1 ReplyThe only logic I can see behind free college is the proven fact that degrees don't get careers anymore. You need to go to a certain school for a certain subject to get a career afterwards. For example: Harvard for Law or UCSD for medicine or science. If you go for anything else, you might as well not go to college. Now I don't believe in free college, however people that have already been through college don't understand the skyrocketing tuition. The Chancellors of the school board are jacking prices way up because they know people will go regardless. Now let's look at this, teachers are a dying career because the way tuition is rising, you'd be dead before you're done paying off college loans. Same for doctors. Most teachers at this time don't finish paying off debt until they are well into their 40's. Doctors, while they make a lot, have tons in debt. And to go to that prestigious medical school to get that degree for a career certainly wasn't cheap. You go ahead and tell me that you want your well being an our children's education in the hands of someone stuck in a pile of debt from school. Teachers are supposed to encourage school but upon me questioning how much debt they still owe, I never went for it because I saw it's payout as minuscule. Now that I've given my standing on school and pricing, I don't think it should be free. However I will vote for Sanders this year because at least he's the first president out for the prosperity of his people that we've seen in years. You go ahead and vote for the mediocre businessman billionaire with a hidden agenda. Ruin our country for the people who aren't ignorant and idiotic.

Edited by bhsnipes: 12/15/2015 7:34:58 PMIt's the previous generation's fault we're in this mess. President Reagan shouldn't have either armed resistance in the Soviet-Afghan war or should've helped rebuilt the region instead of letting Pakistan handle it. The rebels we funded then are the same people we fought then. President Bush further escalated the issue. Tax payers handed over 1.7 Trillion dollars for the War on Terror, which is becoming more and more pointless because our country is incompetent enough to handle it correctly. The money we spent on this stupid war that is getting nowhere, could've been spent on our own problems like Veteran's not getting their benefits, student loan debt, and so much more... I believe students that do well in College should be rewarded with free schooling. My strategy for this is have students sign a contract, if the students get a certain GPA(2.0-3.0 or above). They wouldn't pay for school or at least subsidize their tuition. It's relatively hard to get that in college when you get to 300+ level classes. Also, a large number of students get less than a 2.5 in college. Not everyone can get good scholarships. I'm not that much of a social person and I didn't join much clubs with the exception of Key Club 11th-12th grade and the Cyber Patriot competition. I couldn't create clubs suited to my field because there wasn't enough students to start it. Not only that I had major back surgery for Scoliosis and I was forced into homeschooling for a semester. I can't work hard hard labor jobs because it puts stress on my back. I get massive backaches when I try to lift. Not to mention I had 2 surgeries to correct it. It was hard for me in high-school. In college since I have no social obligations and I have contacts through my dads experiences I practically have a job right out of college working for Raytheon, NSA, BAE, and Advantage Technical. Grades mean nothing. Grades mean how obedient you are. How you apply your knowledge is more important. If two candidates are getting a job, one has a 4.0 and an average portfolio, the other has a 3.0 and an excellent portfolio, the company will hire the second candidate because he has more expertise and can apply their knowledge better. If we hadn't gotten involved in the previous Middle Eastern wars or at least supervised the rebuilding of the region, they'd be like Japan post-WWII. If we didn't abandoned the Afghans, there would've been much less of a chance for the many terrorist attacks we had on our soil. The same people that did the 9/11 attacks were the rebels we funded in the Soviet-Afghan war. Why should my generation( I'm 19) have to suffer because of the poor choices the previous generation did. Free college will not make diplomas worthless, stop believing the nonsense Fox News or CNN spits out. They tell you things that you want to believe. Free college will actually create more jobs thus creating more competition and it will actually greatly improve the country because there will be more spending. This current generation isn't as lazy as you may think. We were handed a massive burden that the previous generation caused. Just wait until the current generation gets into politics. Things will change for the better whether you like it or not. This generation is open to change and is open to outside ideas without being indoctrinated by the stupid Reagan generation. This country was based on a secular concept yet previous presidents directly associated the Christian god into the country. The "One Nation, Under God" and "In god we trust" needs to be removed because not only it violates the first amendment, it also offends many groups of people living in the United States. I work 30 hours a week and attend school full time while building my resume by developing small applications, nothing large. Quite actually the percentage of welfare leaches is low and you have to work a certain amount of hours to earn it. TL;DR Educate yourself. This generation isn't entitled and lazy. The previous generation put my generation into this mess and I will not standby and watch this country fall apart while our stupid warmongering government keeps on sticking its nose into things they shouldn't. I will not standby while our politicians are bribed by corporations to proceed their own agenda. I will not standby while the media spews out false information, just as George Orwell said, "The people will believe what the media tells them believe" translation, the media tells you what you want to believe. People lost the capability to think for themselves and outside the box. Most of all, I will not stand and fight for our nation, I'd rather be sent to prison than fight for a country that is so corrupt. College is a right, not a privilege. The more educated individuals, the better.

11 RepliesTop 1% of the world's population controls over 95% of the world's wealth. So we of the 99% are fighting for the 5% scraps left us. Yet we fight with each other calling each other zombies, brainwashed, etc. Both sides are right, bc the 1% is laughing at us clowns as we devour ourselves in our own shit. Good job ppl. Loser: wisdom, harmony, civility, and our potential.

12 RepliesThis is what will happen if the minimum wage gets raised so much it no longer is profitable. I guarantee you the fast food companies are already investing in machines to replace workers. Hell look at Mcdonalds. It's a timed burger cooker, and french fry cooker. The worker pushes a button and it gets cooked. They simply take it off the grill or out of the oil when a buzzer goes off. It's already halfway to automation.

15 RepliesI'm gonna quit providing for myself. It's time to hop on the bandwagon. I'm gonna quit my job and let the gov feed and house me. I'm gonna just wear my pajamas all day long, even when I have to go grocery shopping. Maury and springer here I come! I'll be swilling the finest malt liquor. When I'm good and toasty I'll start blaming everyone for my short comings in life. I'll have to keep my girl pregnant, more kids equals more money.... CHA CHING!! I will become socially defunct, talking loudly amongst my group of fellow failures about garbage that, frankly, just dumps more co2 in the atmosphere. Yep its time, I quit!

3 RepliesEdited by bhsnipes: 12/15/2015 3:12:38 PMYou do realize there are more than "Burger Flippers" working minimum wage with minimum skills, right? Working register, stocking shelves, or truck work at retail takes minimum skill, yet they get paid more. Burger slippers do more work than you realize. They also have to clean extensively so you can eat a healthy lunch without hours old crumbs in your food. Do you know how hard it is to clean a grill? Fast food workers also have to stock from the truck, clean the floors every 4 hours, clean fryers, and clean the oven which takes hours to do. I myself work at a local Burger King 30 hours a week and go to college full time. I'm the only one who cleans the fryers until they are sparkly clean and I also clean the oven. I put the truck away if it comes late, I come in at 5am. Each box weighs up to 60 pounds. Syrup boxes weigh a ton. At my store, we take pride in assuring your food us fresh and neatly made. My store has been around for decades and is the most popular fast food restaurant in 10 miles. I'd rather work at Burger King when I can request off at will a week before. Retail usually makes the schedule 3 weeks ahead of time. Usually you can't request off unless you don't do it a month or two in advance. I also get paid vacation. My managers love me because I don't have to be told to do anything, I ask if there is anything I can do. I deserve more they could fire the workers who barely show up and give me their salary, I do the amount of work as 2-3 people. I can't work jobs related in my field because they all require an associates degree or bachelors. Associates are worthless. Trades are useless because they're technically careers. My mom is nurse(bachelors) and my dad is a electrical engineer(masters) when they were in school they could afford more than half, if not all of their public education. You only had to work 4-6 hours a day, while you have to work 12+ hours a day to afford it now. My parents agree it needs to be raised to $12 an hour, but incrementally over 4-6 years. The amount of money spent on the pointless war of attrition and student aid could be used to greatly subsidize college prices if not make public college free.

27 RepliesCollege should be free. And what's wrong with people making enough to not be on welfare? As much you seem to hate government hand outs, I thought someone like you would be in favor of paying people enough to support themselves so the rest of us don't have to subsidize them with our taxes. Or is that too much logic for someone of your political leanings?

12 RepliesThat all sounds so terrible. Paying people a living wage, giving them access to higher education, and free healthcare. That'll collapse the country because spending trillions on war and military that only benefits the top 1\10th of the top 1% of the world is a much better system. GTFO

OP probably had his college tuition paid for-
Hypothetically if Bernie were elected
Nevermind that, OP didn't graduate high school and lives in his mom's basement.

10 RepliesAfter more people are able to get a education (proper one hopefully) I expect the GOP to die. Huh, maybe that's why they are against it. Seriously though people would be educated enough to get money out of politics and and discuss issues instead of shutting down the government in defiance. We go back to post FDR and eisenhower and reverse regans garbage, seriously a movie actor is your party idol? Lol just because of the "Gorbachev, bring down your wall"

35 RepliesEdited by Face Mcshooty: 12/13/2015 3:45:32 PMIt's pretty obvious OP had his rich family pay for his college, or wasn't smart enough to get into anything good enough to give him student debt. It's also pretty obvious that he's never tried to live on minimum wage jobs. It's pretty amazing that everyone complains about the 15$ minimum wage when most big corporations could raise their prices 1¢ and make back the money + extra profit.
-
3 RepliesIt amazes me the cold heartlessness in these threads. If the kind of better paying jobs were available, then why is the middle class shrinking?
