Queen is alive, I believe she has a plan to defeat the hive and cripple them forever and or making them apart of her empire like she did with the fallen. I believe eris is working for the queen, and helping her to defeat oryx. The stretch is perhaps the queen wants the taken kings power if there is a way to do that.
