So is the hard mode actually pointless?
There's a lot of people saying some things, one being that the hard mode raid isn't giving anything new besides higher gear and what I can only assume the ship.
Is this true?

I was the luckiest player in our raid team yesterday went in at 310 on my hunter came out at 313 and that was just from Glyph warpriest golgoroth and sisters oryx gave me a shitty 312 shotgun. Ad also was lucky I got 310 gauntlets from the exotic chest

They killed this game with infusion and crap drops. And the not so duplicate loot table that gives me more duplicates than ever. Destiny needs a little less tyson green.

Well...this post got a lil more attention than I would have petered it to lol, but thanks anyway guys. Note: I did try to edit it several times early on to acknowledge my understanding of the new hard mode but for some reason it would let me at all, oh well :).

312 rocket launcher 315 cloak 319 gloves And all that just from Warpriest Gorgoroth Daughters. Squad had 2 307's by oryx so we called it but got my hunter from 308-310 and I still have 308 chest and 298 helmet. I'd say if you don't care about clearing hard raid with some ease every week it's not worth it but if you play a lot you will probably want to hard raid.

(Note that I have the HM emblem on.) It's a challenge for bragging rights, at this point. RNG seems to be screwing many people over. They need a point-reward system that gives out loot based on hidden effort values. Golgoroth, for example: Did most damage to Golgoroth? You get +1 on roll. Did x amount of damage per gaze? Everyone gets +3 on their roll. Gaze grabber held it for x amount of seconds? +2 to roll. Gaze grabber didn't take any Rage damage? +2 to roll. This means a Gaze grabber would get 317-320 gear on Golgoroth for a team using all 6 orbs and never taking damage from Golgoroth's Rage.

39 RepliesThis is how MMO endgame works; you raid to get the better gear, so your next raid is easier, until you have the best gear, then you take that into the new endgame, and repeat. No, there is no point to the hard raid except to be a higher light level for other raids/ToO/IB, but without that point, the entire game has no point.

Got 312 shell, 316 chest peice and 320 rocket launcher, on my hunter ..worth it at the moment for sure!! And will be necessary if u want to move onto epic mode later on.

My 2 hard mode runs (both stopped at oryx) : Raid gauntlets 310, boots 313, sniper 311, shell 318, shotty 314. I'll update after I kill oryx on both. Seems worth it to me though I went from 305 to 311 today

I want my elemental primaries to take out certain enemies faster at the same time having a unique factor in the weapon rather than it being a kinetic projectile like any other weapons...

Feels like a repeat of when normal raid came out. I feel bad for people that grinder so hard to get to 310 I went from 307 with 4 raid completions to 311 in an hour lol
