PSA: Your K/D doesn't matter.

I always come across comments with people saying, "well your kd says otherwise." It's a game. Enjoy it. When I'm playing crucible, I will play to help my team and do the best I can, but I also have fun with it and I couldn't care less what my stats are. I saw a post where someone was saying their K/D was low because they let their little brother play on his character some times. There's no need to make excuses for your stats. Play the game whatever way you want. If having a great K/D is what you strive for, then all means, slay away! I just don't like the trend in the community to alienate people for a stat that doesn't matter. This is a game. Have fun with it! Cheers guardians!

  • You can be good and have a low kd. But, if you have a high kd youre probably not bad

    • IF I ever sully myself with the Crucible, it's in Control matches anyway. Nobody's individual K/D means anything there. If your team manages to holds all 3 Control Points, every ONE of your kills is worth THREE from the other team. So even if THEIR K/D is TWICE as good as yours in that match, you still win. On Rift where the whole point is to assault the other team's bases, how many kills you get means absolutely nothing. Same goes for Salvage. In fact most of the Crucible is about OBJECTIVES, not individual kills. I've learned something over the years, beginning when the Halo forums were full of K/D try-hards (they still are, I just don't go there anymore). I learned that these people have absolutely no life, no joy, no true purpose or achievements. So pitiful and meaningless is their existence that they desperately cling to the most trivial and irrelevant "accomplishment" because it gives them the dim illusion that they're good for something. So when you, or I, or anyone with half a brain cell rattling around in their head challenges the importance of something as utterly UNimportant as a video game K/D spread, these try-hards absolutely lose their minds because you have questioned the one and only thing that gives them any sense of value amidst their deep self-loathing hidden behind hollow bravado.

      • a lot of people let their friends play on their accounts as well so it is not their "true" k/d

        • The problem with K/D isn't that it doesn't matter (although it doesn't matter to me personally), it's that it matters in context more than it matters in general. If you're playing an objective-based game, and whatever YOU are doing in the game is actively helping your team win, than your K/D could be 0.001 and you'd still be fine. I used to get absolutely shot to hell capturing flags in Halo, but I'll be damned if it didn't get the flag back to our side eventually. However, if you're playing a mode that's based on killing, obviously your K/D matters a lot more. And if you already have people on the team who are essentially playing the cannon fodder/sacrifice role, then yeah, you should probably be a more careful player. Either way, people definitely need to worry about it less. Unless you're in Trials, in which case I guess I don't blame people for caring.

Crucible is just casual trash anyway so anyone bragging about their crucible stats are not worth talking to begin with as they are just children or casual gamers

          • I'm sure my K/D is shite for yesterday because I play rift and don't worry too much about killing people. (I'd get probably 9 kills a match or so) But i probably ignited the rift 15 times in 4 games, so K/D isn't the key to winning :P

          • Hear, hear! I do the same. When I play Pantheon and the other team sets up snipers on that long hall overwatching B, I'll go invis, then run around the bottom, up the stairs and grenade shotty their snipers. Yes, I die. Every time. But, I take 1-2 of them with me. After a few times of this, they get VERY uncomfortable sitting there sniping. So, while my K/D looks like crap, those guys aren't sniping my teammates, and allowing my team to score kills. Lose the battle . . . win the war.

          • Most people who say this or bring it up are usually awful. when looking to party up with random players all you have to go off of is stats such as W/L and K/D etc. This game's pvp is pretty easy so with that said I'm taking someone with 1.7 over someone who can barely scratch a 1. in overall crucible stats.

                  • If it doesn't then why will a .8 kd team lose every time to a 2.0 team in trials ? Baddies trying to compensate Have fun struggling in trials with other baddies cause good players have a kd requirement

In any shooting game, I take a greater pride in my W/L ratio. Kinda makes my skin crawl when someone says "I actually won because I got the most kills, even the game said I lost"
