What would happen if we embrace the deep and draw power from it? Will we be able to cleanse it or will it control us? Will we be able to take or gain another power. Maybe the ability to give will?

Guardians are beings of light. Embracing the deep would be like drinking acid instead of water.

If we did then we would go insane. But for reasons, we the main character.... can probably pull it off. Toland and Dredgen both went insane about the Darkness. Toland's physical body died because of Ir Yüt, the Deathsinger but his essence or his mind is still alive and he is currently moving through the Hive Netherworlds. He did converse with us when we slew Oryx. He however complained that we did not claim the power of the Taken King for ourselves and that it was foolish for us to leave instead. We could have claimed the power... but we just up and left. Now we have created a power vacuum but as long as we are not defeated then NO ONE can claim Oryx's power.

14 RepliesThe Darkness is antithetical to the Light. As a Guardian you are a being of Light. Guardians don't have a good history of dabbling with the Darkness.

I'll become death itself.

I wish the darkness would have made a dark guardian (the opposite of "guardian") a one off that we could have encountered thought the 10 year plan and maybe eventually we would have swayed him or her to the light side to become our ally or give its life up saving us... bah too much to ask for...

5 RepliesEdited by Smedl: 5/31/2016 8:16:35 PMYou're an animated corpse held together by light. The dark is the complete opposite of light, so if you tried absorb it surely bad things would happen. Best case scenario: you are stripped of light and fall to darkness, like dregen yor. Worst case scenario: you die. I can see that as a book: the deep and (maybe) you. Has a nice ring to it.
