Their passives are about 100% useless.
If you want a magicka anything make it a high elf or Breton.
Stam dps redguard orc khajiit bosmer
Tank go imperial redguard orc.
In reality the passives don't mean much and you can play pretty much anything, but nord and argonians are abysmally awful.
Dunmer are only good as magicka sorcs or dks but high elf is all around better.
Bruh I'll be the first to tell you that the race dosent matter in the long run. I've stamina tanked on a high elf and got the same stats as a imperial. I actually had more health now that I think about it.
Health isn't as important on tanks. Stam and resistance cap is. I heal on orc mag templar. But I started as stamplar and would rather be Breton or altmer for magicka.
But if you had the opportunity to min max, why wouldn't you? That's why I'm telling him now since he just started.
I would disagree you on health isint as important as resistance and stamina. Tanks generally need more health than a dps or a healer. As for stam what if they're a magicka build?
Tanks are kind of a ball of clay but building for mostly stam I land at 25k life and about 31k stam. It's a permablock build which requires more stam than anything. Before I made actual gear I was about 20k life and 26k stam, which was still fine.
I'm also talking about stam dk tank specifically. Should have mentioned that. There are other class tank builds with different stat requirements.
