I am very happy with the Taken King and I love how we got new subclasses! Lots of fun, and very creative and I praise Bungie for making them. However, the old subclasses... well, some of them got a bit less viable with 2.0 and the Taken King. One of them is Arc Blade.
I have been using Arc Blade for a very long time and I know what it's good at and what it's bad at. Unfortunately, at the moment, Arc Blade is good at nothing.
But.. but... Arc Blade can dive into groups! and kill lots of people! and you can survive 750 shotgun blasts to the face...!
I don't like to be judgemental. If you say that, I will give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you don't play Bladedancer, or that you don't play it a lot. Anyone who does immediately realizes that you cannot survive shotgun blasts unless your opponent is incapable of aiming a shotgun, let alone more than one person. A shotgun blast from a high impact shotgun followed by a melee is almost always a guaranteed kill provided you land your shots.
About diving into groups: well, to be fair you could do it previously if you were very good with the super. How, you might ask? By using Blink in a way where you could evade enemy fire and confuse people who try to shotgun/teamshot you. However, Blink was nerfed in two ways.
The first way was the animation delay, which was very fair and needed. Blink was previously too fast to react to and so the person putting in the button inputs, who had advance knowledge of the Blink, had an unfair reaction advantage. That's gone now.
The second, unmentioned, nerf was how after Blinking, there is a delay until your weapons ready. Makes sense. No one likes Blink shotgun, am I right? However, the consequence of this is that because Arc Blade is treated as a weapon, this delay applies to your slash attack. This means that if you intend to use Blink to dodge enemy fire (which is the only way to get into range without getting destroyed, even in a 1v1 engagement) you are effectively screwed because you can't stab for a very long time, however the person you are up against has ample time to run away or kill you.
Also keep in mind that every single super (aside from Stormtrance, and I'm unsure about Hammer of Sol) will kill a Bladedancer in one hit. However, the Bladedancer is only capable of killing a Golden Gun in one hit. Other supers will require two stabs. This would be fine if you could close the gap with Blink but that's not an option.
All I am saying is that either give Arc Blade an exception from the Blink weapon ready delay, or increase the damage resistance because right now it's simply not viable.

1 ReplyGive Arc Blade an over shield. It's too easy to kill someone in Arc Blade. So much for being the very shadow of death
-
Bladedancer was a crutch for most players The class was the easiest and most effective for crucible I played mine to a 2.0 KD with little effort
-
-
How about you get an overshield but no blink during bladedance? Because getting both will be as OP as the Hammer of sol.
-
2 RepliesIt takes 2 hammers to kill a stormtrance but idk about the others. I assume all classes have the same damage resistance so it would probably take 2 hammers to kill a bladedancer
-
As someone who absolutely detests Blink, this actually seems like a fair compromise. After all, it only affects their super.
-
If it wasn't abused so much they wouldn't have nerfed it
-
Just verifying HoS does take 2 hits to kill a blade dancer at full health. If you're close to a HoS user then they're good as dead. The shoulder charge talent may change this though..

2 RepliesOr quit being a blink bitch

What other class needs to pause for a second after jumping? I can't believe all these whiners got blink nerfed. I don't even play my hunter or warlock in crucible anymore.

13 RepliesEdited by Tekn0z: 9/21/2015 8:55:22 AMNot "almost always" - a high impact shotgun + melee is a guaranteed kill.

I don't notice a big change with my hunter. I play mostly with my lock tho.
-
Blink is for cowards
-
3 RepliesGet ready for shadestep
-
2 RepliesDude. Blink died. I haven't touched it since. :.( serious pain. The warlocks get a blink helm. I'll just main a lock.
-
I think the only thing needed on arc blade from year 1 is the arc bolt damage, it should still do 122, the nerf to it was unnecessary and extra
-
3 RepliesI'm still quite scary with Bladedancer. Though I rarely use my super.

good post...haven't used at blade since patch and from the sounds of it I doubt I eill

I haven't noticed this that much. I was going to say we were fine.. But yeah this may need a change.

2 RepliesNow you know how defender Titans feel lol. Useless.

But on a serious note, I do notice it is really easy to kill a blade dancer with a shot gun. Especially with a gun like the fourth horsemen. That. Thing. Is. A. Monster. I don't even have to melee to kill a full health blade dancer with it. I just wait until they're in my face and it unload a full magazine into them and watch their health melt away. Plus it has final round and a really fast rate of fire. I can do the same thing to striker Titans and void walkers with it so don't feel too bad.
