Actually there are changes slated in TTKing already announced with the state of Match Making!
Expanded Crucible: 8 new maps and 3 new modes. The modes are Mayhem, Rift, & Zone Control – only controlling matters, kills don’t.
Quests to ease new players in. 5 weekly bounties in addition to much faster daily bounties. Finish all 5 weekly bounties to unlock a big bad bounty where you have a chance at a powerful reward like a Legendary/Exotic weapon.
Better matchmaking for skill and connection.
The Crucible will have a “mercy rule” that will end “dramatically misbalanced” matches early to preserve player sanity/K/D
And on the IGN Fireteam chat Urk mentioned "Under the hood" improvements to the Match Making and connectivity systems.
Will it be enough? I 'unno, but it's one more step.

Edited by Fatal 0Efx: 8/11/2015 4:36:42 AMSo they are going to have better skill and connection based matchmaking yet they also need to include a mercy rule to account for their horrible skill-based matchmaking? Does not compute. LOL
-
That, and when playing solo vs a four+ man team.
-
Only way to do Skill based match making is by going off of stats (recent stats are usually what's used). Not everyone with a 2.0 K/D, for example, is at the same skill level. So boosted to those stats, some legitimately worked for them, and some just got extremely lucky. The mercy rule is if such an occurance of 2 similar teams in statistics, but have 2 completely different skill levels. It computes just fine

I was just being facetious.
-
Why not just match you like in trials? By connection.
-
Sounds good in theory but ends up with massive mismatches in skill. They need a ping cap and location options i.e. don't matchmake me with someone in a different continent.
-
I got match made with someone from the Middle East in trials today...the lag was unreal..I literally died with nobody near me
-
This game doesn't need to be matched by skill. The game would be a lot more balanced and competitive if everyone was on a good connection.
-
If the game priorities connection only you'll invite user drop off at an alarming rate especially with new players.
-
It doesn't matter scrubs need to get good like a lot of us that started playing fps games.
-
When you get rolled over by a team of 'pros' it's near impossible to adapt to that especially if the matchmaking parameters dictate that you only will meet that team over and over due to connection. Introduce a ping cap, a location filter and connection+skill.

Edited by Un1337ninj4: 8/11/2015 3:19:32 AMWhy not a bit of both? Reliable (if not the absolute best) connections but still at least somewhat in-line to prevent ROFLStomp situations for either team. Or at least that's the idea and I'm personally for it.
-
I'd rather have a team full of scrubs with good connections than sweaties with shitty connections.
