Remove the connection bars. Because people use them as an excuse to suck, Or to call someone a cheat. They have so little to do with actual lag that it amazes me. I guess I'm the only person that has seen more green bars bouncing through the game world than red. All that bar is there for is to appease the thing inside you that lost. It gives you a reason to keep playing, thinking you aren't as bad as that guys lag.

  • I'm with you, never have a problem killing them, latency and ping are the real focus.

  • That is not true. I have seen redbars take 4 shotgun rounds point blank and take 0 damage. Yet they fire off 1 round and kill other people. There is a definite lag issue in destiny. I'm not saying everyone that does it is doing so intentionally. But there is an issue and the lack of dedicated servers is the heart of the problem. Just because you have been lucky enough not to encounter tons of redbars does not mean everyone else has been so fortunate.

  • I at no point said I haven't seen redbars. What I said was that green bars lag just as much. None of you even know what that bar measures. It's just your excuse for why you die.

  • It's a measurement of latency as far as I know. True I have seen green bars lag. Once they become immune to damage and their movement animations stop as they ghost across the screen. But usually within 10-15 seconds of checking a person that was green drop to red. Do stay on your high horse and say lag isn't what kills people. Yes some die to legit players and they like to try and blame lag. But there is a serious problem with legit players dieing to lagged out players or unable to kill lagged out player. Because of the lack of dedicated servers one persons lag can effect everyone else's gameplay.

  • Connectivity and latency are two different measures, that bar is a connection strength to the servers. You can have 60mps Internet and still have a red bar depending where you live. If you drop 4 shotgun rounds in someone me and my fireteam has found that normally the whole lobby is experiencing this, and if it continues sometimes it's best to back out. But that red bar won't necessarily tell you who's got the best latency. Especially since most people who have bad latency are ones with the most input lag, in other words their tv screens, I've found monitors work the best.

  • The latency point was just a shot in the dark. I agree on your other point hence my point that one persons bad connection can affect everyone. They just need to shell out the cash and get dedicated servers. It would solve quite a few issues. In regular matches I do back out if the lag is that bad. For trials I try and fight through it. I'd rather not make it any easier for the other team to get a win. I have to agree with the original post though and they should add a connection strength check into the matchmaking process. Good connections get paired with good connections and bad connections get stuck with fellow bad connections. It would be at least more tolerable since they will likely never get dedicated servers.

  • Dedicated servers would be nice, playing halo 5 is incredibly smooth for it.

  • Yeah, I'm sure he's never seen that player who you empty 5 rounds point blank from a shotty into and just waves at you. He's probably never seen someone teleporting either. We just suck. It's our fault we can't kill someone who lags the eff out.

  • Ah, yeah, this addresses the red bar, but not teleporting. Just STFU if you aren't going to create a cohesive argument to shut down someone's point.

  • The fukkin point is that you can't go off the bar system to fix the fukkin lag. Did I explain it simple enough for you? I mean It's what I said in the first place. But I dumbed it down for you and your big bwrain.
