Edit: Thread name changed due to community retardation (not all, obviously, some put up an amazing argument, and have ultimately answered my original question)
The throwing knife gets a buff when brawler is active, which is a melee boost. But for example, during the Iron Banner and crucible bounties, shoulder charge counts as a melee kill, but throwing knives do not.
I know its a 'ranged weapon' but still sits in the melee slot. And it still considered the hunter's melee ability, just like the titan and warlock have flame punch, energy drain melee, etc

20 RepliesGuardians are wearing helmets... A knife will just bounce off. An electric shoulder/knee to the face will break hella bones bruh

Actually yes.

10 RepliesWe wear armour. The knife should bounce off of the armour/pierce the armour. The kick crushes the armour, therefore crushing the person.

I think the throwing knife is fine just the way it is.

For balance purposes. I used to think this too until I remembered GS hunters can carry two throwing knives and have an ability to reset the throwing knife cool down if you get a precision kill with it. Though thinking about it, it would be a near perfect counter to a titan's shoulder charge if the throwing knife could one hit kill with a headshot in PvP.

I'm not really complaining, as I run a titan and a Hunter. but by all rights, the physics don't make sense. if a flying knee can crush armor, then a Hunter melee should not do any damage considering a Hunter uses a knife. it should just slide off, unless directly stabbed. I'm not trying to spark a debate, or revive an old argument, just trying to shed light on something I don't fully understand. I know it's a game, and most games these days are pretty far fetched. But developers also attempt to make a game somewhat realistic, or as realistic as it can be. To make a truly fair online FPS, all melee attacks should do equal damage, regardless of perks. And beside, the Hunter is the only class where they don't get a shield from any one of their melee attacks.
