RepliesBecause the XBO negative exclusive is screwing everything up for engram and most loot drops, these are what I've found to be the best way to level up: -TTK quest lines -Petra TTK quest line (320 dreadfang for infusion) -strike specific loot -any faction package i.e. vanguard, crucible, dead orbit, etc. Anything else will drop you 250 max weapons or 260 max armor, GL. The grind just got more stressful. Thank you for screwing XBO yet again, Bungie.

6 RepliesUnfortunately drops are going to be this way until the 20th. If you still need gear the 41 PoE is still dropping up to 320 blues from the end chest.

This is what keeps you playing. It's bingies way. We are all chasing light that will take a while to earn. At 300, 320 335, or what ever max light is next.

7 RepliesIt would appear so. Sort of feel sorry for those new players only now taking up the game only to find they are in the wrong place at the wrong time without a chance of a paddle. But then again so much has changed for them, it begs the question, should you feel sorry for them? I don't think so on refection. They will never get to fight the wolves or crotas minions who used to try to roam freely on Earth. Do you thick they will know the systems not in their favour? idk My only advice, is to stock up on heavy ammo and engrams for when the dlc hits. Plus, there are reports of people getting to 336+ light so perhaps RNG hasn't changed, it's us.

2 RepliesI agree this is a little messed up. Got my brother into Destiny: he's pretty low light (200 ish). the drops don't help anymore. I imagine the update is intended to allow leveling for 330+ guardians beginning 9/20.

do the raid on normal, then do nightfall/challange of elders, then do raid on hard. there your now 325

This update was posted and downloaded on the wrong, very wrong date. Is insane and absurd asking paid player to stop action or hold their growing path for a whole day (instead of overnight update) and then weeks (As fans here suggested.). The 19th would sound a more logic date. This update or changes in game rules is not justified weeks before a game area we can't play yet. The communication was not effective. But money talk and...
