What is the big deal with people who are lying about having completed the raid and pretending to know what they are doing? I mean seriously if you haven't done a part of the raid before say it.. people will not bite your head off or look down on you, if you pretend you have done it before and you haven't you just make the raid harder for everyone who has. I'm guessing destiny has become elitist where only the good can complete a raid, seriously if you haven't done it before man up and say you don't know what your doing don't wing it! What i have always loved about destiny is people will sherpa and help you so speak up and don't drag your team down!!
Edit raiding tonight send me a message if you want to play

Truthfully, if I ever need to lfg for a raid spot, I usually only need one person. So my requirement is 290+ light, with kingsbane or the ToM emblem
-
They do that because most of the time people won't invite them if they haven't completed it. Even if they have done it before and just not beat it they'll be excluded. I had it happen before, I had gotten to Oryx, gotten him to a tiny amount of health, but didn't get to finish him off. Because of that there were at least three groups who kicked me after finding out.
-
'I've done it before' - someone who hasn't done 'it' before

6 RepliesThe problem is that people don't want to have to put the effort into the raid. Low efforts, bigger rewards. If they don't have to explain how to deal with the encounter in question, they believe it will be less stress. I gatecrashed my first TTK raid because a friend was in the group. They were totally fine with teaching me the ropes and we gid get it done. Credit to then. I really don't understand why people insist on ludicrous criteria for potential team members.
-
Anyone caught lying will get booted, it's not hard to be honest and tell people you've never done it..... But sometimes people just wanna get everything done with experienced people and it's not hard to tell when people lie about completions, without having to look up their stats
-
Yes they will... Some will shit right on your face if you don't know some mechanics. Me and my cousin just peace out if we have to to raid with random assholes. Fukk em
-
Haven't done this myself....but I get it. While yes it is pretty stupid to say you have done it, and go in blind......probably get kicked pretty fast. But if someone has actually studied the mechanics, or really watched some youtube walththrough videos....they may lie about having done it just to get into a group.
-
My first oryx completion, I went in blind. I just copied what everyone else was doing and luckily the party leader gave out clear instructions as to who does what and when they do it.
-
Yeah I agree. I run about five raids a week two of which are just helping people out. And the thing is when we ask hey have u ran it were just trying to figure out if they need a guide. Constantly people are saying they have finished and we get t the daughters and its very obvious they have not. I got to say I dont blame them though it is the community that has caused this.
-
I'd got invited to the Daughters Checkpoint and asked me if I've done this part before. I said yes when I really haven't, but they were chill so they soon caught on and just taught me the order of the platforms. Got myself a cloak and some boots.
-
I have my own clan and good friends in RL and never use LFG or will never touch it
-
Agreed. Just tell the truth. It doesn't take that long to learn the mechanics. They sound more confusing than they really are. I played with this guy the other day who was constantly giving people "advice" and kept talking about how he beat the raid ten times. When we got to totems he kept stepping off the platform with the aura and leaving before it transferred to other people. I think we wiped at totems at least four times due to that guy. Unsurprisingly when we get to daughters he doesn't understand counter clockwise.
-
Only way to get experience is to lie otherwise people wont let you join.
-
Im just a little surprised so many people have yet to do it. Called in my ToO favors to get it done the first time, now its pretty easy and we usually finish in an hour or so.
-
3 RepliesI lied the first time through Daughters and Oryx. Mainly because I have to use LFG for Raids half the time. I was able to be the add controller and such during both fights and was able to observe and listen to the chatter and learn what to do. I never got discovered as a lie. Now I have about 10+ completions. Didn't really get anything good from that first time though. Guess I got what I deserved.
-
We get to the daughters bit, i ask.. Does everyone know what to do on this bit? Everyone, yeah ive done it loads of times. Ok then. Walk in, wait a minute then suddenly... Why has everything gone black n white? Shouts one voice. Just jump off the edge! Eyes roll

11 RepliesBecause 90% of the people that play this game will boot anyone for not knowing what to do.
-
Have anyone else notice people with the kingbane emblem join for fresh and they don't know what to do fresh - deathsinger
-
1 ReplyFor the record, people will bite your head off, people are assholes. Anyone sherpaing the raid right now is insane, especially with hard mode coming.
-
I ain't not lied I've beat up to deathsinger then me team booted me
-
I've had experienced players leave and seen the inexperienced be booted from fireteams when I've done raids. They don't speak up because they're afraid they'll be booted. While I understand you should let the fireteam know because I know several people who will help out people who haven't done the raid yet and don't know what they're doing. Eventually you'll find a team that will show you the ropes, don't give up. I spent 6 hours yesterday getting a new team to Oryx. While we didn't complete Oryx (a lot of them had to go at that point) they all now know the mechanics of the raid.
-
If you haven't done it just watch YouTube tutorials, best way to be prepared.

2 RepliesHelping a friend get the black spindle last week. A random from my list jumps in. I ask if he knows what to do. Of course he says yeah I've run it multiple times. Has we are about to go up the teleporter he says "so once we get up here we just have to kill the boss in under 10 min right?"
booted and unfriended immediately
6 RepliesFunny story: So me and my friends (who have now formed a clan together) run the raid several times a week to help people out with getting clears. Our only rules are you listen, learn, cooperate, and be honest. One week however, someone had to leave mid raid. So we pull in some little kid just to have 6 people. We ask him if he knows how to kill Daughters and Oryx. He tells us he's killed daughters and hasn't killed Oryx but knows what he's doing. I, being the sarcastic person I am, jokingly said "Alright well let's hope you're telling the truth." (I normally trust people). So we clear the Edge Jump (which he took forever on) and we get to daughters. Goes well, did the 2 run strat. But then when we killed them and we pick up the loot, the kid, in a very confused tone says "Shroud of Ir'Anuk..?" I proceed to ask him "Wait, did you say you just got the Shroud of Ir'Anuk?" He said yes, and he is called out for being a liar, as you only get that on your first kill and he was on his only raid ready character. And then we get to Oryx. We decided to try with him, assuming he had watched videos or something. I say once more, "I really hope you know what you're doing." On the second or third relic run, he leaves mid fight, and we five manned Oryx easier than we were killing him with the kid there Tl;dr don't trust people in video games.
-
I always ask when we start and everyone says yeah we have. Then, I ask after a couple runs of oryx and 3 speak up. I then say, "next time speak up so that we can tell you what the -blam!- to do instead of wasting 30 mins of all our days"
