Remember when people said that Fallout 4 and BOPS 3 would kill Destiny?
People were saying that Fallout 4 and BOPS 3 were gonna kill Destiny, but they always come back. So I find it hard to believe that The Division will definitely kill Destiny.
Edit: You can play more than one game at a time? I didn't realise that...

Frankly I just see people who say games are dead as idiots. I play a variety of games ranging from halo to destiny but the people who says this game will kill this game are just idiots. There will always be playing said game that'll be dead. No matter what

3 RepliesI wasn't aware fallout 4 didn't kill destiny...I played long before (day one) and when I came back a couple iron banner ago I noticed it was very very different. Very hard to find raid teams on lfg forum, connection times for finding strike teams and for actually getting 2 other people were rare. So I wouldn't say it survived the fallout 4 launch.

3 RepliesEach game will remove a decent chunk of the fanbase. But bungie is effectively killing destiny themselves, and I may never come back if the division is as good as I think it will be.

From my perspective The Division and Destiny are both cool games. However they may appeal different audiences. The one focuses more on RPG, the other more on FPS.

4 RepliesIt was witcher 3,metal gear solid 5, fallout 4 black ops 3, star wars battlefront and halo 5. And I will be adding the division to that list. If you don't know by now the forums are full of idiots. A game as big as destiny won't die less than 2 years into its life.

18 RepliesYou know, I've put a fair amount of time in across 3 char. Pretty much have done a there is to do. Enjoyed Vanilla, most of TDB, HoW was decent enough. During those days game after game is as set to kill Destiny. None really put a huge dent in the player base. There were always people on for VoG, CE, Trials, and even PoE. TTK looked as if it was going to toe the line, promises made & broken, but we trudged on. Update came and went, things that weren't broke were "fixed" and new problems (that Bungie puts little priority on) became the norm. We wait for news, only to get the same news or less. We wish for buffs but get senseless nerfs, and sensible nerfs that go too far. We wait for something to fill that emptiness that comes after doing the raid 20+ times and seeing nothing drop, watching RNG artificially extend grind while the developers say they are listening but never really accomplish promised fixes. And we continued to keep playing. Except now, now some games are coming out that look a little better. Have a little more appeal. They look good. Not because they are killers. Not because they may be better (and they may be). It's because Bungie has consistently lifted only one digit in our direction, and I for one, well, I ain't takin it any more. I've put a preorder in for the Division, looking forward to it. Have no clue what the future holds for it, and I've shown gambling is my thing (thanks RNG). Ubi sifts new game isn't killing Destiny. Destiny, for me, has been killing itself with 1000 cuts. Killing my yr 1 gear. Negating and saying "piss off" to the time spent getting that stuff in yr 1. Move on? Why do I have to? I did though, only to see yr 2 gear only half as good. Changing the NF. Yeah this is probably the biggest kick in the dick for me. Who amongst you called out "Please Bungie, remove the buff and make grinding factions an even bigger pain in the ass!". Don't you say we can use moats/mats. Remember, they lowered those too. Who bitched about too many weapons parts, strange coins, drops were too good? The list of cuts goes on and on. You may love this game. I once did. Don't tell me it's going to get better, history says otherwise. In the end, I don't trust Luke Smith, Bungie. I don't believe a word they say any longer. I don't believe for a second they care to fix what we have, everyone's moved on to "Destiny 2 - The Quest for You're Last Dime". Lastly, I may play a little here and there. However I've pretty much decided that Bungie won't receive another penny from me. Who knows though, I may be posting something similar about another game one day. Right now I'm thinking Ubis' grass is greener. For now.

2 RepliesCurrently destiny is dieing of a slow cancer that cancer being bo3 fallout4 now the division is comeing out witch is the next open mmo and fps comeing out so it's that last tumour affecting the brain of destiny witch may not kill it right off but pretty much puts the nail in the coffin and bungie is trying to hype silver sales to pay for the funeral.

Both have the same concept within different genres. Destiny being a FPS, The Division being an rpg. Both can co-exist, but The Division will definitely take some of Destiny's player-base. How much depends on how Massive will handle The Division.

Ah these comments only solidify that bungo forums are the saltiest place on earth. Go play a different game, enjoy something else, and we will see you back in Spring, and then again in Fall, and once again for Destiny 2. I don't understand why people act like they can only play one game at a time. Destiny has lost a lot of casual players, just as every game does over time, but that doesn't mean the game is dead. The sweaty scene is just now becoming established and those of us who enjoy the game will continue to play it. I bought Fallout 4, still haven't finished the storyline.. bought Halo 5, finished story and maybe played 3 days of war zone before it hit my shelf, same thing with BO3. It's funny how all of these people hate this game with such passion but come back to the forums day in and day out.

3 RepliesFallout 4 did take away some fans. Blops 3, not as much. As a guy who has played both Fallout 4 and Black Ops 3 tons since their releases, I have yet to return to Destiny. Those games got me out of my Destiny addiction, and I dont even check on Destiny anymore. If I have nothing to do on Fallout 4 or Blops 3, or dont feel like doing anything, I dont go on Destiny to further my grind like I used to.

The game is only kept alive by the new people to the game the christmas newbies the ones who dont even know what VOG is let alone done it before. theres more dead space in this game ( 2 raids that we paid for, POE, strikes we never see, crucible maps we never see) than useable space. pvp is STILL the biggest lag joke out there. personally $140 invested and this is where the game is no thanks.

Just because you can get into a lobby with a full amount of people doesn't mean nothing has changed. What did you think you were playing with all "25 million" people at once before? The population of the game is definitely at least 75% down.

2 RepliesConsidering that, of the 35 people I have on now, Fallout 4 has 10 of my friends, Halo 5 has 7, and Blops has another 6, I'd say they did (2 are on Destiny, for comparison. The rest are scattered between other games).

You should have been here during the height of year one. It was a much better experience. That out of the way I don't think any game has killed destiny. I think Bungie has killed destiny along with the game simply aging. Those two are the primary culprits

Haven't really touched destiny since those games lol I never made one of those "oh this game will kill destiny" posts but I will say this. Destiny is killing itself with its lack of pve material.
