Quotes from the 7.2.2015 update
"On the road to launch we plan to prove that The Taken King is more than DLC – it’s a game."
"Redesigned and reimagined Strikes – Dust Palace, Undying Mind, and Cerberus Vae III – are now overrun by the Taken"
Let's get a few things straight Bungie. 1 new destination, 1 raid and old strikes from the original game with new enemies does not equal a game. That is an expansion.
You can't rely on the running a mission in reverse tactic because you've used it too much (a hangover from your Halo days) and you still aren't quantifying how many new story missions there will be? With the fiasco of the RedBull promotion meaning all players outside of the US & Canada are locked out of content that is in TTK until January, you also want those players from other territories to pay more for it.
For a group of people who are clearly intelligent enough to design games yet seem to have a problem with simple math let me remind you abou digital downloads for the UK with 20% VAT applied.

When added to the conversion of $40 into British pounds (£25.50 at current exchange) it equates to £30.60, so lets say a retail price of £30.99 (even though on release day it was £28.99 on the XBox store then changed to £39.99). But no, you want us to pay £39.99 and you wonder why people have gotten angry? Activsion is to blame in this greedy cash grab as well, but what really irritates gamers from other countries is that you haven't even had the decency to address this issue and believe me it's an important one.

1 ReplyThat's an awful lot of play time you got there... I'll be expecting you not to buy the taken king my good sir
-
Lets get one thing straight scrub. They arnt just adding recycled strikes they are adding the taken over run strikes with all new ones. Also think the price is too high? Dont buy it. Simple as that. Stop complaining.
-
Doesnt the update suggest that the old maps are being redesigned rather than being left alone? Regardless i still think ttk is overpriced for what you get, especially in comparison to the base game. Doesnt matter anyway, it will still sell well
-
1 Reply-complains about re cycled content- -uses a re cycled topic-
-
How dare they!
-
They are adding more strikes they are just remaking something so it becomes relevent again
-
There is more than just those strikes
-
There is a new strike... They are just adding the taken to the old ones too
-
1 ReplyThey arent reusing old strikes. Theyre adding in completely new strikes, but theyre stating that the Mars strikes currently, will also have Taken in them. Dont be a dumbass and learn reading comprehension, dumbass.

54 RepliesEdited by Zeezke, Harvester of Kells: 7/3/2015 12:49:05 PMAlright, here's economy. Standard of living is based on minimum wage. Minimum wage is not the same in all areas because inflation does not rise equally. So let's break this down. $1 = £0.64 Vice versa £1 = $1.56 For the sake of simplicity, Everything is going to be converted into US dollars US Minimum wage $7.25 UK minimum wage: $10.16 US price for TTK: $40 UK price for TTK: $62.50 US TTK Price / US Minimum wage (40/7.25) = 5 Hours 30 minutes of working to pay it off. UK TTK Price / UK Minimum wage (62.50/10.16) = 6 hours 9 minutes of working to pay it off. EDIT: If we went off exchange rate alone, what would this look like. UK TTK Price / UK Minimum wage (40/10.47) = 3 hours 50 minutes of working to pay it off. So now you guys work 1 hour and 4 minute less than US counterparts. That doesn't seem fair to me. I already acknowledged that you guys were over priced. I stated my solution. Same amount of work, same game. Verdict: Yes UK pays more, however the 50% price hike is marginalized by your increased income. it all actuality it's closer to a 10% increase (because you work 10% longer to pay it off). Dropping it down to £37 ($58) would eliminate any discrepancy. Suggested UK TTK Price / UK Minimum wage (56/10.16) = 5 hours 30 minutes of working to pay off TTK I find it funny when AUS complain, it completely works in there favor :) US $1 =AUS $1.33 Vice versa AUS $1 = US $0.75 For the sake of simplicity, Everything is going to be converted into US dollars US Minimum wage $7.25 AUS minimum wage: $13.01 (I'm just calling that $13) US price for TTK: $40 AUS price for TTK: $52.69 US TTK Price / US Minimum wage (40/7.25) = 5 Hours 30 minutes of working to pay it off. AUS TTK Price / AUS Minimum wage (52.69/13) = 4 hours of working to pay it off. AUS is getting hands down the best deal for this out of either of us. Now they are going to hate me for this, but note, I'm just making it fair... Suggested AUS TTK Price / AUS Minimum wage (71.72/13) = 5 hours and 30 minutes of working to pay it off. Now before you guys say, but that's only a $1.72 increase. It's not. Remember, that's US dollar. In AUS that's $95.29. So um yeah. Morale of the story, UK folks, I'm sorry, US folks, we can't do anything, AUS, stop whining. You are getting a bargain.

Don't like it? Don't buy it. Problem solved. You're welcome.
-
Do i even have to say it ? *sigh*
-
Don't buy it then. Simple.

2 RepliesIf ttk brings back the stuck at 29 experience I will be happy. And I was one of them. Max should be a rank that is earned through months of grinding or getting stupidly lucky. But I know I'm in a great, great minority on this, just my opinion. Currently taking time off to dig into my backlog and eso, but keeping hopeful eyes on these updates.
-
Uh , they said there were new strikes coming and that they were updating those specific strikes. You sound kinda stupid saying it's just gonna have updated strikes when it's not. Plus the new area is suppose to be bigger than cosmodrome and patrol-able.

3 RepliesSolid post dude. I think at this stage, weeks after the announcement and with the dust settling and tempers easing, all a lot of us want is Bungie to do just that and 'address the issue'. There is no good reason for the price disparity on a Digital product and for me although I've got my money's worth in terms of time played with this game, all DLC so far has been over priced and content light. Without the lop-sided RNG based grind for all the best gear my time invested would look totally different, it's only in realising that (like the majority of people) I've been endless chasing mostly useless trinkets, that my playtime has dropped off massively. Blindly buying content is not something I'll do ever again and given that it's content that isn't going to just vanish if I don't, I won't feel like such a mug as when I bought into the hype.
-
1 ReplyJust more pre-release hype. People have fallen for it 3 times so far with the launch of the game and both DLC packs. Bungie trots out some fancy trailer and talks some trash about how amazing the expansion will be and everyone eats it up only to realize there is only like 2 weeks worth of content before it becomes a hamster wheel again. Given TTK price and what they've said so far, I think it might jump up to 3-4 weeks of content before the expansion gets stale. The new subclasses and raid will keep people interested for a bit, but like all the other expansions, after about a month you'll start seeing the complaints of not having anything to do besides the same pointless grind. Maybe then people will finally stop throwing money into the pit. Taken King will be out for 3 weeks and then Bungie will tell you about their next season pass and fantastic DLC that is coming for $20-30, lol.

2 RepliesStill waiting for a explanation from the Exo Stranger....

1 ReplyEdited by SergioVengeance: 7/4/2015 2:12:24 AMI am impressed that Bungie actually got you scrubs to have faith in what they are selling from their update yesterday. It's like a used car salesman trying his best to sell you a super shittty car. suckers. Do you know how many games you can buy (FULL GAMES WITH CONTENT) FOR $40? Or even $20 that they are selling the "seperate" stuff for.. Damn. If this is a sign of future of consumers in the gaming industry, I feel fuuuckking terrible to call myself a gamer. Future gaming companies will see this and run this same strategy. Giving you less but for more money. It's already been confirmed the last 2 expansions were on disc already.

10 RepliesEdited by LilBlkCloud: 7/4/2015 5:08:01 AMWhole lot of fanbois on here. Guys and girls, it's actually better for the game if you don't settle. Being a tool and just scarfing down anything a company gives you is not the way to go if you want a top-notch experience. If you're just defending the company, you're an idiot, because you're not even getting a paycheck for your blind corporate devotion. Your only reward is the game itself, and it can only be made better through customer criticism.

10 RepliesEdited by crimsx0n: 7/4/2015 7:44:43 AMYou mean: New Destinations New Strike Models New Strike/s New raid New story missions New Exotics New subclasses New Crucible maps New enemy race New weapons/armour New shaders/ships New gamemodes and I'm sure I missed a few things out...
-
3 RepliesAs far as I'm concerned Bungie can shove the DLC up their ass.
-
7 RepliesWhether we wanted it or not, we stepped into a war with the Activisionians on Bungie. So let's start by taking out their commanders one by one. Pre-ordering. From what I can gather, he commands the gaming content from a Publisher outside of Destiny. He's well protected, but with the right team, we can punch through those defenses, take this beast out, and break their grip on DLC.
-
Edited by NinjaCabbage: 7/4/2015 8:00:57 AMNot to mention that story missions will get played once per character (unless you do daily heroic missions). Story missions run in reverse of old missions are Bungie's lazy standard these days.
-
4 RepliesWow, I can't wait to rerun the strikes, maybe backwards. And with the Taken as well! An entire race that consists of reskinned existing races. I don't want to tempt fate, but here's hoping that Destiny 2 is Destiny but with the ships shown from a slightly different angle while loading.
-
1 ReplySo you want to keep on playing the same strikes over and over again from year 1? I didn't think so.
