So I've bitched and complained about this but it's starting affect my motivation to continue playing this game.
Preface:
I've been playing Destiny for 630 hours (according to the app)
I have 3 level 34 guardians
I almost always keep maxed out weapons on all 3 of my characters.
I participate in reforging
I have every exotic gun pre-HoW
---
How or why am I at zero weapon parts? Some of you say "I have tons how are you out?" to that I say, I am just as baffled as you.
Let's talk numbers
There were 26 exotic prior to HoW. Assuming that I only had 1 of each and I ascended them that would be 650 weapon parts. But I have 3 characters so I actually have 3 ghorns, 3 ice breaker and so on.
I would regularly collect motes of light to play the slots at the Iron Banner vendor with the Iron Banner weapons because it was fun. Reforging is no longer fun. I have tons of glimmer, tons of motes but zero weapon parts. I have 3 or 4 guns that I like but I want to reforge. But I cannot. I gave 10 or so guns max experience but I need to upgrade. However, I have zero weapon parts.
It would be one thing is weapon parts were used for reforging and ascending only but, I also need them to upgrade. There are too many things that demand weapon parts from me now that I have a surplus of almost every other material or currency, except weapon parts and this all started with house of wolves. Prior to HoW, during the 600 hours of gameplay that I've done. I've never had a problem with weapon parts. I've always upgraded my guns on all 3 of my characters and never ran out. As soon as HoW launched I ran out. There's something unbalanced when it comes to weapon parts. If you replay with "but I have plenty?" your only proving my point. Bungie really needs to address this.
Simply removing weapon parts from reforge would help. I've literally reached a stand still. As a day one player I have my armor figured out at 34 with a decent build on my 3 characters. Since I can't reforge and I can't upgrade without farming guns I'm finding that I'm getting board faster and faster with Destiny. Now that I have something else to play (batman) I'm often choosing to play batman instead of Destiny even though I still want to play Destiny. Any one else getting board because of this?

If your out of weapon parts, maybe you participate in reforging a little too much

2 RepliesLimit yourself to only upgrading stuff on one character only so that you limit yourself to upgrading a little bit per day so you can build up weapon parts , then start completely upgrading full time again it's how I do it . Also do a bunch of crucible , and raids free weapon parts and stuff

2 RepliesI'm down to a 100

I always have 0 weapon parts and 0 class materials. Sorry if I sound lazy but I don't feel like grinding vanguard strikes for them.

4 RepliesEdited by Liberty WaIk: 7/2/2015 8:15:25 AMIt appears that you are still very new to this game, thus not having many at all. There are a lot of folks with over 2000 hours of game play. Some over 2500 hours. You have barely 600 hours? Thats the answer right there. When HoW came out I went from like 7900 weapon parts down to like 5300 or so. Thats just one character.

4 RepliesStop upgrading every weapon you get just to dismantle it 5 minutes later. If you don't have any weapon parts your doing something wrong.
-
1 ReplyI really doesnt understand why people have more then 1 piece of a weapon! Thats so useless......with the destiny app you can switch weapons everytime and very easily! So dont claim about your zero Weaponparts (i have about 1500) think before you do something wrong ;)
-
Since how drops i have spend like 900 parts for rerolling lol my matador only toke 147 rerolls....
-
1 ReplyBump. Sell them for vanguard and crucible marks. I don't use them ever.
-
This is literally the exact same situation I am. Maybe the Gunsmith should sell Weapon Parts, or the Vanguards should sell them? I have all Exotics other than Necrochasm and Dregs Promise and I'm aiming to level all my Exotics but I have no weapon parts to max them out :(.

4 RepliesIf you have a ton of glimmer, just buy weapons from the vendor and dismantle. No?
-
1 ReplyGo on patrol. You can rebuild your stock in an hour or two.
-
That makes sense, why would you need wepon parts to resemble a wepon
-
I think the problem with the ones that have weapon part shortage is that they reforge every weapon they get. I've rerolled about 6 weapons only. I'm still well over 4k weapon parts. I just don't see the need of rerolling every weapon I get.

1 ReplyA lot of people are having this issue. I spent the better part of last night glimmer farming and buying the ToO rocket launcher. Up to about 200 weapon parts. I'm being more stingy with reforges. I have an addiction.
-
5 RepliesBuy the trials of osiris weapon and dismantle it. 25000 glimmer can get you over 100 weapon parts easy..
-
I had 3000+ before how dropped. Less than 100 now. SOOOOO many rerolls
-
Omg my problem exactly I thought I was the only one out there.
-
1 ReplyI keep running out of motes
-
I would love to reforge for motes and glimmer! But I'm not really even that excited about the perks soo...
-
Reforge every new weapon I receive worth keeping, played since midnight release and still have around 2.5k weapon parts after upgrading all my main weapons. My issue is glimmer, I never have enough.
-
How many strikes have you done? I notice you get more engrams from doing the whatever animal strike. I have done a little over 500 strikes and have close to 2000 weapon parts still.
-
I guess if you've got tons of glimmer to piss off, you could buy weapons for the Gunsmith and dismantle them for weapon parts.
-
1 ReplyI'm having the same problem
