Edit: since it seems to be confusing everyone, I'm infusing a 310 star fire protocol into a 305 raid chest piece.
Edit 2: seems like you guys are split, half of you say it will and the other half say it won't. Interesting
Edit 3: ok so apparently my dumb question is now trending. Didn't expect that
Edit 4: ok I did it and it turned 310. You guys can stop bumping now.

JUST DO IT!!!!

3 RepliesYeah, your good. To calculate my infusions I use this website: http://destinyinfused.com/
-
3 RepliesExotics get 70 percent of the difference and legendaries get 80. It rounds up. 5 x .7 is 3.5 so you will get to 309 with your exotic.
-
I've gotten things to 310 from 305 but never lower than that,
-
It depends on the average between the two pieces of gear
-
-
Yes it will exotic to legendary gets 6 guaranteed the other way around only guarantees 4 points of light. Legendary from my experience gives 5 points of light guaranteed when infused to another legendary.
-
Do it and find out
-
I had a 304 1000-yard stare and infused a 4th horseman 310 into it. Got a 310 1000 yard stare. FYI.

1 ReplyEdited by TheDurk: 10/23/2015 3:03:35 PMYeah, if the difference is 6 and below it'll be fine. Also, the equation only applies if the difference is greater than six, Edit: also, if you are raising an exotic, it's 4 instead of 6.

It will!!
-
Infusing a purple = 310 Infusing an exotic = 309 This is just based on your numbers posted in OP.

2 RepliesEdited by Pee Bus: 10/23/2015 3:28:35 PMNo. 306+310=309 307+310=310

6 RepliesAlright so here is the normal formula with very simple math for those wondering Take the difference of the two pieces 310-305=5. Now multiply that by .8 5x.8= 4 Now add this number to your original value 305+4=309 so no it will not be 310 no matter what. In addition to this exotics seem to infuse up slightly less than the normal formula. Also if it's a decimal number you usually round up unless it's exotic... There post over. There is an infusion calculator online that does the same formula I just told you. It's like 5th grade math guys come on.

Edited by yallz boy: 10/23/2015 3:27:03 PMmaybe. first you have to run backwards around the block, drink an infused tea. Then minus amount of the tea from a gallon of e85 gas. times the years consecutively served by your mayor. Then divide the difference by .8. Do you even Common Core math guardian?

Edited by Krunchy: 10/23/2015 3:26:05 PMLegendary items will go up more than exotic items will. For example, a 300 legendary will be closer to 310 than a 300 exotic if you infuse both with 310 items (the rarity of only the item you are trying to raise matters, the rarity of the item you are getting rid of through infusion doesn't matter). If you are within 5, a legendary will go up by the full 5 light points. If you are within 4, an exotic will also go up by the full 4 light points. Edit: I forgot to directly answer your question. Because the item you are trying to raise is legendary and the two items are within 5 defense of each other, the end result will be a 310 chest piece after you infuse.

303 -> 309 with a 310 infusion That's all the firsthand info I can contribute
-
Yes it will be 310, of the piece of gear that is raising in light is legendary you can have a light difference of 6 and it will always go up the entire difference. For exotics that are ring raised in light the difference in light has to be 4 for guaranteed increase by that much. So legendary's have to be 304 for guaranteed infusion to 310 and exotic have to be 306 for guaranteed infusion to 310
-
Here you go
-
It will go to 310, if it was vice versa, your exotic will become 309. Exotics areHarder to up grade.
-
Yes you are all good i did the same thing with a helmet
-
A legendary can jump 6 with zero loss. An exotic can only jump 4 with zero loss.
-
So did you end up doing it? If so what were the results?
-
GodOfWar22 2m ago Permalink It has to do with wether the piece is exotic or legendary. Legendary items upgrade by 5 after 305 Exotics upgrade by 4 after 305
5 RepliesI've heard and seen that infusion is 80% granted and if a 5 number value difference or less you'll get the full 5 or less. BUT, a couple times for me I was 5 away and it increased it by 4 for me, still following the 80% rule. So I don't know what the real coding and rules are behind the scenes. Maybe different for weapons vs armor. I really don't know anymore
