I always come across comments with people saying, "well your kd says otherwise."
It's a game. Enjoy it.
When I'm playing crucible, I will play to help my team and do the best I can, but I also have fun with it and I couldn't care less what my stats are. I saw a post where someone was saying their K/D was low because they let their little brother play on his character some times. There's no need to make excuses for your stats. Play the game whatever way you want. If having a great K/D is what you strive for, then all means, slay away! I just don't like the trend in the community to alienate people for a stat that doesn't matter. This is a game. Have fun with it!
Cheers guardians!

Edited by NYDIBS: 10/13/2015 3:14:50 PMmy only issue with k/d is that too many things influence it, yes, I know its kills/deaths but: your loadout matters if in a fireteam vs solo it makes a huge difference playlists matter though not much, but yes, it is easier to maintain a higher k/d in certain playlists Ive outplayed plenty of players with higher k/d than me, even in trials, but I can only do so much when I get double or triple teamed

6 RepliesHere is the problem. You're correct to an extant but people with low k/d don't have a place to voice their opinion. I don't have a great k/d so I generally don't jump into big debates about pvp. The same as I don't talk to people about running a 5k. Yes I've ran in my life but I've never ran a 5k so I have no place for an opinion. You've played pvp and you may only go in to complete quests or bounties. That's a big reason mine is low and that's fine. But you can't say this gun is op or if you do this you're a scrub because the immediate response is "you have a shit k/d so everything in the game is op to you" where as when a person with a high k/d says it people tend to think "well this guy is good and thinks this isn't right, he must know what he's talking about" it's a matter of credibility.

3 RepliesYou can't help your team while being negative unless it's zone control. A team of all negatives literally never wins. K/D shows how good you are at the game.
-
True.
-
If you're a decent player, regardless of how much you screw around, you should be able to maintain at least a 1.0. So yes, KD is a pretty good indicator of skill.

12 RepliesEdited by Apollo: 10/13/2015 2:54:20 PMKd tracks ur overall kills and deaths and if u got more deaths than kills than I'm going to assume ur trash because get what your dying more than ur killing and you might be the reason why ur team lost and don't get me wrong sometimes u got to go and risk it for the objective but u can't go negative all the time
-
Bump. This has to be seen by more people!

3 RepliesAll your kd shows is how much you hide and wait for someone to run by you. You sit arround corners with shotguns and camp with a sniper somewhere. Its not hard to have a good kd. No one gives a fuk about a kd but scrubs.
-
yeah, k/d doesnt matter but checking if someone has completed the raid before or knows what to do does? yeah right, they both matter. just because you suck in pvp doesnt make any aspect of it including the k/d any less important than pve or your raid completions/strike completions. i sometimes feel you guys are jealous of us. pvp players are all around good destiny players most of the time, pve players just try the crucible and arent very good at it often. why do you think there were so many complaints about trials? us pvp players actually start getting rewards for doing something we're good at and like a good half of the community enrages. dont criticize pvp unless you understand it. the game's suppose to be fun and its even funner when you get a good team together to wreck noobs like you in combat. jk

6 RepliesIt's more like if you're going to argue anything related to skill, then you had best actually be skilled and have the stats to prove it.

Edited by SOB BADD0GGIE: 10/13/2015 2:45:11 PMIf we want people to stop writing this, then we'll also need to address the PvP'ers that continually make threads about nerfing everything when they can't find a way or don't have the skill level to counter it. "OHH! Shotguns are too OP." Well then stop charging in to an area that you know houses a bunch of bad guys with shotguns (it's just an example. Don't crucify me) Or the others that just "rekt" everyone and still lost the game even though they went 20-20. It's a two way street. Pretty much, don't be an asshat and say a bunch of stuff when the stats that prove you wrong are a few clicks away. And K/D is not the best one to reference when it comes to that. Game averages are a much better stat. I'm aware this is just a game, but we are on a forum dedicated to the game, so it does carry some relevance. I 100% agree with your point, otherwise. It's a game. Enjoy it.

8 RepliesEdited by Tempo Delta: 10/13/2015 2:33:46 PMReally? Cause last time I checked in a Crucible match I got a 11.5 KD And the person in last had a 0.03 KD. But we're totally on the same skill level right? Sure. Overall KD is misleading. But I guarantee you that if you see someone in trials with over 1000 kills with a 2.0 KD, and you have something like a 0.50 KD. You bet your ass there's a good chance he's going to wipe the floor with you.

2 RepliesI don't get why crucible kiddies beat off over k/d outside of pvp garbage. Knowing how to shotgun slide with your conspiracy theory won't matter in kings fall, so shut up about it
-
I wanna see if a team with 0.5kd can beat a team of 1.5kd. Won't happen in any of the modes but keep thinking that kd doesn't matter :)
-
10 RepliesK/d only matters to insecure ego maniacs who must feel like they are better than the next person.
-
PSA: Don't attempt to be objective on the subjective.
-
1 ReplyPSA: It does.
-
A person with a poor K/D commenting on a matter of skill is not to be taken seriously. Poor K/D meaning negative.
-
My k/d is terrible. So I just don't play crucible. Still enjoy the balls off this game.
-
Exactly, someone with a 0.4 is literally the exact same as someone with a 4.0, obviously.
In case it wasn't clear, I was joking, and you are wrong.
11 RepliesEdited by bilbo t baginzz: 10/13/2015 7:14:23 AMSo if i had a 0.10 K/D with 10k kills 100k death you would say to me that my K/D doesnt matter... K/D does matter if you want to win.. K/D goes hand in hand with the total score you get each game which in most cases helps with the total score your team gets.. in almost all cases if you're dying far more often then you are getting kills your not helping the team. People who say otherwise suck at PvP and are making up excuses for their lack of skill. EDIT: Before people say "im good at the game but i just die to often by running for the objective".. well sorry but this means you play like an idiot and are reckless.. you suck at PvP... good players play smart and play to their strengths and doing this doesnt mean you take PvP to serious it means you dont play like a retard.

It's the only thing that matters.
-
3 RepliesI'm sure mine was ruined when I first started playing cause I just picked around in the crucible for bounties but now I'm better and don't sadly have much to show for it but I completely agree it doesn't matter its just a numbers game
-
2 RepliesDepends on what your doing, many guys with good KD might be on control and doing 0 to help Your team take a base etc. I'll never have a great control KD due to this altho I think 1.30KD ain't bad for that mode
-
Sounds like you are the one making excuses for k/d. If u didn't care then u wouldn't need to post. Plenty of people have the same carefree attitude as you, and have a high k/d. Even when I'm having fun, I still actually try to kill people. My k/d isn't good, but I trust that it's an accurate representation of my ability.
