Iron Banner Rift is not a great idea
Alright, hear me out. I don't think that Rift is a bad game mode, I really don't. But it really doesn't have a place in Iron Banana, why? A few reasons;
1. In my opinion and experience, the spawns for Rift aren't stellar. For the most part it's fine but I find myself spawning into fire more in Rift.
2. The scoring. The reason I say this is because if one rift gets detonated, it seems like half of the team who got dunked on would quit.
3. Rift takes a little more communication than Clash or control, therefore I feel like teams would be a lot more lopsided because people can bring full fireteams in

Normally I would play on past the bounties, because it was good time with friends. BS'n and helping others with unfilled bounties. Now, I hitting rank 5, and moving the F&#K on!

well at least the campers will defend the rift, maybe not by choice but at least the matches will be over quick

1 ReplyRift is a terrible idea. A lot of people like to go in alone for iron banner. Now because of Bungie's Shit based matchmaking, everyone is going to get paired with tryhards in 6 man fireteams. Because rift is so heavily based on the objective, 6 man teams will destroy solo players because they communicate. On top of that, everybody will be camping because of this ridiculous Scout rifle sniper meta. If Bungie wants to make the game mode rift, they EVERYONE whether you're on the winning team or loosing team should have a 90% chance at 315+ Light level gear. Rift can be very stressful so the rewards better be good to compensate

I semi agree out of the few match I played I find that some are just a match which people don't do the rift and just do spawn snipering until a storm caller ing warlock goes in and kills the whole team in one go or hammers did before the nerf I see a lot of storm callers being used in this event cuase Storm tance is such a easy way to protect the rift runner shame hammers isn't op like it used to be that was killer in this before the nerf.

I played Rift 5 matches in a row and it was unbearable. I fell like I spend most of the time spawning and running to the rift and little time actually fighting.

Not only that, but rift iron banner promotes a very selfish style of playing. If you ignite the enemies rift you get something like 1600+ points. And since there are bounties that ask for you to be the best of everyone in a game, EVERYBODY will try to be the runner. Even though their character is not fast enough. I see huge "problems" coming with this issue. Still, it's a game. But it is beyond stupid they chose rift for iron banner.

Nobody was playing Rift, so Bungie decided to force it upon everyone. Nice way to handle the people who pay your salaries.

1 ReplyI love rift, I love Iron banner, But you don't mix the two. Some people like soda, others like tea, but you do not mix them. I want the old IB back, maybe even a legacy version once in a while to earn year one gear you may have missed on. Stemming from that idea: [spoiler] Maybe July could be legacy month, where you can earn year one gear and play year one game modes with year one stats. [/spoiler]

agreed I honestly hate rift because your either rift carrier or you practically might as well be a meat shield at best they should just keep it at Control because I rather have Mayhem than Rift

All game content gets repurposed at some point in time, no exceptions. It seems to me to be the SOP around these parts.
