You learn a song in the game which can slow down time. You also still have the ability to save the game and keep your progress. The only things you lose are quantities of items, rupees you haven't stored in the bank, and midway progress if you truly mess up clock management. It's arguably, and in my opinion, the most difficult game in the series; but I personally think it has some of the best temples and storyline.
