Guys, c'mon...I've dug through some players profiles, and I see their Control stats and they have very little captures, only kills.
Isn't that what Clash and/or Rumble are for?
I know, I know, the hate may possibly ensue, but hear me out; if I see a player standing near a zone that has been captured by the other team, and they're still just standing there camping, that's not playing the objective.
I respect great players, but I don't like seeing people just running around getting kills when that's not the primary purpose of that particular game.
Edit: Thanks for all the comments. It's nice to see different people's strategies.

just play different mode man

4 Repliesthis has been going on forever this is how these people get their k/d up they know where you are and go for cheap kills in objective based game mode because they can't get the same kills in Clash because they suck at PvP
-
Control was designed in such away where neither capping points or kills is the main objective, they are things that both need someone to do them and that's why not a lot people feel bad about going around and slaughtering everyone.
-
both are important you can not simply capture points and win you must kill more of them
-
Sometimes is not necessary to cap zones over and over....get the zone and defend them. A lot of people rush B in a reckless way and you can get easy kills, chance for multiple kill supers and rockets by defending a zone. Like on Pantheon...I see people capping B and then rushing like crazy...stay there, defend it. If you have it you basically win 90% of the time.

5 RepliesI am pretty high up on the capture rankings!
-
"Capture and control, Guardian!" " Capture zones and slay your enemies!" Need I say more?
-
yeah I understand what you mean, i mainly just cap B for the team and go around the area making sure they don't cap

Edited by TomK9er: 7/22/2015 5:53:14 AMCurious, where do you see a players zone captures? Edit: I found it in the Bungie app. DTR probably gives a better indicator of what a player captures or not. After looking up my stats I'm in the top 6% of zones captured. That's about my only bragging rites in PvP.

Edited by Raphaeleddie7: 7/22/2015 7:06:22 AMCome on people play the objective for once.

I suck at crucible xD

2 RepliesIf you think that Control is bad (which I did until today), try playing a few games of Salvage by yourself (no fireteam) and tell me how you feel. I spammed the shit out of it today working my way up to 100 wins (only at 25) and I have to say that I didn't know there were this many idiots playing Destiny. I have played almost all the PvP games that I have solo without a fireteam (except Trials), and it is getting out of hand. Losing sucks, but not as much as losing because people don't know what the hell is going on. For those who are "new" to PvP, please educate yourself on the objective and play it.

8 RepliesSimple fix is to only give the capture bonus to those that actually captured the point, or set a timer that forces you to tag a capture point every 3 mins or take a 10% hit to your game stats/score or lose ammo? Something like that. Until then you will always have players that use control as a predictable pattern to get kills with less risk than the other PvP modes.

4 RepliesI dont capture many zones, but thats because im always dead, but when i am capturing a zone and 3 of my own team just run past im there thinking they clearly dont know how to play this game
-
3 RepliesI hate when dumbasses on my team try to force flag caps on my team when the enemy is watching it. Why don't they just focus on controlling the map instead of aimlessly running on objectives?
-
Exactly. Take 2 points and hold'em. It feels like nobody knows about the spawn flip. As soon as you go for the third point, the enemy team will spawn right behind the zone with the least amount of your team. It says: "capture AND defend". Not run around like a headless chicken and capture everything you find.... As soon as you got two points, go and kill the enemy as a method to defend the captures. But I know that no one who hasn't a clue how map mechanic works will read this so..... But I get your point, too many just running around for kills because they are easy to farm because lots of ppl go to control points to capture them. In clash or rumble the objective is to kill the opponent, so it's harder to stay alive and pretend to be a good player....

3 RepliesOnce a spot has been captured it should then be defended. The only way to get more captures would be to lose a zone. If properly defended that doesn't happen.
-
All i know is if i have two zones I'm gonna CONTROL those two and will always get a fat win that way
-
1 ReplyThe majority of my points come from capturing , I may not be able to kill the other team but I can capture the hell out of their zone, providing they don't shoot at me.
-
How many zone captures is acceptable per game? I usually get 2 to 4.

Edited by Doc SoCal: 7/22/2015 12:59:57 AMGotta pad that e-peen... er.. I mean precious K/D the easiest way possible, This is a problem as old as objective based FPS game modes and wont be going away... ever.

Edited by COG81 J325: 7/22/2015 1:04:15 AMim that guy who you can kill all the time but im gonna assure you, i'll capture your zones. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQELqgxkH8Q

It depends. If im on the wrong end of a pub stomp (or my team sucks) I will abandon the objectives and focus on preserving my k/d.
-
I love running control and beating a team with 0 captures and all we can do is neutralize after they cap. It makes for some seriously high kill games
-
stfu dude you are prob one of those dudes that runs into C over and over and over trying to cap the good spawn and then gets pissed at your team fpr not helping, when really you are just killing yourself over and over. Not to mention you can cap the majority of the flag and then run out, yes you should stay to get the easy 100+ points for capping but whats the difference if you just instead get a kill....?
-
I try to have B flag capped early on, whether it be by me, or by someone I'm defending from the team coming from their spawn. After that it comes down to map control. Never let them cap B? Never have to myself.
