"They stripped the game to charge for DLC!"

Ok so recently on Facebook someone had pointed out that the fallen were using the new elder cypher exotics. All at once everyone started bitching that it was cut content and blah blah blah not even reading the cards to figure out that they are modified versions of the fallen weapons, which I pointed out. Still people griped that the game was stripped. So eventually I couldnt take it anymore and had to reply and I figured I'd share it here too. Now I am full expecting the hate to be strong here but here's the thing, I don't give a -blam!- if you wanna hate on me for this, it's the truth and you can either act like an adult or be a baby about it. And to Bungie if they see this, especially you DeeJ, this is NOT me sticking up for the prices of your DLC. They are high for not a lot of content, though I can't say anything yet for TTK but the last two haven't really been $20 a pop worthy. This is me sticking up for the you in the fact of I don't really thing Bungie stripped the game to make a paywall and sticking up for ALL DLC as an accessory to games and not needed. I've been with bungie since my first Xbox and a copy of Halo: Combat Evolved, and I love you guys but I don't wanna see you going the way of Activision ok? Here's my comment that I posted on Facebook: And for all you griping about the game being stripped, may I just point out that if the game, as it is now, was sold with ALL DLC ON DISC it would have been a multi disc game, and that means you'd have to constantly switch discs to do certain things. Now before you go off on the new version of the game getting all 3 DLCs, it will most likely have just the unlock codes for each DLC stored on that disc as well as the base game, then when you put it in your playstation you'll have a huge ass update to download. Secondly, just cause it was all planned from the beginning doesn't mean that they made the game fully and then dissected it to hide features behind a paywall. I'm pretty sure George RR Martin isn't just sitting on the manuscript for the new Game of Thrones book and just waiting, though I'm sure he has it all planned out how it'll go, maybe even has a shortened version of the timeline written down somewhere, all that's left is to fill in the rest on paper in time. Yes there are hints at all the DLC in the game; no that doesn't mean it's fully flushed out and was gutted to make money. If that was the case we would never get incremental updates to the game, as it would already be finished, adding hooks for future DLC and balancing gameplay. That's just not how programming works and while I'm no fan of the high prices of DLC it's just part of the game and you either get it or you don't have the money or you're stingy with money (not necessarily a bad thing) and don't get it. Choice is yours. They advertised this project as a ten year experience, did you REALLY think that you'd get all ten years at $60 a pop? If so you're being delusional. Third, bungie is out to make money. It's a business. Now I would like to think that if you put a bunch of money into something and sold it at $60 and then after it was released put a bunch more things into it and a bunch more money into it you'd expect to get a little more for the added content. You are lying to yourself if you say otherwise. Take it this way, when you buy a phone it comes with a charger and usually a crap set of headphones. Now afterward a new set of headphones comes out just for your model of phone, do you expect them to just hand those over saying "oh you already bought a phone, here you go at no charge!" No! You have to buy the new accessories for your phone. DLC is pretty much a video game accessory. You DONT NEED IT to play the game. But as with anything, with no new content you will get bored. That's why DLC is such a big thing in this gaming era. DLC keeps people coming back for more for essentially the same thing. Boycott it if you want, I'll be the one sidestepping you in the GameStop to pick up my collectors edition cause I like that sort of shit. For every one of you that says -blam!- it I'm not paying there will be 3 more to take your place. You're not hurting bungie. Just yourself. In the end guys, either get the DLC or don't. The only one yore gonna hurt is you, if you don't like something don't support it.

    • Finally! Someone who is willing to say what needs to be said! Now if only I could put the truth about "police brutality" on the web without getting sued, threatened, and charged with racism for stating what has to be said. Then again, this is the US of A. Living under the guise of freedom when we are slowly dieing out. Stalin got close once. What's gonna stop baby face King Kong Ew from doing it again?

    • I used to Believe It was cut from the actual game but later i learn it just something to add as a base. However I bought the expansion pass a week before the dark below. I was a fool and didn't wait till i saw review as the dlc wasn't worth the $20. After seeing the taken king was revealed I decided to see exactly how much was added. It ended up being 1/3 of the total content of the vanilla game for 2/3rd of price (it still $60 where I live) I've learned my lesson before and unless they add stuff that says otherwise I'm not getting the dlc

      • I am sick of the arguing bs... It happened now stop crying about it... Most big games do it, and for the time taken to make this game as well as the man power behind it they would have to make money from dlc's too... Sure blame them for thinking of themselves over their customers but making the game isn't just their passion, but their career and they need income. Try thinking from the creator's perspective.

      • It was stripped. It's clear it was stripped. Nobody cares though. I already bought the game and both the DLC's. If the game wasn't so fun I wouldn't pay for the DLC's but it is so oh well. Bungie should at least add monthly content for free so those who don't buy the DLC's still have new content. Maybe 1 mission a month or something like that. The options are endless for this game.

      • Ok, so um... I guess you daddy is one of the devs at bungie. The truth as you call it is obvious to everyone. Re skinned enemies and re use of levels just in reverse is very creative, so is increasing the amount of bullets the boss's can sponge and Nerfing our weapons at the same time takes a lot of hard work and tireless hours programming.

        • Man, there will always be those that stand behind the cut content argument no matter what info/logic you bring to the table. Were there things cut from the game? Yes. Does that happen during a development process? Yes. Areas were glitched into, ok cool, why is it that content was cut instead of them planning ahead? There have been some very educated people talking about this and making it beyond clear that no content was cut to be sold later but there are still a few people that believe it anyway. And by educated I mean that they're in game development, know coding and such. I'm not, but I did look into a lot of this and found nothing to support the conspiracy theory.

          • I believe without a doubt that Bungie cut content and resold it to everyone as DLC as they were already a year behind schedule according to the leaked contract between them and Activision. They are contractually obligated to provide 1 full game, 2 DLC, 1 comet expansion and 2 more DLC for every two year cycle of the game. What would you do if you were a year behind and had to provide more content than you were prepared for? Obviously you would remove parts and call it DLC to maintain your contract obligations.

            • It's been a year damn near, at this point who the -blam!- cares. Play or don't. But op for every point you have there is a counter. So don't act like your making iron clad points.

              • Have you not seen the pre release vidocs where they show you the deathsinger, osiris, and the reef, mention you can fight on mercury and saturn, and all sorts of stuff that was in DLC or isn't in the game at all? Watch that video. It was cut to give them extra time after the story writer left because he wrote a masterpiece that was too complex for their fanbase. So they chopped up the first game to give themselves 2 more years to figure out what to do. I may not be able to glitch into phobos or the tombship, but I see the location markers on the map when I load up the planets. And they have been there since I got the game.
