Real year ones don't reset characters and boost stats because you're afraid of what mlg wanna-be hipster kids might think of your f'n k/d.
Real year 1's don't give 2 apple farts about what gun and subclasses an unemployed begging streamer uses, because we learned (about 20 nerfs/buffs ago) to use whatever the hell our thumbs tell us feels right.
Real year 1 players wear the earlier days troubles AND our stats like an f'n badge of honor.
Don't f'n talk about the originals here, unless you are one.
If you're a year one player and you've reset for that reason, then youre not a scrub....
.... your a SCRATCH.
And yes , we can tell who you are.
Since we're on the subject (and I'm blinded by rage) what else defines REAL year 1rs?
Edit: Great responses people. I'm really digging the individual stories about your history with your characters.
To those who remember resetting for VOG and CE runs, I got no issue with that as it was a real struggle to reach that max.
Edit 2: spartaboy777 said it best and really captured what I mean, but with a bit more eloquence.
For those of you that are year 2, welcome. This post was in no way directed towards you.

If I reset all my characters can I keep my gear in the vault?

2 RepliesEdited by bobIin the goblin: 4/7/2016 1:35:58 PMdoes starting in HoW make me a year one? if so i'm a "schratch" because i've reset my hunter twice fr the heck of it (and nothig else) because i like playing through the story like some kind of weirdo. oh and you can check my hunter stats they may be a bit higher but they still don't gimme braggin rights because i suck in crucible and am a suppressor nade troll or nova bomber more than anything

I am a Day 1 player and frankly I can care less about K/D stats (as my profile with attest) but I have done well in PVP despite that. It takes (or at least back then it took) much to long to rank up a character for me to ever consider deleting one. Originally I was going to have all 3 classes but after developing a Warlock and a Hunter I decided it would be much less work just to add another Warlock and share gear. Now if they ever allow us to add another character I would love to make a Titan.

I am a year 1 and rock my 1.3 k/d
-
I restarted my character because I hated the way they look, and I'm a day 1 player
-
3 RepliesMy stats in year one were not good, but now I'm slowly bringing my kd higher than 1 and my elo in trials is rising slowly. I embrace my improvement rather than try to fake my skill
-
My warlock and hunter here since day one.
-
I approve this post. Had a 1.4 KD back then. When High impact pulse rifles ruled all. been stuck at 1.0 since TTK released.
-
1 ReplyI reset because I'm an idiot and misclicked X and realized my mistake a second to too late and hit X to confirm deletion
-
If you have the acheivement/trophy for getting your first ship the day destiny came out, youre a true year one vet.
-
Can't argue with this. I'd agree. Why the hell is kdr that important in what is probably the worst fps for PvP. It's like being at the top of the crap pile. I made two Titans and a Warlock to start, and deleted one of my Titans to make a Huntard. Why? I don't know, I hardly play it, but I wanted one of each class.
-
2 RepliesLast time I reset any characters was during dark below. Solely so I could run crota and vog twice a week on a character.

When the next new meta is discovered, I'll be beasting with the MIDA [a gun I haven't used for a little more than a year].
-
1 ReplyNever deleted a character here mate and only just getting my stat's back! Check my Hunter over 30,000 kills and deaths lol!
-
Never have, never will delete my guardians... I worked on my kd the hard way... My locks was 0.64 before trials came out...recovered it to 1.4 to get in with the guardians tough enough to go to the lighthouse... Eventually made it, checked it off the bucket list, and I'm never going back, lol...

4 RepliesEdited by drackiller: 4/7/2016 11:31:56 AMDay one Alpha, Beta and the game it self, never restarted one char. All original from the beggining and proud of my ridiculous stats. ;)

1 ReplyWhat about year one players who reset their character because they looked like a prolapsed anus?
-
1 ReplyI was going to reset my warlock just because I don't like the way he looks right now, but then I realized that I would lose all of the stats and playtime on him. In the end it wouldn't be worth it, but I do hope they add in a feature to allow changes to your character to be made.

I'M UGLY AND I'M PROUD!

HE'LL YEAH!!

1 ReplyReal year 1 here. I see so many skrubs deleting characters, have a higher kd than me and get pooped on by any weapon I use while they use thorn. I got pooped on when I started but stil maintained a pretty good kd and survived every meta not always using said meta. Don't pubstomp either
-
5 RepliesI will never reset I'm a bad pvp player and proud of it.
-
12 RepliesReal year 1's are taking a break from destiny at the moment.
-
More like kd is not an indicator of skill

1 ReplyEhh stats aren't the only reason to reset a character. I completed every quest ttk had to offer on my hunter a week or 2 after srl came out. So there's boredom. I had a warlock & titan before then I deleted them for hunters to make it easier to get to 30. 3 vog completions every week for a month & still no helmet so I got rid of 2 hunters & started a new titan & warlock. So there's that.

1 ReplyOnly reason I restarted a character is because Destiny is my only game (other than madden and NHL) so I get bored with things quickly when my clan mates aren't on.
