I always come across comments with people saying, "well your kd says otherwise."
It's a game. Enjoy it.
When I'm playing crucible, I will play to help my team and do the best I can, but I also have fun with it and I couldn't care less what my stats are. I saw a post where someone was saying their K/D was low because they let their little brother play on his character some times. There's no need to make excuses for your stats. Play the game whatever way you want. If having a great K/D is what you strive for, then all means, slay away! I just don't like the trend in the community to alienate people for a stat that doesn't matter. This is a game. Have fun with it!
Cheers guardians!

23 RepliesEdited by ShadowAngel9228: 10/13/2015 3:35:57 PMI agree k/d means nothing in destiny but if it were halo I'd have a different view. Destiny isn't a true competitive game, hence why k/d really has no value unless there's a fanatic thinking he's good at a game that isn't pvp focused. 1. Destiny is more about who has the better gun over who is actually more skilled. Halo did it right. All of you got the exact same gun, now who uses it better? Skill. 2. Not everyone is in it to win it. People are always running bounties or playing with a group of friends to chat. Their main focus generally is to play and game, not win all the time. 3. Lack of equal footing for both teams, no symmetrical maps. Its all completely random on who spawns on the better side of the map. A symmetrical map would neutralize this as a Map would then be the same all around. 4. There is no skill based matchmaking in the game. When a 3.0 goes vs a 0.75 k/d player you know the game isn't picking equal teams so one is generally always going to lose by 5k plus points. Very little do I see games come down to the wire. 5. If k/d really was truly important where are the destiny tournaments that halo, CoD and other games have had? That's proof enough destiny in its current state isn't designed for competitive play. 6. To many ways to over inflate your stats in this game. Control for example. We know someone will always step onto the capture points. So is it skill if someone sits far enough away to stay off radar and snipe the point? I call that stupidity of the other team jumping straight at the objective, its smart of the sniper but it doesn't make him skilled and it inflates his k/d. K/d means nothing until pvp is more competitive focused. For now anyone who cares about k/d cares about it just cause they think it's an accomplishment. I'd give you that, IF the games PvP was serious but it isn't.

Have to agree, at best it is situational. My k/d is horrible, for two reasons. 1. I suck at PvP, not afraid to admit it. 2. Running around with a sword with no ammo because of being forced to in order to get an exotic. I have never checked anyone else's K/d because I don't care, and too many people act like it is the only thing that matters in the game. When did people stop having fun playing games? It's not a job, it's supposed to be fun people.

My k/d is 1.13, but I normally just play control and often put myself in harms way to capture points (especially B on most maps). Getting the W is more important, especially in IB. Problem is, I don't run in a clan and don't have any regulars to play with... So, I end up rolling with shitty randoms. The times I HAVE played with a team that knows what they're doing, my k/d is almost always above 2. So, this is going to be a loooong frustrating week, I have a feeling.

1 ReplyMy overall K/D is 2.02, and a 3.25 on my warlock. I guess that makes me a legend?
-
Nah. Doesn't matter much. Particularly in objective game modes. It matters if you're playing trials or any straight up deathmatch modes. In control tho I'd rather have teammates that just go positive playing the objectives or making key plays around heavy drops. I don't give a shit about a high KD if you're playing away from the objectives.

Overall your combat rating is really more of a tell sign if you're a good player or not. Personally mine is at about 255 and I hold it there. The average is about 100-150. I don't brag about it because when I go into crucible, I get beat sometimes and I win sometimes. I have no clue if I'm better than them just by looking at numbers on a paper. Although, if you do trash talk me on the forums and you have horrible stats, I will assume that I can beat you. Because you'd rather be bitching on the forums instead of practicing and getting better

6 RepliesI think it goes your kd is thrue the roof the virginity is strong with this one oh I have a gf loser sure you do pal why don't I believe that...
-
29 RepliesDestiny is not competitive so stats don't matter.
-
So playing trials with a 0.4 kid is ok? Well I guess it's no better than a carry.
-
It does depend on how you play, my trials kd was a 2.2 with a solid team, when I started carrying randoms k went down to a 1.5kd aha, revive snipes where horrible if people didn't listen to not revive you. Aha.
-
3 RepliesI agree that you should have fun, but when it comes down to helping your team win a game then k/d matters
-
23 RepliesLower K/D players always try to find an excuse like, 'oh you just camp' or 'you don't play the objective in control'. Lower K/D players who bash higher K/D players tend to have a higher ego and double standards. They don't care about stats yet they will refers to theirs in a positive light even if its bad. They always go by their best game and parade it around like thats their average play yet they always fail to account for their worse ones. They have no perception of consistency. They don't respect the opinion of a better player if it doesn't fit in line with their view of the game. Lower K/D players value 'honor' the idea of not using 'crutches' as it makes them feel 'dirty' and a false overconfidence of their in game impact when they think their k/d is lower because they are 'objective players'. Lower K/D players who lecture higher K/D players on how to play the game are the scum of this forum. Only because they're not willing to take in an insight that differs from them that is proven to work better [Hence K/D disparity]. Lower K/D players with high egos need to go. I'm not trying to promote elitism with higher k/d players but elitism stemming from lower k/d players make no sense and I have no respect for it at all.

honestly, since my hunter was my first character, she has a pretty bad k/d, but my warlock somewhat has a better k/d. idk i guess it's bc i've been playing destiny for a while. i'd like to have a better k/d to be proud of it. but that's just me
-
tell that to most pvp clans
-
It does depend on how you play, my trials kd was a 2.2 with a solid team, when I started carrying randoms k went down to a 1.5kd aha, revive snipes
-
Kd only matters in trials sorta God bless you all and your families:)
-
It's funny how some of you say KD doesnt matter... Then trials comes around and you beg for someone with a high kd on your team. But hey thats none of my business :D
-
2 RepliesAs much as I hate PvP, I'm curious, what is a good K/D ratio?
-
I agree, i love to kill myself after each elimination round we win. So even if we won 5-0 i still died at least 3 or 4 times probably lol
-
PSA if it didn't matter you wouldn't be making a post about KD
-
2 Replieslol had to share this

Edited by Aprovoked_Mango: 10/13/2015 3:33:16 PMbecause its children who think theyre gonna be pro so its the only thing that matters in the entirety of life, least thats the impression you get on some threads.. However, its destiny, its not exactly the top competitive game out there and as I said It feels like its only 90's kids and older that understand gaming is meant to be for fun, the seriousness behind it all is just nuts. But hey if you can get pro out of gaming, good for you
-
7 RepliesIt's not like we all get on and play Crucible to compete, I normally just half ass my way through the daily a couple times a week. Thus, my 0.9 KD.
-
My overall KDR is a 3.6+ and I agree with this post. Previously, I had an ambition to improve my KDR drastically over summer vacation and accomplished my goal of a 3.5 from a 2.2 at the beginning with ~60k kills recorded. I started to recently use a wider variety of guns frequently and not just what is "good" or the meta anymore (fusions are beast now). But the main thing I agree with this thread is don't ever let some elitist prick talk you down just for stats. If they harass you for making a statement purely because of your stats, they're just pathetic then. Cheers OP! :)

Edited by KAL-EL_UK74: 10/13/2015 3:50:21 PMK/D means completely nothing. The sad people that fiddle with themselves over a high K/D aint a clue. Example, a player can be utter trash running around and get killed, but he's found out he's good with a sniper. He then sits at the back of map and snipes and gets around 20 kills and maybe 5 deaths. His K/D will be high. Now if he plays PvP like this every game his overall K/D will be high say 3-4 and peeps will go OMG he's a pr0 gamer!!! etc etc. Until ranked or private matches will prove otherwise.
