I'm not a day 1 guardian, but I'm not a "noob". I've put my time in. I've taken down aethon and crota multiple times. I've leveled 4 guardians to level 34(deleted 1 so my girlfriend could try destiny). I've collected almost all of the exotics, both weapon and armor. I've faced down all that destiny has to offer multiple times over.
So I would like to know if what is actually considered a veteran.
What is the criteria for being a veteran?
Is it how many how's are logged?
How long someone has owned the game?

55 RepliesYou are a veteran if you saw Xur sell the Gjallarhorn and said "I don't really need a rocket launcher right now".
-
Anyone with both expansions who play the game before TTK comes out is what I consider a vet.
-
1 ReplyIf you can list the 3 "loot" locations, with the order of their demise, then you can consider yourself a veteran.
-
5 RepliesWhen you did flawless on vault of glass and not crota

I played beta and still have less than 3k grimoire. This game was pretty damn boring back then.
-
You are a veteran. Christmas noobs are no longer noobs at this point. I'd have to say if you started between September and January you are now a veteran. Day ones are just slightly more veterany.

Does it really matter? It's nothing more than people wanting a way to feel superior to others when it really has no bearing on anything at all.

330 RepliesEdited by Jutsu: 6/23/2015 5:44:36 PMA Veteran... 1. Raided the Vault of Glass in its prime, when - at least - the Templar was still cheese-able, when the Chatterwhite and Radiant Light combination was a staple of supremacy, and you seemed to be impossibly adept at the obtainment of the exact same rewards. 2. Battled through an endless stream of repetitive strikes because the algorithm which determined them was incapable of realizing you'd been through them 5 times prior, and consecutively. 3. Journeyed through the galaxy without want or need for the weapon-of-mass-destruction known as the Gjallarhorn, because it simply was not a necessity for anything, and thus you could forgo its weekend sale for a single of its more desirable and Primary alternatives. 4. Laughed or weeped with the Sunbreaker invasion. 5. Struggled desperately for the acquisition of upgrade materials, in a time where it was required that they be physically and solely sought after by you. 6. Triumphed in the Crucible with the mighty and seemingly matchless Suros Regime, and reigned chaos upon the feeble Thorn users, only to be outclassed by the one and only sexy Vex(y) Mythoclast. 7. Forfeited countless engrams to the greatest boss of them all, The Cryptarch, for mere rares and uncommons, but redeemed them in the wild unknowns of the Loot Cave. 8. Endeavored harshly with only the handful of bounties able to be carried. 9. Exalted those with the Grimoire Score of 2000. ...If any of these apply to you and here you stand, you, Guardian, are - not only a Veteran, but irrefutably - a Legend. CatJutsu

1 ReplyIf you have a higher grimoire score than me, you're a sweaty guy with no life probably in low income housing or his mom's basement. If you have a lower grimoire score than me, you're such a -blam!-ing scrub you filth casual, git gud you stupid noob.

Edited by ogj0nny: 6/24/2015 2:54:13 PMI consider someone with 1000 to 1500 hrs a vet.. some ppl can be noobs and still be really good at the game tho
-
2 RepliesI would say if you have played destiny pre-DLC, and still are, you've earned the title of "veteran".

If you remember the tragic death of the sky watch loot cave, then you're a veteran.
-
Your a veteran to everyone who's played for a shorter period of time than you, and a rookie to everyone that's played longer
-
Your a veteran in my book.
-
Thinking you're a badass at lvl 8 with an inventory full of blue items saying, "I hope I can keep all this sweet stuff"

18 RepliesFrom the preorder page in case you were curious about Bungie definition:
*TO BE ELIGIBLE TO RECEIVE THE VIP REWARDS, PLAYERS WILL NEED TO HAVE AT LEAST ONE LIGHT LEVEL 30 CHARACTER OR OWN BOTH EXPANSION I AND EXPANSION II ON OR BEFORE 08/31/15 AND PURCHASE AND PLAY THE TAKEN KING ON OR BEFORE 02/01/16.
-
Truth is that Veteran = anybody who's been playing for as long as or longer than you.
-
2 RepliesI go by this: - A pioneer is someone who has played and/or finished every Bungie game. - A seasoned veteran is someone who has played Destiny before release, during the Alpha/Beta stages of the game. - A veteran is someone (myself) who has played Destiny since the day it came out. - A Christmas noob is self explanatory. - A noob is someone who buys the collectors edition and makes the community go insane for many reasons.
-
4 RepliesIf you were 30 before dark below If you were 32 before house of wolves If you were 34 before the taken king Imo you must have done all 3 to be considered a vet.
-
5 Replies1.Day one 2.Collected ALL raid gear before next available dlc 3. Knows how to wield all relics 4. 500+ hours minimum 5. One of each character
-
1 ReplyWell in Bungie's terms, anyone who purchased both expansions or has at least 1 lvl 30 character by the time TTK launches.
-
There is no criteria. It is all what people tell to themselves. Fate of all fools

Edited by TheWavetwister: 6/24/2015 12:33:42 PMA Veteran is someone who has experienced years of a particular thing. Destiny Veterans do not exist.

Did you participate in Alpha/Beta? You're a Veteran. Day 1 Player? Seasoned Soldier but your tour of Duty hasn't ended Yet. Day 2 Player and beyond? FNG scrub.
