So amidst all the weapon chaos... I stumbled across something I haven't seen anyone talking about on the forums. And if it has been discussed or pointed out already... sorry.
This quote right here, by Senior Design Lead Sage Merrill (found in the latest Bungie update)
trying to figure out how I can make Blink less frustrating to fight against. People keep showing up at my desk asking me when I’m going to remove Blink from the game, and I don’t want to do that, so back to the drawing board!
When I read this... that REALLY, I MEAN... REALLY solidified the end of this game for me. The last patch notes did it... but this just puts the final nail on the coffin.
What this shows me... is Bungie can't leave their hands off this game... and the things that make it fun and different. They cater to the WHINERS WAYYYYYY too much. I'm sorry, but this quote proves they will continue to destroy this game piece by piece until all the little kids are happy. Who knows, maybe this is the market they want to cater to. it's a mistake. EVERY game that ever caters to children (after being released for mature players) ends up dying.
And before you say git gud scrub: I have a titan and 2 hunter classes. and am mostly a golden gun user... I do like blink when I use it yes... but my complaint has NOTHING to do with taking away a perk I use to help me win.
EDIT: Anyone who is saying "he doesn't want to remove blink"... You are missing the point. The fact that it's coming across his desk means IT"S A POSSIBILITY. And then combine that with the fact they are still going to nerf it in some way... and they just can't stop F'ing with this game in areas that don't need messing with. And guess what?? if he can't find a way to nerf it... he may not want to remove it... but he may just have to.
Edit: fixed the unforgivable typo

7 RepliesMake Blink charge like a grenade or super.... once it's activated, it starts to go down and has to build back up by not using it.
-
3 RepliesYou bitch a lot for something that MAY or MAY NOT happen. Chill out dude. Most likely they'll just add it to the Titan class, that's the only way to level out the playing field without taking it out completely, which they obviously don't want to do.
-
2 Repliesadapt and overcome whiny guardian
-
1 ReplyAnd yet again, pvp whining bitches ruining the pve side of the game. Honestly, I've never once complained about blink, never once felt I had reason too, far more difficult to control and be precise than a jump or fairy glide, that's the handicap when used. All the people who complain of it are just butt hurt scrubs who can't fight. Want to counter blink? Pull out a shotty, toss a nade at your feet, jump away and shoot. Easy. Why call for a nerf to a subclass when it'll open the doors? Hmm self res too op, let's put the cool down on it to ten mins. Titan foh to op, let's nerf aoe by 50% ect. And you will have no1 to blame but yourselves, and you'll bitch the whole way

Edited by GRAYFOXX29: 8/4/2015 7:13:41 PMI never liked it before because of the learning curve but I started getting used to blink and using it more recently and I think it's really fun. I even use it in PVE now. It seems like everyone on the forums is hell bent on taking away all the elements in this game that make it unique and fun. If that's the case shouldn't shoulder charge, The Ram, Scorch melee, extra grenades, and everything else that makes classes unique be taken out. How about we just leave it all alone and enjoy the diversity?

2 RepliesJust fix shotguns! Then blink wouldn't be so broken!
-
1 ReplyEdited by lordvikagaming: 8/4/2015 6:13:14 PMThis was mentioned already weeks ago when that update came out. They are not removing blink from the game, they are trying to find a way to make it not so OP. try learning how to read properly. EDITED for a single misspelled word.

If you blink spam you can survive a retarded amount of stuff so ya its a little silly and could use a little tuning not like I care either way im a sunbro warlock
-
I mean blink isn't gonna get removed. But as an arc blade. Blink. Shotgun using cancerous player. The shit I can do using blink is kinda stupid lol. Like in the hands of someone who knows what to do. It's insane.
-
1 ReplyGod dammit I blame the Titans they're the only ones who would complain lolololol #satire for all you uptight folk
-
Nerf that crutch
-
1 ReplyI find this hilarious. Anyone whose game experience is ruined by the removal of one game mechanic should probably rethink their inability or unwillingness to adapt.
-
1 ReplyThey should just give the Titans Blink in the new subclass. Problem solved.
-
just because your ever so precious blink wont be as good as it is now, especially for your nice little shotgun, doesnt mean they are breaking it. I'm hoping that they finally make it so blink doesnt give you I-frames from stickies, and other abilities. or maybe make it so it cant outrun a max agi built arc blade?

2 Repliesyou will still be able to blink shot gun that will never change what will change even with out a blink nurf will be how forgiving that play style is right now, with the nurf to range finder and shot package you will not be able to blink in the general facinity to a person you will have to blink almost on top of them in order for you to hit them. This will make the other jumps even greater of a counter play to blink shot guns. If they do change blink the only thing I think will change is your immunity to damage while you are in the process of teleporting.
-
Wow a whiner shitting on other whiners.... classic. Honestly the game, no matter what nerds or buffs they do will still ultimately rely on gun skill, and that's fine enuf with me. It's a fun game with or without blink imo. People need to chill more
-
Blink is one of the most broken parts of this game. They should at least at more of a cooldown to it.
-
Edited by KidSixXx: 8/4/2015 2:21:34 PMA nerf for PvP is a nerf for PvE. Blink haters calling for its removal from the game really do need to go play in traffic.
-
By this logic you should probably not venture outdoors anymore cuz there's a possibility you'll get hit by a car or a piece of space debris. Just saying you can't quit stuff because it may change or youll be quitting next to everything
-
Edited by monkyken: 8/4/2015 1:14:31 PMCould be that they intend to balance blink out by offering it up to all playing options, there are plenty of ways they could cater of blink being to much. Don't jump the gun because it landed on his desk. Plenty of things land on my desk daily doesn't mean they all get the same look in or attention. It also falls to that person to justify the change if they make it, 1 person's complaint against a huge community will not cause a change.

5 RepliesNo more blink shotgunning in PvP? Hold yer hats fellas with all these incoming Nerfs + blink removal... Crucible might finally take 1 ounce of skill. That'll be the day
-
Cry.. Players will move and jump with or with out blink.. If you absolutely have to have it.. Something is wrong

And guess what?? if he can't find a way to nerf it... he may not want to remove it... but he may just have to.
No where has Bungie stated that a nerf to Blink is incoming, so not sure how you concluded "And then combine that with the fact they are still going to nerf it in some way" from Sage's comment And guess what?? if he can't find a way to nerf it... he may not want to remove it... but he may just have to Where in the world did you deduct this conclusion?? This is not a weapon or armor perk, but a subclass perk and if it's removed from the game - then they'll have to redesign both the Blade Dancer and Void Walker classes since Blink is a core perk of these classes. And no telling what's incoming with TTK. I'm sure that there are a good number of things that comes across his desk - but that doesn't mean there is even a remote possibility that something will be done about it.
"People keep showing up at my desk asking me when I’m going to remove Blink from the game..."
The problem with the quote (as printed) is that it offers no context. Maybe the people asking are simply pushing his buttons / screwing around with him in a good natured way, laughing at him because they're all aware of the cries to nerf Blink in PvP; know what he's up against. I doubt that anyone who had/has anything to do with Destiny (be it in either a large or small part) would seriously be asking when a base game mechanic is going to be removed.

Edited by RANGERX117: 8/4/2015 1:02:48 PMHow about nerfing all of PVP and not using weapons? This entire debate is stupid. If bungie keeps nerfing things in the imposible chase for balance all bungie will do is balancing out what makes the game fun. There is nothing in PVP that a player can use that can't be countered by another player. Blink is not OP.
