This makes alot of sense. The only thing that bothers me about this theory is that "supposedly" Guardians are dead, and that Oryx has the ability to only "take" living organisms (Which explains why Vex Harpies and Fallen Servitors are always normal because they are machines). However, this makes sense to me because I always tried to figure out what that dimension that we got transported was. In the Oryx raid, when we fight the Shade of Oryx, that dimension is called the Darkness Dimension. So if this is the same dimension that we are teleported to in the Oryx fight on Regicide (because there is no debuff or anything to signify) then this may be true and Oryx possibly new how to Take us, but because we were not living beings, he had to physically fight us to possibly supress our Light (Which is confirmed by his statement "The Travelers light cant reach you here") in order to take us.
did i just rant a little and agree with you overall?

Technically guardians are alive again. They used to be dead but with a little Windex, some toilet paper, a senile tiger, and some Light, you can bring back anyone! :D
Dont ask about the senile tiger. It wasn't me and it didn't inspire me to have my name
Edited by Roasted: 6/6/2016 12:08:01 PMAll the vex are machines. As said by ghost. "Indestructible machines called... The Vex. Guardian's used to have sensors to track them. Let's get them back online." -Dinklebot Well, crap. I meant Guardians, not Guardian's

Edited by TGI Skuldier: 6/6/2016 9:44:10 PMVex mind cores are organic in nature though. Go back and play the mission where you have to track down the gatelord. Ghost goes on a little monologue about the cores being organic but not matching any known species.

Dead and Abiotic are two very different things

This is true. Never thought of that

We're not dead anymore. We're not alive either. But I think we're alive enough to be taken

I believe this was him testing to see if he could take a guardian. He's never been presented with a guardian before, so why not test, as it is his very law to learn and understand. You are right, he can't take dead things, but I don't think he knew if he was able take something that was resurrected. It would appear he can't.

Ascendant Hive have the ability to die in the real but maintain their essence in the Ascendant plane in such a manner that they are able to return to the real if their strength in the Ascendant plane is sufficient to will such a return. This is no half death, it is full death in the real. Oryx seems to have no issue with taking Ascendant Hive, so I fail to see why the full death of a Guardian prior to rebirth would be an issue. Guardians aren't walking corpses, they are fully alive - even more fully alive than they ever were to begin with as they can store & manipulate the living Light. No, Oryx never takes us because we never accept the knife. We never accept his supremacy and suborn our survival to his. The process of taking is two fold - Fist the creature being taken must accept that Oryx's Truth is the final Truth of the universe; that the Darkness is supreme and that submission to Oryx by dying is helping the universe towards it's final perfect form. Second the creature being taken must accept the appeal to their greed that by accepting death and the knife of Oryx they can maintain their personal existence for longer than if they choose to fight, and that their personal survival is the most important thing to them. The best example being the alien avian Queen who takes a Taken form and wipes out her own civilisation only to continue her own existence. So because we Guardians fail to accept Oryx's Truth, and fail to submit to his killing mercy, he is unable to take us. Of course this would have been better told in game if the loss of these fights resulted in us being taken, rather than just the standard Destiny wipe screen...

Agreed.
