Someone give me an honest answer. If the worms are ahamkara why did they not attack us guardians when we first met them? Surely the events on fundament took place long before the traveler arrived here.

It's more that the Ahamkara are also hosts to the Worms.

Because the worms are not all the same. The Ahamkara tried to make deals with the guardians and they all backfired on the guardian which is why they were hunted. The worms/Ahamkara are a parasite species and thus they cannot do anything without a host.
