Fix Melee Hit Detection

Recently melee hit detection has been... off. Melees not contacting, melees hitting consuming the charge but doing no damage. It's something I think all of us could agree needs fixing. However the problems don't stop there. While in patrol I was using Necrochasm and Sunbreaker and I found that hammer kills proc Cascade. So if my assumption is correct then Hammers count as a melee. If melee hit detection is fixed in crucible we should see the problems with hammers not hitting right fixed, and the sunbreaker super usable again. The same problems with Sunbreaker Hammers not contacting applies to Bladedancers as well. Arc blade also registers as a melee.

  • Hit detection is off for a lot of things, bladedancer, tripmines, warlock/hunter meeles It's been like this for awhile and seems more prevalent in PVP

  • Bladedancer hit registration is awful

  • How long has this been going on? It still isn't fixed. Most likely it won't be until the next expansion.

    • Yeah the hit detection is crap, I've wasted at least 2 arc blades. Both arc blades were aimed at one person

      • Played as sunsinger and spammed grenades that dont do any damage against an opponent despite being stuck to their faces. Same with dropping nova bombs on occasion and with tripmines on my hunter. I know you were addressing melee. Just adding my 2c

          Bump I hit a warlock who was running away five times he even ran into a wall, then when it ended I shot him with chaperone and he died! No lag or whatever!!!

          • melee hit detection is not always a negative to the user. bladedancer's have enjoyed the ability to melee kill in one hit due to the backstab bug. interesting to hear that info about sunbreaker.

          • The hit detection has been off for a bit now but after the update today seems even more so. I played maybe 4-5 crucible games a little while ago and let me not only melee hit detection but hammers were off as well. 3 hammers should be a kill to one opponent...Noticeable lag today as well. Recent weeks it's seemed better but today not so much. Just my experiences today and maybe it's on my end not Bungies. I had a few horrific games when I couldn't kill anyone then I had a few decent matches where I did alright so again could be all on my end and my skill.

          • This has started since matchmaking was changed (december), hit detection will continue to be off until pure cbmm is put back in.

          • I just had 8 shoulder charge misfires, wearing MK 44's no less, in my last 4 skirmish matches. Something is off since that little update today. Never was this bad.

          • Its true, earlier in control I punched a hunter 4 times (he was unaware and I had rain blows) yet storm fist never procced. I don't know if it was a lag issue but melee has always been too janky in destiny.

          • Seems to be Arcblade that has the biggest melee detection issue but I have noticed it on other classes too.

          • Been using my warlock alot this week and im DONE because half the time my melee doesnt do any damage! I dont know what it is but certain melee's have more of a problem, warlock melee, blink strike, shoulder charge, arc blade. While a regular melee, fist or knife work more often in my experience.

            • If each of us had a dollar for every time this has been mentioned in the last 5 months on these forums.. we could just buy Bungie, and hire new people that will get it fixed. I think I've made posts, and responded to well over a dozen of these already. Yeah it's a HUGE problem considering it's a 3rd of a Subclass right?

            • Titan fist bump, I honestly think that all classes should be buffed, sunbreaker = increased hammer damage Hunter = better hit detection warlock = fine for the moment

                • Bump!! I can't help but stress this because it uses up my melee charge and my opponent ends up walking away only after to melee me back to leave me for dead when clearly my opposing enemy's health was down to half and I strike first only to have nothing happen. Bungie definitely needs to fix this issue.
