Can someone explain how anything other than the hive is a threat to guardians at this point?
We killed oryx who killed a worm God who killed his sisters
And according to sword logic that would make us stronger, right ?

Also, relating to the sword logic thing, I've heard stuff about toland that is kind of unsettling. Along the lines of being the new taken King.
-
Honestly, it doesn't make sense why we aren't the new Taken King, because then we could command the Taken to defend the Solar System.
-
What really doesn't make sense is this. The vex. They actually invaded oryxes throne world and waged a hundred year war that only ended because oryx himself intervened. They have all these vast resources and dimensions at their disposal. It's almost like they're not even trying to beat us. So if we killed oryx and defeated the taken, wouldn't it seem like the vex with their logic would see us as very high target threats or resources and attempted to ally with us to understand our power, or simply use the resources at their command? Oryx states in the books of sorrow that the vex are his equal, they have always existed and always will. So maybe they've spared us because we are a simulation. There's some really convincing arguments that the world of destiny is simply a vex simulation and is backed by several grimriore cards.

I theorize that the Vex might be unable to Time-shenanigan us out of existence because Guardians are paracausal.
-
Paracasualty doesn't make sense though It's counterintuitive in anything other than a thought experiment or on a piece of paper Frankly I'm just saying it's just poor writing/story telling
-
I'm not just randomly bringing it up, things in the lore are described as paracausal and/or acausal, namely the Sky and the Deep, the former of which we're empowered by. For exemple during the fight against Atheon, after you come back from the portals and get the Time's Vengeance buff, a message on the screen says "Guardians make their own fate". This basically means we can ignore their time-warping powers, while inside a pocket universe that they built where they control everything. We also grow more powerful from killing enemies in-story (Speaker saying "your Light is stronger than when we last met" for one) similar to the Hive's Killing Logic. Also, while in gameplay mechanics it's the opposite, our gear is made more powerful by us using it, this is why we can kill gods with bullets, because the guns are merely channels for the Light.
-
No I get what you're saying It's just that the concept of paracasuality or basically what is causes happen because of an effect Doesn't make much sense unless you're willing to just chalk it up as "space magic"
-
Well aside the "small minds might call it magic" thing, basically ya. The fact that Venus is a garden world is all you need to know how many -blam!-s the Traveler gives about physics or logic.
-
That explains the BS RNG, am I right? On a more serious note, it would explain the technological progress of Earth. Maybe the Vex were experimenting with what could happen given the arrival of a seemingly god-like entity (i.e. The Traveler). Or maybe they were testing what we would do if we were driven to near-extinction...
-
It's kinda like succumbing to the dark side. You can use your powers for good, but you can't, because you're evil. I dunno, it's just a storytelling thing most stories use.
-
Well we don't follow sword logic, so even though we defeated them, we didn't get any stronger than we already are. However, since we beat them we could probably beat most anything else. The vex are dangerous because they deep into every time stream, every possibility there can be in each strand of time. They are in every time and every place, making it to where they will come out on top in every single time stream. And they learn from everything, including their encounters with the hive. The cabal are deadly because, even though there's only a fraction of their military power located in our solar system, they have the strength to pretty much take over whatever they want. If they call in major backup (which happened in Outbound Signal because the cabal here are crippled and NEED backup now) we're pretty much screwed. The fallen are probably the least dangerous; they are scavengers, but they have massive numbers, are spread everywhere, and are very innovative. They would have killed us all if the Awoken hadn't attacked the Wolves and started the Reef Wars, and they could probably kill us now if they actually worked together (I vote Variks for Kell of Kells, he is perfect and also a clear example of Dreg of Dregs). Also, we know nothing of the House of Kings (I was hoping the Lords of Iron would feature them, but nope, they just used the Devils again)
-
Dreg of Gregs (ftfy)
-
What does "ftfy" mean?
-
Fixed that for you.
-
Lol alright
-
But we do follow sword logic That's the entire point of the exotic sword quest
-
Ok yes, sry forgot about that. We don't follow it to the extent that the hive does. We do use it for swords, but we also refused it by not becoming the Taken King after killing Oryx. We do not follow the Deep/Darkness and couldn't use sword logic the same way as the hive, anyway. The hive gain the strength and knowledge of those they defeat, we do not. We were stronger than Oryx, but didn't want his strength or knowledge, we didn't accept the Deep. The swords we wielded required the strength gained from defeating enemies, so it was more the sword than us (since it had been Oryx's sword).
-
But wouldn't that be a case of killing logic( as opposed to sword logic) Where by defeating oryx we've proven ourselves the most powerful beings in our solar system at the moment Which would mean we've an army of guardians on par with if not stronger than a worm God(akka)
-
Not an army, just the handful who killed Oryx, or arguably just "your" guardian.
-
It's got to be at least 6 though I think they acknowledge that it was a fire team at some point, I could be wrong though. But even still that would be 6 oryx power level being that work very well together Not sure why anything would attempt to challenge that other than maybe the vex or other members of the hive pantheon
-
Ya, or at least (if you want to really low ball it) a raid fireteam who each have roughly 1/6th of his power level. Which is probably still considerably above anything else we've seen or heard about barring other Worm Gods and his sisters. But I would discount that low-balling because I remember reading something about how Oryx could not be hurt so long as he kept "conquering" and would only be harmed if he met his match. Which sounds to me like he can't be defeated by weaker foes, you have to be more powerful than him to do damage basically. Not sure how that gels with gameplay exactly though. Are all 6 members stronger than Oryx or are "you" the one 1337 badass. They tend to imply that here and there for various other things, like I did Crota's End and when I would approach Eris she'd say "YOU killed Crota" as if I personally dealt the killing blow, even though I never pulled sword duty.
-
Yes that is completely correct. The thing is, our enemies don't care if we've beaten the most powerful being on any side (even if it was on their side. We beat Oryx, but the hive and taken will never stop fighting). They will still throw everything they have at is with the belief that they will win, that they will succeed where others haven't. No matter how many we kill, there will always be more
