Edit: since it seems to be confusing everyone, I'm infusing a 310 star fire protocol into a 305 raid chest piece.
Edit 2: seems like you guys are split, half of you say it will and the other half say it won't. Interesting
Edit 3: ok so apparently my dumb question is now trending. Didn't expect that
Edit 4: ok I did it and it turned 310. You guys can stop bumping now.

1 ReplyIf you've got a smart phone look up an app in your app store called infuse For destiny. Does all the math for you and all you have to do is plug in two numbers. There is also a website for it called destinyinfused.com I think. Very helpful imo.

You get 80% of the difference between the two items, so 5X80:100=4. It will be 309. It could only be 310 roght away if you infused an exotic piece of armor into it
-
It did for me

1 ReplyIdk I'm assuming yes. I notice 5 light difference gives you all 5 points. Anything over 10 splits the difference in half. The odd thing is my black spindle was 280 and I infused a raid sniper with 300 light and it turned into 295. So my logic went out the window...

Here is my experience so far (take it with a grain of salt): When infusing exotics into legendaries I am able to make up a 5-6 delta, while infusing legendaries into exotics is able to make up a 4-5 delta. This means, based solely on my personal experience, that you would come out with a 310 in your case by infusing a 310 exotic into a 305 legendary. So far I have done several 310 exotics into 304 legendaries and had them come out at 310 (all my 310 legendaries, except for my artifacts, have been reached via infusion).
-
309, it absorbs 80% of an upgrade
-
304 legendary will go to 310 when infused with a 310 exotic
-
306 will go 310 305 you might get 309
-
Should be 310 if not 309
-
2 RepliesA few people have already mentioned, but the quality of the piece you're upgrading is what matters. The item's value you're dismantling is the only thing that matters. Ex. Upgrading a legendary is guaranteed 6 points higher. Exotics are guaranteed 4 points higher. Doesn't matter if you infuse using a rare, legendary or exotic. I've ran a few dozen tests. :)

3 RepliesTwo raid chest pieces this morning one 305 and other 306 both now 310. Used two hunters chest of Alpha Lupi at 310.
-
3 Replies304 will be 310 if infused with 310, 303 would be 309 if infused with 310

-
Itll be either 309 or 310 for armor. 310 for sure for weapons
-
1 ReplyCount on it being 308. Disappointment is our only true ally.
-
I just use this rule for leveling up my legendary weapons and armor. The max number is the biggest jump you can make and still get 100% light credit. The number drops by 1 when infusing two legendary or two exotic items together. Rare max 4 Legendary max 5 Exotic max 6

7 RepliesEdited by leroy0521: 10/23/2015 11:50:00 PMYes it will. Legendaries within 6 points will be the same, otherwise 80% of the higher one. Exotics within 4 points will be the same, otherwise 70%. You can also check destinyinfused.com if you're not sure.

It would be a 309.5

Edited by Cankle J: 10/23/2015 11:23:49 PM1 put a 310 chest into a 297 and it turned 308. I put 297 gloves into 289 and got 293. I wish I had an answer for you.

If you can read code I know a friend who coded in the calculations. Let me know.

I infused a 310 alpha lupi to my 304 raid chest and got 310.

Tried this twice 308 is your answer
