[b]READ EDIT 3 PLEASE![/b] It's the most updated form of my proposal, I've been reading everyone's responses and taking into consideration what people are saying and have tried coming up with acceptable alternatives. I also spoiler(ed) the first edit, so that you can see it if you wish, but I realize exactly how stupid the edit is, also it's to make people who posted about it not seem insane. The video that I have linked is the one from Gothalion that talks about changes that he would like to see in ToO. I am inclined to agree, mainly because I find it completely unfair for someone like myself, who is DECENT, not bad, not great, just decent at PvP and more inclined towards the IB type gameplay, to have to face people who are almost all PvP exclusive players. Those who basically play the game for the PvP completely outmatch people like myself and it's extremely frustrating as I have no chance to get the Mercury chest unless I find a pair of people who are so good that it doesn't really matter what I do, as long as I can stay alive long enough to get a few shots in. Now call me a whiner if you want, I don't really care. But I feel that it is unfair to those who aren't very good at this type of gameplay or aren't as good as those who play PvP and are highly skilled, as they have little to no chance of success. In addition those who are skilled aren't getting as much challenge as they could be getting. Say a team can typically go 9-0 repeatedly without much effort, and same with a few other teams, why pit them against those who barely scrape out wins, and might go 9-0 once throughout the entire experience in a week? Why not pit them against each other and give them the challenge that they deserve? [spoiler]Edit: I just think right now Trials is super tilted towards the best PvP players with little to no chance of those who don't play PvP as our main activity, now this is supposed to give the hardcore pvp players a challenge, I will concede that concept. However, some of the best non-exotic weapons are only obtainable via Trials, which means that those who aren't the best are basically gated out of having them.[/spoiler] Edit 2: Also take into consideration that the best PvE weapons can be found in the lighthouse as they have some of the best stat rolls on guns and burns to boot, something that isn't necessary in PvP but is damn useful in PvE. So as it is, PvE players are getting punished for not playing PvP as much and being able to go 9-0 against rather unfair odds. Edit 3: Thanks to those of you pointing out that I suck at PvP... I wasn't talking about K/D anyway, as I mostly play control and have been getting better K/D in large match based games when I play them.... that aside I wanted to add this: If there was an equivalent gear set from PoE that was suited for PvE and had good stats, rolls and burns, then there wouldn't even be an issue, it's the fact that adept weapons in the lighthouse are so good in PvE and there's nothing for PvE players of the same caliber from PoE right now. Continuing with the edit, 'git gud' or any variation of that phrase isn't helpful, here's the thing, I'm not complaining because I want trials to be easier or harder for one set of people or another. I want it so that people who have gone flawless are more likely to fight other flawless teams. [b]Say an "Ascended" buff that acts like a NF buff, and outside of PvP you glow a little, like a god almost. When you go back to play again that week, you play other Ascended players, or at least players with high score cards if there are none available on your connection level. Give those who go flawless on "Ascended" buff get another chest with higher chance for even better gear, maybe even make it have a guaranteed exotic drop or something. That way everyone who's good gets their chest, and everyone who is better than that gets a second one. It would reset each week.[/b]

  • I agree, flawless players should matchup against other flawless players . Elitist pvp'ers who don't want this are hypocrites! You don't want a skill based match simply because you get your jollies by continually stomping on casual pvp players. You cowards are the equivalent to the school yard bully who always pics on the easy kills. If you are a PVP god as you all proclaim to be why not impose your will on fellow PVP elites? That is a true contest, something you can really be proud of. BTW I don't care about the LH, I don't want to go there. That is a place for the true PVP elite. Yes I said that, that is your place I don't wish to go somewhere I have not unlocked access to. My only gripe is that the best weapons with burn are only available from the LH chest. "But Skolas has burn weapons!" What a joke! The weapons skolas drops are very rare so you have to beat him multiple times to increase the chance of getting a drop... If you are lucky. They are also inferior to what you get from the LH, they just don't compare. The LH is a guaranteed weapon with burn. Whoever though this was a good idea needs to be fired! What the hell do PVP players need burn weapons for!!! Those are for PVE!!! This is a deliberate troll by Bungie to infuriate and frustrate PVE players. Bungie is deliberately fostering discord between PVP and PVE players. The drop rates are extremely skewed, this's cannot be an accident. Bungie is doing this deliberately and all you PVP elites are doing is jumping on the bandwagon. Enjoy it while it lasts, if you feel the current system is correct then I can only imagine what your real world life is like.

    • 1. People run around with the lighthouse emblem with 0.8 KDs all the time...what is the issue? 2. Skill-based match up will actually make it harder for everyone. If you're matched up evenly with the other team...the statistical probability of you winning is 50/50. Now let's Math: 0.5^7 (minimum wins for flawless) = 0.78% so about 8 teams will get flawless out of 1000 teams or 24 players out of 3000. You think your team works well enough for you to overcome these odds?

      • I think if a team goes flawless then they should be done for the week on those characters. However I don't want more SBMM. Sure if it was implemented worse players would go up against worse teams. But it's the same for good teams who would constantly go up against good teams. I consider myself a pretty good PvP player and it is very frustrating to go up against people of my level or higher constantly. Every now and then it's nice to have a worse team to run rampant on. That's what PvP is all about, capturing that feeling (at least in pubs).

          • After playing trials I cant stand normal crucible due to the horrible lag/ping. Shots not registering or getting shot around corners are completely unacceptable occurrences even more so in trials. Whatever people propose to do in trials connection should be the highest priority.

            • It's simple. When a team gets 5 wins they should only be matched with other teams that have 5+ wins. This gives the not so great PvP players a better chance to get armour and the great players a more competitive experience.

              • Stop comparing PoE weapons with trials, we get it...prison weapons are garbage and not up to par with trials. However...there's a couple of easy raids called vault of glass (this one is actually fun!) And Crota's End(i heard people can solo this) that have [b]the best[/b] pve weapons in the game excluding ghallarhorn.

                  My suggestion might be a bit if a stretch and may have been suggested already. Nonetheless, I think it has potential in solving ToO issues. ALSO THIS IS NOT RELATED TO MATCHMAKING - sorry about that. Suggestion: Implementation of banning weapons pre-match. Similar to League of Legends or DOTA's pick and ban in their ranked/competitive games, the banning and picking of weapons in the current PvP meta shows the class and skill certain teams and individuals have; banning the current OPs truly brings the best in people's gun skill with lower than Thorn-tier weapons and the prevention of possible snowballs from one single perk. It also allows either team to create perplex mind-games with each other. In regards to the OPs (Exotic Handcannons), TTK will more or less be the same throughout each individual in the game if the team decides to ban them. To expand on what I touched on earlier, the "mind-games" either teams can pull off includes purposely banning certain weapons to compliment their objective playstyle. For example: Team A doesn't want to ban Thorn and wants to use snipers/fusion rifles to "counter" Thorn. Team A bans Party Crasher +1, Felwinter's Lie, and Matador 64. Team B bans The Last Word, Red Death, and Thorn. This leaves both teams to picking low-tier 1 and high-tier 2 weapons, which essentially keeps the TTK more or less the same. Since both teams took turns banning, the mind game here was for Team A to ban the OP shotguns and not even worry about Thorn. When it got to Team B's last ban pick, Team A essentially forced Team B to waste their ban on something they weren't worried about because all Team A banned were shotguns. The above example may be changed accordingly, but in my mind, there are 3 options of the banning phase: 1) The two teams mutually agree on 6 weapons to ban 2) Each team gets to ban 3 weapons, taking turns 3) Each individual gets to ban a weapon, taking turns (Individuals can't see what their teammates or opponents banned and the same weapon cannot be banned twice) Again, this is by far a bit of a stretch because of maybe the lack of development teams to create such a system and/or it truly may be too complicated to create in the first place since there are quite a lot of weapons in the game. TL;DR - Implement pre-match banning phase in Trials of Osiris.

                  • You've got a good post here with some legit comments for the "middle class" gamers. Sorry you're getting hated on so much. I avoid ToO bc I'm not that good at PVP. I wish there was a tier system that gave normal people a shot. I still want the elites to be recognized - they do deserve that. But I'm not saying I have a solution either - for now I'll just keep doing my thing. Sept will change the game again anyway...

                  • I don't play trials, I consider my self not yet ready for them. I'm working on it. The idea is not bad, but it should be more oriented in giving the best PvP players a chance to confront themselves with the best, rather than give not has skilled players a chance to go to the Lighthouse. The lighthouse should be elite, and most of all should be a challenge...at this point a lot of 9-0/3 times a week players are getting bored of the challenge they are facing.

                      • I agree that it should be easier for players to reach 9-0. But this isn't the best way of doing it. There would just simply be too many complaints about lag. The problem with it being hard to go 9-0 is that it locks out many players from getting the burn ToO weapons, ever. And that's a shame. This game lacks content, and to hide it away from those who aren't as skilled (note, not unskilled) as other players is unfair. [spoiler]I've been flawless as many times as I'd like, but have given up with trials as I don't enjoy the experience.[/spoiler]

                        Me and a random forum guy got my lvl 26 (28 after 3 wins) friend through flawlessly without using the mercy boon. Just get better people 

                        • ... PVE player ... PVP player ... you all got some serious issues, you know that? Its all part of the same game, normal people just play both. Trials is fine as it is, a little more variety would be nice, like in one week only scouts are allowed next week would be AR's only etc. And the Lighthouse isn't even something special, sure you get some elemental primaries, but who the -blam!- needs them anyway? All you need for pve is fatebringer and for pvp you can just use an exotic primary. ToO is just another grind with worse loot. [spoiler]elimination is cool tho[/spoiler]

                        • Bare in mind its the team that went flawless not the player. So those unlucky go guys who go flawless with a character and don't play with the same team all the time are tainted and can't go back to trials like wise what happens if some one who has already completed trials has two people who haven't does it get skill matched up higher because of that one person... Now you start getting into skill level matching and preventing people from playing together due to the damage it would do. The key to trials success is in team work.

                        • i think that each time you go into the trials you face teams with the same w/l ratio that you have, like the game keeps a record of each of your passages. so it gets progressively harder for people to continually reach the lighthouse.

                        • The thing I agree with most is the gap between ToO gear and PoE gear. Like you say if PoE stuff was better then I think a lot of people wouldn't care but when it's stuff that is designed around one activity it sucks. I get that VOG/crota gear have perks for their respective raid but they are additional perks rather than a main perk which I think is what they should have done with the PoE gear

                          • Isn't that exactly the point of Trials? To go against the best of the best and try to come out on top? I know I'll never reach the lighthouse (I'm bad at the game) and I'm fine with that. I do agree that the PoE elemental weapons are sunpar compared to the adept versions you can get from trials. There's definitely need for improvement there.

That what I just read?....also keep in mind that if you were match made to play teams of equal skill it would be harder for you to go 9-0. Only reason your getting [i]any[/i] wins now is that your playing against worse teams. [spoiler]btw, trials weapons are not the best for pve[/spoiler]

                              • Destiny finally comes out with a competitive game type and all you people cry because better Pvp players crush you casuals! This was the entire purpose of the game type to reward the top players and weed out the trash. You can easily go flawless if you play with a team you know how to move together have a game plan a majority of games are won by the team that communicates and stays together.
