I always come across comments with people saying, "well your kd says otherwise."
It's a game. Enjoy it.
When I'm playing crucible, I will play to help my team and do the best I can, but I also have fun with it and I couldn't care less what my stats are. I saw a post where someone was saying their K/D was low because they let their little brother play on his character some times. There's no need to make excuses for your stats. Play the game whatever way you want. If having a great K/D is what you strive for, then all means, slay away! I just don't like the trend in the community to alienate people for a stat that doesn't matter. This is a game. Have fun with it!
Cheers guardians!

Edited by KAL-EL_UK74: 10/13/2015 3:50:21 PMK/D means completely nothing. The sad people that fiddle with themselves over a high K/D aint a clue. Example, a player can be utter trash running around and get killed, but he's found out he's good with a sniper. He then sits at the back of map and snipes and gets around 20 kills and maybe 5 deaths. His K/D will be high. Now if he plays PvP like this every game his overall K/D will be high say 3-4 and peeps will go OMG he's a pr0 gamer!!! etc etc. Until ranked or private matches will prove otherwise.

1 ReplyK/Dadox. If you say your K/D matters - you're called a douche and told that it doesn't matter. If you say K/D doesn't matter - you're called a scrub and told it does matter. K/Dadox.

2 RepliesActually it does matter. Does the team with the shittest K/D's always win? Nope! The team that wins is the one with the highest score and K/D's.
-
6 RepliesKd doesn't matter, But if you're telling me how to play and your stats are Poop. That's where we have a problem.

I think it's legit if some salty Sal comes into the forums calling people out for whatever. You should only talk trash if you can back it up.

1 ReplyI'm an average pvp player, but k/d gets into my head sometimes that I get nervous playing. My heart beats fast and then I stop enjoying it. Though my first game of control on my hunter I got a 5.0 k/d and I haven't been able to play with my hunter again because I'm nervous that it will go down lmao I used to not care lmao

9 RepliesEdited by Hork3r: 10/13/2015 3:41:50 PMMe versus you, any gamemode, any map. I will wipe the floor with you. KD does matter.

K/D only matters on the forums when you get children whining about everything while rocking a solid .8-1.2 k/d. Or they're talking shit about how good they are. It's always good then to point out that their K/D is exactly average, and they're really no different than the middle 1/3 of destiny players. It's a useful tool for humbling children who like to run their mouths.

Lolololz ur kd sux git gud skrub!!!11!1!

Maybe not all game modes... but if you have a negative K/D in clash... what the hell were you doing?

1 ReplyYet is say a positive k/d. Take me for example would beat your ass in crucible

Edited by db0ssman: 10/13/2015 3:30:34 PMI don't really play crucible, but I agree. Really you can only tell the most coarse of information from someone's KD. Someone with a K/D below 1 is probably not that good, someone with a K/D above 1 is probably at least alright. That is really all you can tell. If you see someone with a K/D of 2.0 there is absolutely no way of telling if they are better than someone with a K/D of 1.5. That person with a 1.5 might have that high of a K/D despite using really weak weapons (like scouts or pulse in vanilla), seeking out showdowns with the stronger players on the other team, focusing on objects in objective based games and sticking out matches where they are on a losing team. The person with the 2.0 might only have a 2.0 despite only using the OP guns de jure, avoiding stronger players while spawn camping newbs, only killing other players in objective based games and immediately leaving a match if they are on the weaker team. In my experience with PvE, it is usually the worse players that focus so much on light level. They cheesed their way to being a higher light level and are really pretty bad despite light level being one of the few indicators of skill in the game (though i know LL is a terrible indicator of skill). People that try and dismiss valid criticism or arguments based on K/D are probably much closer to later PvP player I described. TLDR: K/D is a poor indication of skill and it is probably comparatively poor PvP players that bring it up to shut down criticism (compared to people that are very good at PvP).

Negative kd, git gud skrub

12 RepliesEdited by Knives: 10/13/2015 3:04:48 PMThe stats matter as a measure of how often you do poorly in crucible... If you let your little bro play, then in the long run, you are pretty much crippling some team in some crucible match. KD = how often you kill vs how often you die. It's that simple. It doesn't matter if you are playing the objective or not...it's always better to have a positive KD and the higher it is, typically better you are at killing vs dying. Crucible is competitive. People are competitive. I understand that you play for fun but some players play to win (which is the objective btw) and some of us have crucible QUESTS that require WINS...so... Additionally, the "Well, your KD says otherwise" is typically used to discredit someone who is talking a lot of sh!t about crucible when their KD sucks... let's say we have a topic about Algebra. Would you trust someone that failed Algebra or someone that have a Masters in Mathematics? Same thing here. But I agree. Just have fun guys.

Sorry, but if I'm on a team with a bunch of players with negative KD's and we want to actually win the match...I'm pretty sure it's gonna matter.

Edited by ScoobaSteve G: 10/13/2015 3:26:36 PMYou're only saying that because your KDR sucks. Git gud screb! Stahp makkin exsqueses

You didn't support your statement in that wall of text..

Edited by HoboFighter: 10/13/2015 3:24:52 PMI sometimes like to sing 'it doesn't even matter' by Lincoln Park after a game with a horrendous KD
-
Edited by Justicar Thorn: 10/13/2015 3:24:32 PMK/D only matters in non-objective based modes. Some people only PTFO. if you PTFO and die, oh well. At least you're not a KDR hound camping in a corner in rift.

Edited by kidEthereal: 10/13/2015 2:25:40 PMI think what OP is trying to say is that it shouldn't matter. Which I agree with. But it does if you want to win.
-
Op K/D sucks. Post gave me cancer. Thanks......
-
2 RepliesK/D isn't an absolute sole factor in determining skill but if you run a negative K/D 0.9 & below you're most likely not going to be very helpful if a team wants to win
-
Doesn't matter to you. Please don't think you can speak for what matters to me.

Edited by NYDIBS: 10/13/2015 3:14:50 PMmy only issue with k/d is that too many things influence it, yes, I know its kills/deaths but: your loadout matters if in a fireteam vs solo it makes a huge difference playlists matter though not much, but yes, it is easier to maintain a higher k/d in certain playlists Ive outplayed plenty of players with higher k/d than me, even in trials, but I can only do so much when I get double or triple teamed
