When did the shotgun nerf go into effect

It's an honest question. I'm not up on the dates things have taken place. What I'm tired of is having to bend my play to every whim that comes down the pike crying for changes. Finally get a good load that does well for you and boom, there it goes down the drain. As it stands, things are leaning more and more toward what I saw another poster suggest - which is to have specific load out packages for pvp as choices for everyone before they go in to any pvp playlist. Essentially, that's what it's coming to because of all the changes to the game. LEAVE THE GAME ALONE. That's my suggestion. Bungie hit the reset button and put EVERYTHING back to original settings. These days, if you don't equip a sniper rifle you're already in a losing battle. It also apparently means everyone needing to equip TLW because that is now becoming an even more popular close quarters gun with shotguns performing at a reduced level. This doesn't even make sense......a full load from a shotgun at an appropriate range SHOULD kill. Hawkmoon is a shadow of what it use to be, and that pretty much leaves pulse rifles as any sort of viable alternative. Heavies are heavies, all of the machine guns and rocket launchers work no matter what. Matter of fact, I don't "waste" an exotic slot on the best machine gun in the game, thunder lord, because that slot functions more than fine without it. It basically comes down to time to kill and there are very few weapons that are apart from the others. Yes, I've seen the detailed numbers chart, practically have it memorized. If Bungie's intent is to make us choose between being strong in one area at the expense of another, that's fine. I get it. But with the SHOTGUN nerf close quarters choices are much more limited, especially after hand cannons took the huge hit. We all know the long range engagement solution (snipers) and mid-long range to include scout rifles. In the mid-range it has to be pulse rifles by default. Up close & personal though......that ought to have shotguns and hand cannons as more prominent players. Period. That only makes sense.

  • I only read your first paragraph TL;DR But to answer the shotgun question, it was nerfed at vanilla destiny because of the EXTREME range. And I mean extreme.. To the point where it could kill at medium range, on par with an auto rifle, even before their nerf. It was honestly gross. I refused to play crucible till they fixed it. I believe they ended up getting 2 nerfs. I like where they are at personally.

    • Bump. That the Warlock melee has more range than shotguns says both are broken.
