I think Bungie nerfed them into the ground. Without their range, they can't compete with scouts and pulses. I still see the Last Word around, but it will always be the fastest-kill hand cannon.
Agreed? Sad to see their legacy end. Maybe, one update, they'll be back in all of their glory.
Edit 1: yes yes the last word is still the most-used gun ever. Even after nerfing, that thing still destroys for some reason.
Edit 2: First Curse anyone?

Only hand cannons I've been using are Thorn and TLW. I'd use Eyasluna but the 3 that I have stored all have meh rolls

Last word.

My primary slot is full of hand cannons. People don't know how to counter them. It just takes concentration to land shots consistently. They are still deadly for me and fun to use. Practice practice practice

I'm not a big fan of hand cannons never was, I did like my "fatebringer" though.

1 ReplyEyasluna, hawkmoon, first curse, and TLW are all amazing right now.
-
1 ReplyI still see plenty of thorns
-
2 RepliesIf the first curse and ace of spades didn't take from the reserves, they would be excellent choices for pve and pvp.
-
My problem is that mida and pulses outgun them at close range because of the slow ROF and too little damage I'd say buff damage at close range and make the falloff waaaaay more noticeable

Edited by Zerocool: 1/19/2016 11:21:09 PMI use them plenty, been using ace of spades, finnalas peril on the hunter, warlock has imago loop and i'm using eyasluna with my titan, they all work well for me. obviously they work on some maps better than others in pvp.
-
I use the one in my titan quite a bit actually. It's fun. Just make sure to have primary ammo synthesis if you're going to use one in pve
-
I will always, through every meta, use handcannons. Whether or not they put me at a disadvantage or an advantage, I don't care.
-
Thorn hawkmoon and occasionally first curse
-
Hawkmoon is still good
-
I still use TLW. My first exotic gun

2 RepliesTwo part problem. Most of the Year Two hand cannons are of a type that aren't very competitive in PvP. ...and the reserve ammo nerf that they got slapped with in Patch 2.0 limits their usefulness in PvE. I currently use the First Curse as my primary weapon for my Hunter, but its because I have a piece of raid chest armor that increase my reserve ammo to a hundred rounds. The impact combined with that amount of ammo makes it a practical primary weapon. But with other hand cannons---in pve----you are CONSTANTLY having to worry about running out of PRIMARY ammo in the middle of firefights. Which is a problem with almost NO other weapon class in the game.

3 Replies320 Eyasluna Group here
-
7 RepliesI used Fatebringers Brother from another Mother on my Hunter !
-
Still love my Hawkmoon for pvp.
-
1 ReplyBecause instead of nerfing the ones that were an issue, Bungie goes full lazy mode and nerfs them ALL.
-
1 ReplyTry to use the FateBringer in the crucible... It is really, really solid.
-
2 RepliesI run Hawkmoon. Always will.
-
3 RepliesThe IB hand cannon is pretty good, I have had some good matched with it.
-
They nerf HC. It useless in PVE. Accuracy, ammo, bad stability...etc. Run out of ammo a lot...totally bad.

4 RepliesEdited by XiX_GhOsTx_XiX: 1/19/2016 9:38:03 PMI love using Thorn, sooo much fun! And it's one of the very few HCs that felt right to me, and not due to how OP it was. I just love how it handles and how accurate it really can be if you take your time instead of spamming body shots. Edit: I think that Thorn would still be my go-to HC even if it didn't have the DoT.

2 RepliesI use the first curse ;)
