  • I am seriously getting pissed off with the complaining about "TTK is too expensive" It isn't. In no way shape or form is it too expensive. You are just too entitled. I have played this game since release and still will into TTK, I have paid over a hundred dollars on games that I beat in a day or two and have no real replay value, so for me to now to be on my hundred dollar mark and been playing for almost a year I am more than happy to hand over $40 to get another three months play. Hell, I will probably end up buying the collectors edition too. If you can't afford it, sorry, but that is not Bungie's problem nor mine. If you don't like it I am sure there will be another Call of Honour, or Assassins fable or Final Fantasy 1074. Really take your whinging elsewhere. Bungie, I do request one thing though. Something nice for day oners and ghost editions.

    • I'm done with destiny come September. I'll get my money's worth of house of wolves. Which isn't possible. But I quit. Many great games. Don't have the time commitment to play destiny when I'll have CODBO3, I'm still working on witchier, fallout 4,rainbow six, guitar hero. Too many good games

              • SO let me get this straight... We're here complaining about having spent $80 for the guardian edition to get both Dark Below AND House of Wolves which was only $20 more than the base game at $60 for TWO expansions? And now we're going even further and complaining about The Taken King being another $40 (which, by the way, the hard copy includes all of Destiny BEFORE The Taken King)? Let me be pretty transparent here and be honest because I'm getting really sick of hearing people complain about Destiny and how much it costs to play... One: For those who play Call of Duty every year and buy all of the DLC packs at about $15 a piece... That's a $60 game plus what they're now bundling as a season pass for another roughly $40-50... That's ALREADY $110 at MINIMUM for a Call of Duty game and all of its content... Bungie gave you Destiny and ALL YEAR ONE Expansions for $80 minimum... Okay, so why aren't we trolling on Call of Duty right now instead of Bungie? By the way, BOTH properties distributed by Activision who makes the call for pricing, etc... So go after Activision, not Bungie... Anyway, back on track... Two: The Taken King is not just an expansion, it's an entirely new Destiny... Destiny 2.0 if you will... So let me get this straight again... Instead of releasing a $60 brand new Destiny that makes the ENTIRE PREVIOUS YEAR obsolete just about like Call of Duty, you guys want to complain about a $40 game that includes all previous game and expansions on one disc with The Taken King?! Let's say that Bungie pulled a Treyarch/Infinity Ward and made us pay ANOTHER $60 for the base game and ANOTHER $40-50 for the DLC... Complaints registered, then overruled because you'll buy it anyway because it's Call of Duty and why do we wonder why it sells top of its market EVERY FRIGGIN YEAR?! Three: This may be the most drastic point I have coming from one online game to another and bear with me here because I know most of you don't like the phrase MMO applied to Destiny so I'm going to compare it based off the fact it has expansions LIKE an MMO instead of saying that it is because it's a "shooter with online RPG elements" according to Bungie... Anyway, to the point and I've already lost half of you because of that comparison but bear with me please... I bought WoW when it first came out... $50... Expansion ONE: $40 ($80 for a mostly DIGITAL collectors edition mind you)... Expansion TWO: $40 (Again, another $80 mostly digital collectors edition).... Expansion THREE: $30 because it was on sale (AGAIN another $80 CE mostly digital content).... Expansion FOUR: $50!!!! AGAIN WITH ANOTHER $80 CE!!!! Let's add that base price up for ONE FULL GAME AND FOUR EXPANSIONS: $210 JUST FOR WORLD OF WARCRAFT AS A GAME ALONE WITH ALL EXPANSIONS!!! Now, take that and add the... ooooohhh.... ELEVEN YEARS I have been playing the damned game at $15/month give or take roughly allowing for three years total break time and you get 8 YEARS of paying to play! 15/month * 96mths = $1,440!!!! JUST TO PLAY THE DAMN GAME! That brings my total cost of playing a game that includes expansions up to $1,650! Divide that by the 8 years and you get $206.25 JUST TO PLAY WORLD OF WARCRAFT EVERY YEAR! Now, on point three, I know many of you will cry out, "BUT THAT IS AN MMO!" That point you offer in counter-argument is irrelevant as I have already stated we are solely looking at a game that has expansions and wants you to buy them as they come out to play them... Bungie at this point has only asked for $80 in your first year of gameplay plus expansions compared to Blizzard demanding roughly $206.25 out of my wallet to play its games over the past eleven years... Yes, there is a huge time span gap between their expansions and yes that is for eleven years of gameplay, but consider this: Bungie has only asked you for $80 in your first year of experiencing TWO expansions where Blizzard often asked for us to play for a couple years and THEN dish out another $40 on TOP of the $15/month we were already paying... So even in a one year with no expansions that is still $50 for base game plus $15*12 months = $180 in your first year of WoW back when it first started with NO expansions... My point is this: Your grand total at minimum for playing both Destiny AND the Taken King is going to be roughly $120 vs the $230 that I had to spend just to play WoW in its first year... That and Bungie plans on making this game last a decade and have already been kind enough to give you TWO expansions for $20-25 vs $40 for ONE and now The Taken King which includes everything for just $40... SO if you HAVE been playing, you get cool stuff exclusive to loyal players... If you HAVEN'T been playing, then cool, you get everything for $40... Either way, I don't care if you're a new player or old one, Bungie has CERTAINLY NOT ripped anyone off with the price of the Taken King and all this bellyaching and crybaby BS needs to go because you COULD be paying for server costs, development costs, and even GAME TIME which Bungie has REFUSED to require of you (Don't you dare throw PSN in my face because that was SONY'S decision to require pay to play multiplayer and it's STILL only $50/year which comes out to a measly $4.17/month which is HARDLY 1/3 of what WoW charges)... Anyway, blast away, you'll not get any further responses from me, but I just wanted to throw down some mathematical figures as to why all this crybaby BS is really pointless and you're crying over spilled milk... Boohoo, I payed $40 for every Destiny expansion to date and can play for $4/month now... Least it ain't your soul... (PS: YES, I KNOW WoW changed it up and offers a complete package now for all the previous expansions, but that's AFTER they took all that money for the players who are playing it FIRST and that's EXACTLY why I chose that math to use for this post because it is the EXACT same situation as Destiny right now: You have current expansions being released that people are paying for NOW and not LATER... Good example of the current model of WoW vs Current Destiny would be Taken King for $40 and WoW all the way up to Mists and not including the most recent expansion is $10 on sale plus Draenor which is $30 = $40)

                • Does anyone know if buying the ps3 version of the taken king will give me the ps4 version for free like TDB and HoW did? I'm getting ps4 for Christmas and I don't wanna pay for the taken king twice because it's 40 dollar each so it'd be a total of 80 dollar.. So does it transfer like the previous dlc does?.. The thing that worries me is the part store page for TDB and HoW say they give the ps4 version but the the taken king page doesn't.. Another worry is bungies digital upgrade page makes no mention of the taken king and whether buying it on last gen gives you it on next gen for free or not..

Because Bungie doesn't set the prices based on what Glenbard is willing to pay.

The simple answer to your question is that people have already bought the game. No way they change the price now and give up known revenue.

                              • I think most people are buying it, I know I will. I won't be buying the emotes, emblems and class item pack though. I don't think anyone has read the part where it says those class items will only be useful to new guardians. Spend your money how you like, but lower your expectations of what you're going to get. It's not a full game.

It's priced that way since bungie/Activision know destiny fanboys will buy whatever they shit out no matter what. Now while they say "I'll do whatever I want with my money" or "it's chump change" that basically tells them "hey I'll buy basically whatever for any price, and I'll defend you on whatever"
