Why do people sleep on Fusion Rifles? Side arms?

I can't understand this; fellow players well run around all day with a sniper rifle and and shotgun. But will barely use their primary. Okay cool. But when it comes to special weapons. My dearest people won't ever pick up a fusion rifle or a side arm... Here's my issue with that. A. A fusion rifle gives you close to mid range one squeeze kill. But it's all about the timing. But let me guess. You'd rather squeeze and immediately get the kill. Hm. Right. B. If you're all about your primary. Your sidearm can save your ASS. Like let's say you're creaming enemy team and you run out of ammo. And dudes health barely moved. What are you gonna do. Hope you can get the melee. Or whip out a trusty sidearm and melt him? Answer seems pretty logical. There's so many different ways to play yet everyone I've encountered does the same thing. Run. Blam shotgun. Reload. I mean. What do you guys think? Edit: Check out my most recent post. It involves the community so it'd be good to have some of you guys on that as well. Also if you're on XBOX ONE. My GT is Nomad XXIV ;; Shoot me a friend request! Ill be getting a PS4 soon so no worries my lovelies lol Edit: 2 | Machine Gun, Rocket Launcher or a Sword? Why? Edit 3: Fastest Charge Fusion rifle? I'm running Midhas from the raid and it gets the job done. But stil need another. Preferably Solar.

  • Please never sleep on fusion rifles or sidearms. They are not pillows. They are weapons. Gun safety is real, people.

    • Inferno rumble used nothing but a primary and side arm and destroyed 80% of the shotgunners. Why because most of the people that play crucible can't play without radar. All it takes is a couple of well placed jumps over their head pop them with a sidearm and before they had time to figure out where I jumped to and try to pop me with a shotgun they were dead. Not to mention you don't spawn with special in inferno.

    • I just use Snipers cause I find them fun I used to love fusion rifles but ever since their accuracy got nerfed the inconsistency really made me hate them I mainly use my primary anyway, only pull out my sniper in sniper lanes or to damage a target to get an absolute advantage on them ( kinda like a ghetto shotgun )

I'll be honest, I used to use fusions alot until I got Felwinter's and fusions weren't viable with that around. I'm getting back into fusions, and until TTK dropped, the only to sidearms were Vestian Dynasty which was ok and Dreg's Promise which is a waste of coding in the game. If it was deleted from the game no one would care except <%1 of players. I'm loving my IB sidearm. It's a great follow up weapon.

    • Sidearms have ridiculous (range) damage falloff making them most potent at point blank range. Guess what else is potent at point blank range? Shottys. As far as fusion rifles... They used to be my goto weapon. But now? Their stability is awful. They're meant to be a midrange alternative. In between shotguns and snipers, but anything further than close range (since the nerf) renders the FR obsolete. And even at close range the zero charge shotty will win every time. My .02$

The best fusion rifle I've seen, is the omolon thesan FR4 from the gunsmith orders its came with Grenadier Rangefinder Hand-Laid Stock Which gave it near max stability And Rangefinder Gives it stupendous range So some fusion rifles are a good choice over shotguns and snipers, you just have to know how to use them.

Easy answer: Fusion rifles take skills.

                  • Fusion rifles have been nerfed, and left in the dust while other weapons were buffed, they were the go too weapons before the Felwinters archetype of shotgun came into play. The one hit kill that out ranges shotguns and doesn't require a Crit, if they give you range and good charge rate to many will complain.

                  • I love my Split Shifter don't get me wrong and depending on which Primary I'm toting it's one of my prefered Specials in TTKing. That said, right now the problem is consistency. When facing competent opponents strafing, jumping, crouch-shotting and the like are things you must account for when using a Fusion and if you're slightly off you will likely miss that one pulse (7 fired, 5 needed for the kill) or more needed in all but the Ranges in which certain shotties will one/two shot in that time frame. Missing one burst forces you to swap to a Primary and that time not dealing damage is likely to equate to your death unless that Primary has a rather high base Equip speed and preferably solid Hipfire capacity. Another issue is those who excel at Sniping and are capable of doing so in combat range. Many Snipers fire two body hits faster than certain Fusions can finish charging and the best of 'em will crit you trying to come 'round the corner. While these players may be quite skilled it essentially renders the Fusion obsolete when the Sniper is also more efficient in dealing with targets mid-Super and is capable of the blindshot-melee which requires no charge time while proving more consistent. But I love 'em for a reason. Given a high enough Charge Rate they have a very fast base TTK advantage over Primary weapons and any Sidearm user who can't land crits while holding a more reserved playstyle in mind than a shotgun, played well they're very capable in shutting down Golden Gun users and even when you miss a pulse or two a nearby teammate can capitalize on that more-so than other Specials excluding a Black Hammer body hit ('bout on-par to a 1K YStare body hit). As for Sidearms their falloff is what makes them so niche. They've a great TTK (.6s for crits, .8 for body hits (.6 being on-par to some MG body hit TTKs) and are awesome at melting shotty rushers. But if you're rocking an Auto or HandC you're limiting your options at greater Ranges. However given you're pairing them with a pulse like the Hawksaw or Nirwen's or any Scout Rifle and they shine pretty damn bright.

                  • I was a diehard fusion user before TTK. They just feel weak now. Sidearms on the other hand are crazy powerful. The Iron Banner sidearm is crazy good in Pvp. Quick draw makes it so good to support a primary.

                    • I don't have TTK so I can't get those sidearms... I love vestian dynasty but sometimes I miss because the bullets don't reach the target in time like fusion rifles. Do the other sidearms suffer this as well?

With regards to your “A:”  Fusion rifles are fun but require more adjustment.  The learning curve is smaller with shotguns and snipers than with fusion rifles.    As to “B:”  Sidearms are great options!  Especially Ironwreath-D.  I have 2; one Reactive Reload and Battle Runner and the other has Reactive reload and hot swap.  The RR/BR, I enjoy using as a primary.  It has good enough stability to get hits at center mass/ head box and at ranges farther than shotguns.  It shoots lightning fast and will always spawn with ammo.  The RR/HS is a good traditional Sidearm.  It has great draw and base stats and will finish off enemies when my Primary runs dry or I don’t have time to reload.

                      • I went 9-0 in Trials only using Ironwreath, the Iron Banner Sidearm, as my secondary. The entire time I was telling my friends, "People sleep on sidearms!" They require the user to have more control over recoil and accuracy than shotguns and only dominate snipers when you're within sidearm range. I thoroughly enjoy sidearms and would love to see the weapon class get more love in the future.
