Swords in Strikes. Why?
Guys, I get that the new swords are cool, but for the love of all things holy...please don't use them in strikes against the boss. I've seriously had 3 heroic strikes in a row were [b]both[/b] my allies had swords and were absolutely determined to use them on the boss. And die.
They give you armor, but not [i]that[/i] much >.>
Edit: Can we assume from the fact that I mentioned they died that they're *not* using it correctly?
There's so many responses saying "if" you use it right. They weren't.
We can also assume I'm referring to the bosses that do the special near one-shot stomps. Not the flayers lol

Swords are viable DPS against bosses in: Dust Palace Sunless Cell S.A.B.E.R (first form) Sword are good at finishing off: Shield Brothers Taniks Sword are not viable against: Rockets Mc D[]ckface Screaming w[]ore

Yeah my one friend I was grinding strikes with kept doing that! But ok the flayers, it's sick. You can kill all of them in 30 seconds.

And granted, they're not great for any other boss. But if you have a tough Minotaur/captain/knight/servitor that needs quick killing, the sword can do it in two strikes. No other weapon can kill high rank enemies that quickly, I think.

It is generally a bad idea but if you Void Bow one of the Shield Brothers you can do insane damage to them with the swords.

I use the swords on bosses but I don't die doing it, you gotta know when to dodge their attacks

I beat Darkblade to death with two of my friends and our swords to the sound of 'Back in Black' while wearing the old guard shader and after just recently finishing that strike and receiving the Darkblade helm. It's just fun to do sometimes. It only works if you try at the last bit of health. Also you should know how to get the boss to melee before you run in swinging.

I once went through a whole 3-5 strikes with a Only the sword, even when it didn't have ammo. Only died 1-2 times per strike, there was usually a guy who did worse than me too lol

I have only gotten hit with 1 melee from a boss and killed from the nightfall.

My 2 buddies and I were running strikes last night where the rule was only sword and powers allowed to be used, even when you run out of heavy. Quite fun. And with the titan fire debuff and shadowshot debuff quite effective in co-ordinated poundings :D

Prooooooobably because swords are the most fun thing this game has ever introduced. It's a close range heavy powerhouse, now I don't need a mob special like a shotgun or sidearm

They work great against the Psion Flayers. Especially if you have a Titan punch with melting point first.
