So the title sounds a little harsh, but I'm honestly just baffled and looking for genuine answers. The King's Fall raid has been out for almost a calendar year. However, there are still a lot of guardians who are unable to perform the platform jumping at daughter's or know which plate to go back to (the argument over plates or numbers being a big problem at daughter's).
Question 1: Why do people insist on doing numbered plates at daughter's? A good group should be able to adapt to either method. However, when you're in a PUG or with less experienced players keeping the same plates is the safest option. No one has to stop and look for the relic and then count until they figure out which plate to run to. You just run to the same plate unless you're torn and then at that time you would call out your plate position for the previous torn person to cover that plate. Easy Peasy. AND YET people insist on doing numbers so that these newbs can all stand around with pee dripping into their tireless striders not knowing where to run to. I don't get it.
Question 2: Why can't people platform jump after all of this time? Enough said. WHAT THE F!!!!
I did LFG last night and some titan put a bubble on top of the group trying to shoot at Ir Anuk. OMG. Needless to say it was too frustrating to take my baby huntress (who I created on Saturday) through the raid.
Before King's Fall was released I believe Bungie put out a stat saying that only around 17% of guardians had completed a raid. I would bet that number is even lower with the King's Fall Raid and (in my opinion) is the reason the Rise of Iron raid will be dumbed down for people and will not be *as* fun to run. Instead of requiring skill and execution (as well as light level) the RoI raid will see success more based on how high your light level is rather than light level and performance in the raid. WHY is this necessary? Are people no longer born with opposable thumbs?
Information on the new raid was taken from http://gamerant.com/destiny-rise-iron-raid-level-wrath-machine/ which is taking it from the Game Informer interview.
This is the internet so I'm sure all of you snarks will have something to say but I am not trying to be mean in any way here, I am genuinely befuddled.

I've lead many newbies through kings fall, and I prefer to teach them the hard mode challenge versions of each boss fight. My opinion on kings fall is that it's like riding a bike, if you can learn to do it once, you can do it again every single time. I have however encountered people that are either completely unable to pay attention for longer than the flaps of hummingbird wings, and people who are just so unmotivated to even try and attempt the "hard jobs" that sometimes I just ask the rest of the team to vote/kick the bad seed off the island. Kings fall is easier than vog, it simply requires coordination and patience. The reason beltane looks so good with a certain cloak is because oryx is a cosmic joke.

1 ReplyWhats the challenege this week for the raid?
-
Ive never done crota or oryx if i attempted either right now, i know i would be horrible
-
Some people havent played the raid in awhile and are rusty. My first crucible match was terrible when I got back into Destiny via Iron Banner last week. Now Im going to try and attempt the warpriest challenge so I can hopefully get a 335 heavy. The last thing I want to do is bring the team down but its not easy practicing for a raid.

Vog is the happy medium between CE and KF. That's why people love it so much. You need the dps and mechanics. But not all mechanics. It makes the entry for newer players too high and it gets boring quick for the experienced. Just my two cents.
that article was terrible....

vog didn't get "easy" until after the light level was bumped up and the content was old. Even then if people didn't the basics you got smoked.
Well, i havent played for 3 months so i dont really remember how to.

2 RepliesI've gone through with a few new groups and it sucks. I've only completed the raid a handful of times and get asked to do it all the time. Always say no too much time too much a commitment and I've been there when someone throws a bubble up at the daughters seriously wtf !! I replied to another pose about a dude who took over an hour and a half to make it through the -blam!-ing ships. Not even joking. The first day trying to get through the raid when it was new was fun and quite funny but after a few times no thanks. Now if someone invited me for vault of glass or even Crotas I would jump on the opportunity. Those are a blast and one bad seed can be recovered from.

4 RepliesI like the fact that you say you are not trying to be mean. I've never completed kings fall because I don't have a group of six to raid with. And if I'm not going to do it anytime soon, I don't look up guided videos to figure it out. So when I do get in a raid I don't know how to do stuff and fail the first few times because I'm new to it. I'm thinking people that you're experiencing are the same way.

Joined a group with 3 friends and two LFG randoms. We were doing golgoroth challenge, but it did not seem as though we were doing enough damage. Sure enough it is because their is a dude who is not jumping in too do do damage. He literally never shot golgoroth except to take his gaze. Somehow we still managed to explain it to him and get it done, it was a miracle

I agree 100%, sometimes it takes me 4 to 5 different raid teams to complete a raid.

4 RepliesWhats a raid? 😅😅😉

1 ReplyEdited by WmShakespeare: 8/24/2016 1:47:50 AMBecause KF is a complete ass-phuck with shitty drops and no one really gives a shit anymore. Maybe you should try not giving a shit so much, you may have more fun.
Oh crap, I just went and used the "F" word. That's right, I said "fun".
Some people kind of like me are just too lazy to do them
-
1 ReplyI don't want to platform jump. I left Mario behind with my super nintendo.
-
1 ReplyI don't mind them going back to a VoG style raid, but I hope in the future it's in between that an KF. KF is just so tedious right now. But at the same time I feel like I can leisurely play through VoG without thinking about too much.

5 RepliesRaids simply arent fun.

6 RepliesEdited by SebastienC: 8/24/2016 2:34:52 AMWell, some people are just starting, or just starting to raid. It does not matter how long the game has been out. It's a good thing, it shows the game still attracts new players after all this time.
Question 1: Why do people insist on doing numbered plates at daughter's?
I dunno. I prefer doing it with fixed numbers too, for the reasons you mention. I agree that it's easier for beginners, even later against Oryx.
Question 2: Why can't people platform jump after all of this time?
Probably because there is no platforming at all anywhere in the whole game except in KF. Also, you have to do it 3rd person when the rest of the game is 1st, with a totally overdone, jarring monochrome/ghostly/distortion filter messing up your depth perception. The only place you can train for this is there, with 5 other people waiting for you to not fail. I speak only for myself but I am a novice, but decent raider, who can do all the jobs without messing up (too often). I've studied the vids, read the guides, got the gear, and I listen. But the damn platforming, I just don't do it often enough, I suck at it, and I hate it. It would be nice to have at least some similar platforming in a few strikes, just to get the hang of it. Because once you're at the Daughters with 5 strangers and you get picked to go 2nd, It's kinda scary.

Couldn't have said it better myself!! 100+ clears on KF HM and I think it's by far the best raid when you do it with a group you're comfortable with and know how to do their part. Your part about the people that insist on doing numbers over assigned platforms on daughters is the hell I experience every time some PUG from LFG says "I'll take plate 2" as soon as someone gets torn. Luckily I have a solid raid team I play with every week on all three characters. The people who think this raid isn't fun just aren't doing it with the right people. KF is hands down the biggest challenge in the game and I enjoy challenges. If anyone else still enjoys KF hit me up because I'm always down to do a fresh run.

Edited by Chlorian: 8/24/2016 2:37:59 AMI think the only ones still doing it through LFG - or in general - at this point are those who have struggled with it in the past or are new. LFG used to be pretty decent but then I got bored and didnt try it for a couple of months. Horrible, HORRIBLE, expereince. Those folks couldnt even reach the first boss. The expereinces I had there put me off raiding so much that I'm not even excited for the ROI raid anymore.

3 RepliesI got into a game with a 335 who's never done the raid
-
My guess (and this assumes the people you're talking about have completed the raid before) is that not everyone works well together. I joined one team where a player kept bossing me around and telling me to speak up after I had said I've done this raid enough to know how it works. He complained constantly about how non communicative I was and when it was at a crucial point he'd fail to communicate. It infuriated me because he was friends with the guy that invited me to the party and I beat Skolas with this guy. It was painful to play the raid that night and I honestly haven't gone back into it because of that experience. In vault of glass I played with children, in Crotas end I was carried (also not fun) by elitists, in taken king I played with man children. I wonder what kind of toxic gamer personality will be most prevalent in rise of iron?
-
All a raid needs is 1 veteran player who's able to make quick call outs on stuff like daughters and be able to tell the inexperienced players which plate can be ignored and where they need to be before they actually need to be there.
-
In answer to the title because i only did it once and dont intend to do it again
-
I hate lfg so I only play with friends so that means I don't raid often. It takes me a while to get into the swing of things again. Can't be helped. I can't make my friends have time to raid and lfg is actually cancer transformed. So all in all I don't get much practice.
-
I don't raid often. But it's astounding to me how many people struggle with the jumping part during the fight with oryx. I mean I know not everyone grew up playing platformers. but still.

Kids.
