Nerfing shotguns because of crucible is starting to become really disgusting. Just because they are powerful in crucible, doesn't mean they are overpowered on PvE. Actually, they are pretty weak, useless in crota, useless in vog, and useless in oryx (especially oryx) and I don't think bungie realizes this. They are so caught up in the crucible kids complaining, they don't realize that's only helping them, and severely impacting PvE. They are becoming weaker and weaker every day now. Some of them require the best perks to even be considered decent. Bungie, all I ask is you take a step back and focus on the game as a whole, not just PVP. Also wanted to point out there's a chance you might get knee pads in the new update. That's just stupid. Also bungie heads up The Chaperone still sucks. But hey, I understand, giving players knee pads is more important.
EDIT: so for all the crucible kids who don't know how shot package will effect PvE, that's not the main point. The main point is that shotguns are getting hammered over and over again, and it's starting to affect PvE. Shot package can be very useful. It can make it so crits are easier to hit. My conspiracy theory can't 1 shot a level 8 captain when I have 301 light and it has 300 damage, even if it's mostly head shots. That's ridiculous.shot package helps all bullets hit crits, thus successfully obtaining a kill
EDIT: so we're trending now, and but hurt has been summoned. Glad to see everyone's opinions overall though :)

2 RepliesHold up. So now when i go into crucible, i'm going to see.......skill? You must be joking
-
2 RepliesWell, considering they were the go to option after TLW and thorn, it's not surprising in the slightest. It means there might be some actual diversity within PVP. Which is a good thing.

Edited by xPLASMAx21: 10/9/2015 4:06:03 PMPvE will hardly be affected by this. Enemies are so large that decreased spread was redundant and Close and/or Personal is a much better replacement. The OG Shotgun Nerf was to stop them being OP in PvE (which they were) and they are now perfect where they are. The only reason we don't use shotguns in raids it because getting close to Bosses is generally a bad idea (although they are still remarkably effective on the innumerable ads). Bungie has finally hit the nail on the head as to where shotguns should be, in PvP AND PvE, and people are still moaning.

If scrubs can't use shotguns and are forced to use weapons that require skill, eventually they may get good. Then I will go back to a 0.5 k/d because I suck at PvP. Shotgunners are easy kills. Please stop nerfing Bungie.
-
Exactly. Plus after they destroy one type of gun another simply rises to replace it as the new meta. Just watch, in 3 months lucky round will be removed from all snipers because snipers will become the next OP thing -_-
-
2 RepliesJust give up man.bungie is always gonna cater to the ppl who suck the most and complain about it soon there will be a new gun rising to the top that the good PvP players use that bungie will nerf.and I'm sure it will be a pulse rifle lol..bungie makes stupid updates. I still can't believe they cut the hopscotch impact in half.its not fair our content gets cut l from lack of creativity from bungie..its ridiculous
-
5 RepliesJust check your 11k kills with shotguns versus the pitiful 5k for snipers.
-
2 RepliesLook buddy ol pal I know a thing or 2 about shotties and believe me when I say it... they need a super nerf!!! Here's why>>> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rx9yxPhH-U

Here's how this going to go Bungie nerf shotgun Community complains Community will petition for shotgun to be buff Bungie ignore community Community continues to play but still complain Community then want another weapon nerfed. Repeat process.
-
So instead of arguing at against nerfing shotguns, why don't we tell Bungie that we want more balancing for PvE and PvP SEPARATELY.
-
5 RepliesIf only the applied irl physics to Shotguns, then it would be fixed
-
Agreed
-
Edited by ubn: 10/9/2015 3:00:40 PMDon agree at all here. The buff from last time made them to good. Pretty much everything was 1-shotted, similar to what razer light does with its uppercut. It's a lot more balanced now in pve. I've never had any problems with shotguns pvp. It's a lot more skillbased.

6 RepliesIt's a shotgun. It's supposed to be lethal when within 5 ft of someone and since they reduced the range and everything it did exactly what they set out to do. Now you have to be way closer and people are still griping about it. It's a shotgun. That's the type of gun for Close Combat Situations and people are still complaining about all of it and as we have already heard Bungie is once again going to give in to these people and further reduce them. I don't know how much closer we will have to get since you already have to pretty much be on top of them for these things to work effectively. Yes you are totally correct that all of this nerf shit has gotten totally out of control and Bungie is the one who let it get to this point by placating to all of the whiners that post and repost the same junk every single day. It's frustrating and I wish they would just make them their own game mode since they will never be able to satisfy these people doing this crap no matter what they do for them.
-
I think bringing up the damage buff will help. I'm ok with the shot package being removed. In PvE i only cared about impact. The 45% damage reduction in PvE hurt bad. I think a 20% would have been fine.
-
2 Repliesway they can end the sniper and shotgunning mayhem in crucible is by giving a full clip and reserve of special ammo at start and no spec ammo drops after start.... make ppl use primaries.
-
1 ReplyBungie said that they would bring it back at a later date when they were better prepared for it or something along those lines, I really don't know what they mean by that but it seems like it won't be gone for ever, just super nerfed when it returns
-
3 RepliesShottys suck in pve. Swords the only way to go now
-
The shotgun on my titan works great for pve and I use a sidearm in PvP, I see no problem with the nerf
-
2 Replies
My conspiracy theory can't 1 shot a level 8 captain when I have 301 light and it has 300 damage
look, another player that doesn't have a clue how the scaling system works.... ;-)
-
Shotguns have two real uses in PvE and the recent nerf does nothing to change that. Use 1: Speed-running easy stuff for fun and/or engrams (Read: Vanguard/Heroic Strikes) Use 2: Clearing beefy targets that like to close in, like Minotaurs. Shotguns have never been a weapon you can use on bosses reliably because it puts you in range of the one-shot melee and the massive amount of damage that the adds and boss do.
-
Wtf are you talking about shotguns are for close range and your not supposed to close range boss fights
-
I really think that no matter how many times you nerf the shotgun Im pretty sure people are gonna use it anyways, I normally use shotguns just because I suck with the other weapons.
-
3 Repliesthey are still going to be great, just more secondary like they are supposed to be...its just you "the wielder" actually have to put yourself in a reasonably risky zone to capitalize...so it seems the b!tching is because you cant 1 shot me from across the hall...and if thats the case then nerf them twice...
