What's up with dudes being assholes to girl gamers?
So to start things off I'm a guy. Anyway I don't see why men have to be so rude to female gamers? Especially if a woman is a great player.
Like the other day I was getting randoms for a normal raid run. Well a female was the first to join and I invited her to a party. Well she asked me if it was ok that she never done the raid before, and that I would help her out. So obviously I told her yes because I don't mind helping new raiders.
I found other people and I told them that she has never done the raid before and they said they were cool with it. We got through the first part no problem and she was doing better than the others.
We get to the ship jumping puzzle and I told her to just follow me and I'll walk her through it. Of course for your first time she was struggling so if she would die I would just die to go back and help her. Well about 5 minutes we got to the first check point and the other randoms were already done. She kept appologizing when she would mess up because she felt bad.
After about 10 minutes and still haven't gotten through the jumping puzzle the others started to get angry. After one more time she died they ALL started saying things like:
"This is why girls should be in the kitchen and not on video games"
"Just go kill yourself you can't even get passed the easiest part"
And a few other sexual/mean things.
She said "well I'm sorry that I'll keep dieing I'll just leave you guys to finish"
They proceeded to say something like "thank god go back to the damn kitchen you stupid slut"
So finally I said something- "you know what no, you stay(talking to the female gamer) all these assholes can leave." So I kicked every single one out the fireteam. They were still in the party and started saying all these things to me which didn't effect me.
After I kicked them out of the party she thanked me and said she was sorry she caused me trouble. I told her no worries and proceeded to help her get through the jumping puzzle and a few personal friends joined, and we completed the raid with little fails.
Afterwards me, her, and a few friends played the nightfall and some crucible for a while. Now I play with her almost every day.
There is no reason to be so rude to female gamers, people need to grow up.

4 RepliesLook, first of all, the fact that she couldn't get through the jumping puzzle after a bunch of tries indicates that she's a casual worrying more about instagram thn anything. So her being bad is lack of practice. I've seen her kind before. The only time you should fail is at the higher jump to get to tht ship, the rest is very easy. You had a fireteam FULL of morons. They could have gone in front of her struggling ass n TELEPORT EVERYONE! Just cuz she has tits tht doesn't mean she's bad, she's just a casual, and casuals suck.

1 ReplyIn general, girls are given a bad rep for the "gamer girls" that run around being attention whores. Besides that? Yes, there's some obvious sexism with guys online as they can get away with saying shit over a mic. People are assholes online - it's just how it is. And don't get me started on the "nice guys" who just are trying to creep on girls online. I'm not saying you are, OP, but you'd be surprised how many pathetic creeps are out there.

That said, if I get a good female on my team, let's rock n roll. I assume everyone is bad until they prove themselves otherwise.

2 RepliesI don't know, while the hate filled speach can be a problem in games, I feel like men and women are equals in gaming, and that goes for whatever race you are as well. I mean slurs are all over the place, hateful racest or sexist comments are said, and people rage out, but everyone experiences these things, it's not limited to a gender and race, and honestly, that's the exact opposite of race/sexism becuase just jump onto CoD and listen for about 10 seconds, it doesnt matter who you are, if you "suck" you are getting an earful. The problem isn't gender or race limited. The problem in this situation, would you have done the things you have done for a male player if they kept dying over and over and brought down your team? No I dont think you would. I know after a while, even though I'm the type of person who likes helping others, you can only take so much of explaining the same thing over and over. On a side note, I will say that when playing as a female toon (as a male) in other games with a girly sounding name, you will get far more random creepy messages from creepy guys, but that's another problem...

7 Repliesso glad that there are still guys with nice makers like u. Im a female gamer too and I have never done a raid for this reason. When Im trying to find randoms I always get answers like ''show me your tits and then I will help u'' and stuff like that. Generally anyone who thinks that gaming is a man hobby only should grow up and start to make some company with the opposite gender too. I believe that most guys that think this (that gaming is a male-hobby) had never a connection with girls and still masturbaiting watching porn. :p

I've raided and played trials with about every type of person and had no problems ever. I had I group that had two girls that I raided with for several weeks. We did all 3 kings fall in 2.5 hours and everyone was chill. However, whenever I come on these forums I see how some people act. I hear the stories. I don't think you should generalize the community as I think this community is not as discriminatory as you think. However, that is not to say that discrimination does exist. It would be nice if we all got along with each other and accepted the differences that each of us has. Why can't we all just get along?

I would kick my current team ( theres 5 of us and all are real life friends, one is family, but they don't know her) if they said anything like that to her. Theres no excuse for it. It's not just limited to guys insulting girls though, or in gaming. It feels like these days, and especially on social media, that the majority live their lives with a huge chip on their shoulders! The newer generations who have grown up (or are growing up) with the internet seem to care little about insulting others, because its easy to dish it out when hiding behind a screen and keyboard etc. The attitude of some crosses over to real life too, I have met a few real life trolls (if you like), its not just on the internet. Of course, not everyone is like that but a quick scroll through the destiny subboard on here throws up loads of them. Nice work OP. Hope she got some good loot too.
