I understand shortening things for time's sake, but "pop" is no harder to say than use. I'm pretty sure it doesn't pop when you use it.

Edited by Revanchist1ab: 10/3/2015 9:36:57 PMThe term "pop" is used frequently to describe a short action; ex: "pop a stim." I'd guess it came from the idea of "popping the top" off a bottle. In Destiny you could associate the way the image of synthesis changes when you use it on the menu. It sort of pops out at you, to let you know it has been used. "Pop" is also phonetically quicker to say in some dialects. Try saying "pop" quickly... Then try saying "use." You should see the difference. If not... Try repeating the two words. "Pop" is clearer to hear and uses sharper sounds as opposed to "use" which is softer and in my opinion becomes more incoherent the faster you say it.

1 Reply"Hang on, I need to expend an heavy ammo synthesis which I shall then load into my rocket launcher heavy weapon so that I may be ready to resume battle!"

I also imagine them as balloons. It makes it more fun. Imagine a guardian walking around with 200 balloons strapped to his backpack.

Papa synth. He died when I was very little. He taught me how to rock the synthesiser and since then it's been an emotional journey. Getting destiny let me say his name without feeling sad, but rather, feeling happy. I heard someone say pop a synth and I was like "wh, what?" And he said it again and I started crying. Before you say something, think about the feelings of fictional stories. Ok? Thanks

Cause many people equate it with popping a pill for some reason.
