Only been on the forums 10 minutes and already seen 3 death threats/suicide posts.
Saw one person tell another "put your head in a wood chipper."
Saw another "To everyone crying nerf, I hope you die."
Seriously? It's just a game, yet people are wishing death to others. This is NOT okay.
I utilize the dislike and report buttons, but nothing seems to happen to these people. Playful banter is fine, even trolling occasionally.
But telling someone to kill themselves or saying you hope they die is just completely unacceptable. Something needs to be done Bungie!
I know you can't filter for just "die" or "death" because someone could be talking about just "dying" in the game.
But specific phrases like "go kill yourself" should be filtered, the same way that words like "F***" are filtered.
Also, the word "*azi" gets auto censored to "-Godwin's Law!-" Surely you could implement something like this for:
-Suicide
-Kill yourself
-"I hope you die"
Etc.
Please look into this, Bungie.
Sincerely,
Dom
Edit: Even in this thread, someone told me to kill myself. Thankfully, a ninja responded and moderated the post.

2 Replies2015 in my town. There were 17 suicides. Both by old and young, and some for the tiniest of reasons.(Not good reasons mind you as suicide is never a good thing to go through with). I myself attempted it three times in one night and I'm glad I failed. I still bare some of that pain but its slowly gotten easier to handle. But as for online? I'm sorry to think so little of anyone that if one of my friends even on here told me to kill myself I would laugh. There's been harder times in my life and I really could care less if a eight year old or even a eighty year old told me to end my life. I find it more funny that we need to discuss this like children in the whole. Some of the replies here are childish and immature while others make good points. If I were going to do anything when someone over the internet, either on a forum, or on a chatroom or anything, it would be sip my tea, carry on about my day and maybe when someone's not looking(or even if they are) I might scratch my ass. That's how little I care. But people today are so damn sensitive. If you kill yourself because someone on the internet tells you to, then you needed help before they came along.

I love it now op and others here are insulting the people telling them to "get tougher skin or that's just the internet or to not get on the internet" and these people are met with insults and name calling by op and op supporters yet what if they kill themselves over your rude comments kill them with kindness.

16 RepliesWe take threats very seriously and those making them could be banned. Our Ninjas are keeping watch but are outnumbered, your reports help them find posts that are breaking the Code of Conduct. A single report will not send it to a Ninja so if you report something and nothing happens it probably means you were the only one who reported it. We appreciate you sharing ideas on how to help keep this place clean. We are always trying to improve your experience here.

1 ReplyThat's the internet for ya.

"Go kill yourself" isn't so much a threat but more of an insult. And threats are actually taken seriously in the forums. The internet requires thick skin my friend.

I dont know if their is UK amendments or something of the nature. but anyways its the internet people cry about someone callig them a prick i think telling someone to kill themselves in a forum of a game is WAAAAYY more tame than other places

To spread some happiness, I report a lot of overly insulting posts. "You're an idiot" usually isn't on my list however.

1 ReplyIt's why I haven't been around the forums much lately. Too much crying and insults and quite frankly I'm an adult and shouldn't be wasting my time with someone who is going to throw out insults or threats because we don't agree.

3 RepliesYou're a total douche that's why. I see your posts on here and your attitude pisses people off. Maybe try not being a total dick. You once said you were reporting me because I used the word gay in one of my posts.

2 RepliesSo true man. You see it all the time. Death threats, suicide comments, unnecessary hate. All promoted by the Ninjas as "Cool" Give away a spoiler to a Disney movie? Banned. These forums are not only full of jackasses, they're run by it too

10 RepliesJust mute them. I got like 300 users muted and my feedback is a lot cleaner now. One thing I notice is that most of the people I have muted are from the Xbox community.

2 RepliesYou do realize everyone on here lives and breathes the game. It's really scary

2 RepliesRight? I see all this crap on the forums, and no body bats an eye. And I got a damn warning for pointing out that a guy typed the word blam to replace a curse word instead of cursing and letting the forum auto-replace it with blam. I didn't curse, I didn't insult, and I sure as hell didn't break any rule of the CoC. My post was this, "At first I was going to explain what blam was, but then I reread the post and realized that the OP actually typed out 'blam' himself." It may not be word for word, but I swear on my grave that was all that I said. Nothing against the rules. It was a reply to somebody making fun of the guy for typing blam. If anything, I was poking fun at myself for not paying attention the first time. Is that against the rules? Please, if any moderater or Ninja or anybody sees this, please explain to me why I deserved that warning.

6 RepliesThis here is a prime example of the regressive left. A scion of stupidity; a bag of festering pus. Could be also called a Social Injustice Warrior that infest colleges all over the western world. Some blame the feminist propaganda. Others blame liberalism gone wild. I simply refer to people like this OP as a overly sensitive authoritarian douchebag that hates the very notion of free speech. He is the type of moron that would be more than happy to remove the first amendment of the constitution simply because... their feelings might be hurt by some lil' words. This OP is the type to petition a college for a "safe space", where everyone talks about cookies, raindbow's, and different types of micro-aggressions and how they should band together and whine about each thing they deem offensive. This right here people is part of the reason why America has gone to shit over the past couple decades. I wont tell you to kill yourself OP, simply because that would be giving you fuel for the fire. Instead i will simply wish many large zits to appear on your face muahahahahahaha! Let me add this in though. I do not condone death threats either in person or through the internet. However, you have the power to block people you don't like on forums on the internet. You can do that. Instead of whining, YOU take action that will benefit you. If in real life, punch em in the face or call the police. Well whatever, have a good one.
