Okay, so Blizzard's Overwatch penalty system is as follows:
If you leave a match early while your team is losing, you will get an XP penalty for future games.
Oh, and God forbid you're one of those stupid cheaters, because you'll get a PERMANENT BAN!
So, what's your opinion on this system?

Yes. It's a middle finger to the rage quitters.
-
Yes. Punishments for abandoning your team or cheating should be severe.

1 ReplyYes. All for it.

BLIZZARD WITH THE MIGHTY BIG BANHAMMER

1 ReplyYes i agree with it Cheaters on an online match deserve to be burned at stakes.

Think they should be more strict with the rage quitters penalty, when competitive launches. I found out how bad rage quitting was, on the BF4 forum. Dice track your stats. I'd say only around 5% of the whole community, have under 10% for quitting. I rarely quit games, have never been hit with a penalty in Overwatch. You got to take your licks on the chin, we all lose games. Them scrubs never quit, when they're on a winning team. I've no time for cheaters, they deserve their permanent bans, for ruining legit players experience.

I agree with this

2 RepliesSince apparently no one on these forums knows how to use Google, here is how the leaver policy works directly from Bliz:
We've seen similar questions about how the leaver penalty currently works in Quick Play (both here and on social media), so here’s a bit more information: If you leave too many games and your “games played” vs “games completed” percentage falls below our required threshold, you will receive a warning message (this percentage is calculated based on your 20 most recent games). If you continue to leave games after receiving a warning (which will display in the lower left-hand corner of your screen), you will incur a 75% EXP penalty on all future games. The penalty isn’t time-based, but instead will be removed once you complete enough games to raise your “games played” vs “games completed” percentage above our required threshold (again, this percentage is calculated based on your 20 most recent games). If you disconnect or are removed due to inactivity from a game, it will count the same as if you leave the game intentionally. If you leave a game before the “Assemble Your Team” phase is over (i.e. before you enter your starting spawn rooms): It won’t count as a game played You will not be considered a “leaver” in this scenario If you leave a game after the match ends (i.e. after you see the VICTORY/DEFEAT screen): It will count as a game played—and if your team won, it will count as a win You will not be considered a “leaver” in this scenario If you leave a game after the “Assemble Your Team” phase is over, but before the match ends: It will count as a game played You will be considered a “leaver” in this scenario Hopefully that helps! If you see the game behaving in a way that's different from what's listed above, be sure to let us know by posting in the Bug Report forum.
Love it. Quitting is for rehab. Cheat, die...die....die

Edited by ALIAS-F4LS: 6/15/2016 5:18:27 PMKind of grey on the leaving penalty since I know some friends of mine just have that bad of Internet so they would probably be getting -75% penalties all day long but I do hate the people who jump into a game, realize they are probably going to lose then stroll off because their precious K/D or they are simply whiney. As for the cheaters get permanent ban. Hang on a sec... do you hear that? That's the sound of sweet bliss as that guy who was shooting through walls just got mashed by the ban hammer.

The penalty system is a great idea.
-
Imo it's better than the Battleborn system that penalizes the team rather than the player that left.

Edited by TreeMan_X: 6/15/2016 3:33:23 PMDoes it count if I quit the game once the defeat thing comes across the screen? I only stick around for one match cause I always lose and an not very good at all, so before the defeat thing can even get on the screen I immediately quit the game, skipping all the epic and potg crap. Does this count and will I lose exp? Edit: nvm got my question answered.

It makes sense, the game is about fun and if you abandon your team your almost condem them to lose
-
That sounds perfect. Every multiplayer game should have this system
-
Destiny needs to do this NOW. how many losers that leave matches to protect their pvp kd is out of control.
-
Sounds perfect
-
Just a few notes: Leaving one match won't give you a penalty. You have to quit a few. The penalty is a 75% reduction in XP gain. To remove the penalty you have to play 20 matches without quitting any.
-
A friend of mine summed it up perfectly. "I'd rather take a hit to my XP than put up with the shit i've found in random groups". I don't play Overwatch but I play MMO's that have a penalty for leaving groups. I'd rather eat penalties like that than force myself to put up with a shit group.
-
Discouraging quitters and arse raping cheaters sounds perfect.
-
I'm perfectly fine with it. Don't screw over your team because you think stats matter or because you don't like one character. A very shitty team can pull off some unexpected clutch victories. Plus the penalty isn't bad. It's minus 100 XP for every game. You get it back pretty quickly.
-
I agree with Blizzard
-
That is good, most games are soft on cheaters, and very rarely permaban them
-
Edited by Devious_Melons: 6/14/2016 10:04:13 PMI was a recipient of the penalty, the thing was the servers were so taxed that I couldn't find a stable game. Or I would get kicked for connection issues.
-
Their game their rules, I have no problem with it.
-
Great system. They should consider banning people who quit too much.
