So tired of seeing to many of these posts from people that don't understand that this game does fall into the category of MMO. That this will be a waste of time and easier to let my mute list grow bigger by adding one more person.

MMO = Massive Multiplayer Online. Destiny is not Massive. Destiny is just online RPG. There is a difference between MMO and just online.

There are more players playing at one time across many regions, even though you will not see more than a few at a time. A game can be considered a MMO in many aspects, though everyone just tends to think same way on what MMOs are.

Where are the massive amounts of people I play with online? They dont exist. 16 players in an instance doth NOT make the game an MMO.

[quote]Where are the massive amounts of people I play with online? I've only played with about 200 different players across many different times. That is only a tiny fraction of a percent of the player base that plays. Yeah 16 player instance doesn't make an MMO, do think there is only 10 stance groups running and only a handful of pvp matches being played at one time?
-
Ok so lets look at other games with the same mechanics. Path of Exile has town areas where people run around and you can group on the fly but thats not an MMO. COD has a whole bunch of games happening right now with anywhere between 16-32 players on each instance. Battlefield has even up to 64 players on certain maps. None of these are MMOs. Why? Because they are not massively multiplayer online games. An instanced town or area or matchmaking doesnt make something an MMO. Sure Destiny has MMO elements and some good ones at that, however badly implemented they are (e.g. no local voice chat to actually connect with players) For something to be an MMO, you have to be able to both join the same server separately (not as part of matchmaking) and then be able to run and find each other in game without grouping in a constantly online world that has a main server or main servers with potentially thousands of players you can simply walk up to and interact with. Destiny does not fit that bill at all. It is purely matchmaking and instanced with a light dusting of random players thrown into the same instance that you can potentially interact with.

Couldn't agree more with what u said. If only people weren't so dumb to say MMO hybrid lol.

Lol it's not even a rpg either this game is a joke

He mutes people because that's the desticle way of doing things. Avoid and down right refuse to acknowledge anything that doesn't fit their agenda. Destiny is an mmo when it fits their arguement (gear ascension) but isn't when compared to other games with more content. Or isn't when talking about a story. It's sad.

Game content or story does not make a game a MMO, it helps make the over all game better but still does nothing on deciding if a game is a MMO.

Destiny does not fall into the category of an MMO. It is not "massively multiplayer"....maybe drop an M

Do you seriously mute everyone you don't agree with? Good luck with real life.
-
Muting people on here means nothing. Real life argument are more interest than trying to argue over what a game should be sorted as by category. Cause many forget what MMO stands for and just follow what everyone says that word stand for.
-
Everyone knows what it stands for. Destiny apologists forget what it means. In no way do people play massively together in destiny. There are no 40 v 40 matches, no giant open worlds holding thousands. I'm happy you waved to a guy you once saw at the loot cave, but that isn't massive.

Lol so true.
