Real year ones don't reset characters and boost stats because you're afraid of what mlg wanna-be hipster kids might think of your f'n k/d.
Real year 1's don't give 2 apple farts about what gun and subclasses an unemployed begging streamer uses, because we learned (about 20 nerfs/buffs ago) to use whatever the hell our thumbs tell us feels right.
Real year 1 players wear the earlier days troubles AND our stats like an f'n badge of honor.
Don't f'n talk about the originals here, unless you are one.
If you're a year one player and you've reset for that reason, then youre not a scrub....
.... your a SCRATCH.
And yes , we can tell who you are.
Since we're on the subject (and I'm blinded by rage) what else defines REAL year 1rs?
Edit: Great responses people. I'm really digging the individual stories about your history with your characters.
To those who remember resetting for VOG and CE runs, I got no issue with that as it was a real struggle to reach that max.
Edit 2: spartaboy777 said it best and really captured what I mean, but with a bit more eloquence.
For those of you that are year 2, welcome. This post was in no way directed towards you.

I've been playing since December 2014 could never do raids because by the time I got on xbone my friends were already burnt out and weren't looking forward to TDB and I found out about lfg during HoW. I wish they stuck around I wish I got to experience endgame content like that when it mattered not a few weeks before TTK came out through lfg but oh well I got my thorn I'll abuse it until Tuesday sorry everyone else
my solo grind has ended I have a group I'm lucky to call friends even though we met through this game
I kept 1 character from year 1. My warlock. the other 2 have been deleted and remade a few times just for fun. I went from all 3 classes to running 3 warlocks to all 3 classses again. Just for something to do in the game. I miss my 3 warlocks sometimes but the main reason I did it was " -blam!- these jumping puzzles! im just gonna make 3 warlocks so Im always doing the raid with my main character!." I got bored of always using a warlock and switching all of my armor back n forth with my weapons.
-
Yup. Played alpha, beta, 46 runs to get mytho, fought my ass off for light lvl 30, got good enough to solo nightfalls, still do it, all 3 characters. Been here since the beggining.

Unemployed begging streamers 😂😂😂😂👍

I have a 320 frontier shell. Probably the most OG item in the game. Had to preorder destiny year 1 collectors edition. At first you couldn't infuse it but after the one update it let you infuse that and some other items such as the year 1 exotic cloaks that cane out a week before TTK

Beta player here lol

Fuq Y1 and beta players, Taken Tots FTW.

Your first problem is caring about stats. Your second problem is revealing you care about stats.

2 RepliesI'm a yr1 and the only reason I reset my characters is to be a male or a female. I like to try new things. Don't judge.
-
Wow so much passion
-
I will never delete any characters. They are my history with the game. I'm with them till the end.
-
So if this is all about k/d's why is your trials k/d so low across all 3 characters. I've been playing on all mine since year 1 and a lot of the time drunk with friends and still manage to atleast break even.

1 ReplyEdited by Dalek Trekkie: 4/9/2016 8:49:24 AMMy day 1 Warlock (The one I've mained from the start) is a clone of the character I made in the Beta. I liked using Thorn before it was even usable in anything. I had to farm for planetary material for hours on end (not exaggerating there). Hell, I was top in 1% for crucible headshots before year 2 hit. Now I barely give any -blam!-s about this game.

All I know is I made a promise to never delete my Titan no matter what. As soon as I bought Destiny the night of release I made him. I plan on keeping him until Destiny completely ends. I'm actually restarting a Hunter tomorrow with a friend so we can have some fun playing from the beginning. I like how all of my character remakes were for cosmetic reasons too. Haha
-
I reset my hunter recently on my actual account because I wanted a new Titan is all, you aren't gonna start making fun of me right?
-
I started shortly before Dark Below dropped. Just after TTK launched I deleted my Titan because I didn't like her face. So yea, that's a thing.

2 RepliesI believe kd is an accurate representation of skill

Reset 2 of my characters 6 months ago because I was a x3 Huntard would never delete any of my 3 now.
-
I only deleted one character because of Crota's end.

21 RepliesReal Year 1s were there for all of it. Not TDB, not HoW, all of it. They got the game a week or two after release and/or played in the alpha/beta. They know this game inside and out: how to clear every strike with their eyes shut. Where to farm, how to carry, how to raid, how to play PvP with heart even if their K/D isnt the best. They know how to help their fellow guardians and be a part of a team. They remember the bad times in Destiny. When Rahool gave blues for that one legendary engram youd find a month. When Bungie reset our exotics and forced us to wait to re-buy them from Xur. Grinding for the 80 or so planetary material you needed to level up just one gun or armor piece. When you had a tiny vault and no collections, so you had to make choices about which legendarys and exotics stayed and didnt. When SUROS and Vex wiped everyone in crucible without mercy, and then TLW and Thorn after that. When you could only grind one faction for rep at a time looking for Revenant. When level 29 was purgatory for weeks. When raids would glitch out and wipe your team just before you were about to win. The struggles to excel at the game and fight what seemed to be two enemies at once, the Darkness and the Developers. But Real Year 1s also remember the good times. Farming the OG Loot Cave in Skywatch for hours hoping for a sweet drop. Showing noobs who never raided before how cheesing Atheon and Crota could level them up fast. The feeling of getting your first Gally or Fatebringer or Black Hammer. The first time you went flawless and went to the Lighthouse, before Trials became a festering pit of sweaty twitch streamers and tryhards. The week before HoW when people would go in teams to Venus to farm for Treasure Keys before we even really knew what they did. When we found out we could glitch into the DLC areas and find ghosts. Thats what made Year 1 so great. Just being there for all of it and having fun. Year 2 has been just as fun so far, but the community forgot what made Year 1 so great. Now, Year 1s are turning into shitheads left and right, and Year 2s do nothing but complain.

Edited by Chubbums: 4/9/2016 8:47:33 AMActually if you were to reset your stats after SBMM was implemented they would look pretty shit compared to all the OP kills you could of racked up in year 1. Shoot to loot heavy glitch, heavy ammo dropping from players, Sniper final round, Shotpackage Shotguns, Thorn/TLW kills, tons of other stuff was available to inflate K/D's back then not to mention most tryhards ran in groups pounding on randos all day because the lack of Skill based matching.

2 RepliesDeleted my day 1hunter to make it a female Armor looks better in my opinion

My hunter is a day 1ner. Haven't changed a thing about him.
