I haven't seen anyone other than myself try this, but during the boss encounter, in the center of that room you are able to jump on top of those little spike things that are near the top of each of the four pillars.
This way (assuming everyone that is alive is on top at the same time), Alak-Hul and his cronies are left unable to do anything.
It's actually quite funny to see for the first time because he will just stand there looking at you while you pump in damage. He will occasionally disappear like normal, but then reappear and stand completely still again.
