(our) version of TTK is $40
(their) version of taken king + destiny+ expansion 1+ expansion 2 is only $60.
We pay in total $135 and they pay in total $60 how is that fair?
Screw bungie and their (reasonable pricing)
They are favoring the people who just stumbled upon it over their (fans) who preordered the game and payed so much money and put in so many hours.
But why does is matter? -blam!- me right
Doesn't even matter I'll still end up buying it
How come there is no collectors edition without destiny and the other two expansions.

1 ReplyEdited by Whoops: 6/23/2015 4:31:41 AMIt called depreciation, you've had a whole year of content they don't get. All of those events and such, every Xur sale, they missed out on. So it is fair because they are charging people less who getting less out of the game. You are not entitled to more simply because you bought the game a year before. That's what people here have, a wrongful sense of entitlement. Grow up and realize that companies have to make a profit and the best way to do that is to attract new customers, not to pander to those whose money they already have. Odds are year one players will buy TTK simply because of the time they've already invested in the game, so a smart business practice is to try to draw in more players with an appealing package with all the DLC for $60. It's only a game, it's only business, and if you don't get that then feel free to stop playing and stop posting.

Destiny has never been the most popular game if you know what I am saying.
-
7 RepliesThey get one year less of content. Everything drops in price. (is it fair that people were able to buy the matter chief collection for $40 I paid $240 for the same content!) If you don't understand the basic economy at play here then your an idiot.
-
It's fair that they pay for a devalued product. It's not fair how far and quickly bungie/activision devalued their own product.
-
Yes it is absolutely fair. They put an attractive price to get new players onboard. This is a very common strategy used in business. These posts are ridiculous and plain ignorant
-
Luke Smith said a lot of stupid things, but he did make one good point. If you already bought Destiny you've already experienced stuff that new players will never get to see. You've gotten 6+ months of play time already. You got to do VoG and CE back when both were brand new and no one had any idea how they worked. You got to experience the game new and fresh. You got to collect weapons that are no longer available. But mostly you got to play the game. That's what you paid for. New players will pay less, but that's how it works. That's how video games have worked for over twenty years. No one should be surprised by that. You aren't being robbed, and it's ridiculous to think that you are.

Edited by Jake cant shoot: 6/23/2015 3:42:04 AMAll this could have been avoided if they made ttk standalone for EVERYONE. New players and old. Could still have the collectors editions without having to rebuy the entire game

1 ReplyEdited by GraciousEel761: 6/23/2015 2:47:28 AMAnswer: Yes. People who are new to the game miss out on all but the bare bones that the previous content has to offer. There are no public events for TDB or HoW after the Taken King drops. Endgame content is severely reduced, because you are not able to hit level cap with the previous raids/poe. So although they are getting all the missions, maps and access to the previous endgame content, they are not getting to grind it out, which is what you basically do with Destiny. The argument is not how much content the game has, but whether or not it is fun to grind it out.
-
2 RepliesSo you want them to charge full price for old content.....are you a basket case? Why can't they have an incentive to get this game why does the forums consist of having jealous pricks?
-
This is why i didnt pre order it
-
2 RepliesTell me, how would you change that?

Bargain movie bins are a rip off too! I bought the my little pony collection on DVD a year ago when it came out and now they are selling it for 1/5 the price! It's a business dude. They aren't working full time shifts so we can have everything free. There's no monthly subscriptions, no in game purchases, so how do expect them to keep expanding with no funds. They make their money off new people buying the game so there needs to be a competitive advantage. You think there will be anyone that buys a year old base game for $140? Economics 101 says not very many people. People need to stop complaining and think logically. Do you want more content? Or do you want another COD that has a new, fully priced game, released every year? On top of that people pay for add ons to games like cod which have a couple new maps and some new guns. Thinking of it logically, it's much better this way by allowing for the base game to expand and not have a full priced game with nearly no difference but maps and the ability to jump higher each year like the cod series does

I payed 69.99 for the digital copy during the second week it came out
-
I'm ok with them getting a discount. Who's gonna pay full price for a game a year after it came out? The only issue I have is if you want the digital stuff from the collectors edition, you have to repurchase content you already have. Why isn't there an option to buy the expansion and new collectors content without paying for destiny, TDB and HoW?

1 ReplyI read that article. Gonna be honest, this Luke guy seems kind of high and mighty with a dash of douche. However, I get what theyre doing. They're anticipating that day one players are gonna be like a grandpa and bragging about 'i remember when I first went toe to toe with crota'! And THATS gonna be worth the tag veteran players paid...it seems in the future, they are phasing out certain things that are currently in the game and they will no longer be available to the newer players. Whether it be weapons, gameplay, whatever. Im sure that kind of thing matters to some people, but destiny is a game...not a lifestyle. At least, for me. Homeboy Luke may pay 20 bucks for his WoW character to tap dance, but thats not really my thing, personally. On the other end, homeboy Luke most likely isnt paying for it. He can talk about 'value' all he wants, but I have a weird feeling Bungie employees arent paying to play the content they create. Which makes sense, but the perceived value is just that: perceived. I can be wrong...these are just my thoughts. He also stated that there is much more to be revealed. Maybe that includes something for vets? And really, I could care less if new players get the 3 exotics that already exist. Still plenty of time left for Bungie to redeem themselves. And I really haven't been disappointed so far.
-
4 RepliesDay one players got to experience the shit new ffs. Bunch of entitled retards around here.
-
4 RepliesIt came out a year ago what are you retarded? Next time you like a game just wait a year to it can drop in price and you can laugh at all the people that paid full price...
-
7 RepliesUgh you're not being robbed. Day one adopters always pay more. This is simply a GOTY version of Destiny. The formula is nothing new.
-
10 RepliesStupid post and poll. This is really easy to understand so let's see if you get it. Have you ever heard of a GOTY edition of a game? They are generally cheaper than the original launch title and tend to have all dlc's for free. So tell me why is it ok for other games to do that but not destiny? You seem to be very self entitled.
