So Luke Smith (Lead designer) basically said that Bungie know's it's screwing over the fans/current players and that they're perfectly fine with doing so. (Original article: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2015-06-22-destiny-the-taken-king-director-defends-40-expansion-price-tag
Does that change your mind about buying TTK? Comment below.
38% of players are pre-ordering digital content (admittedly, I don't know why you'd pre-order unlimited digital content)
31% of players are waiting for reviews so they don't get screwed over again.
31% of players are done with Destiny.
I felt compelled to point out that games like Skyrim give you easily ten times the content for a $30 expansion, $10 less than the base TTK price.
DeeJ: Simple question for you; come September 15th 2015 are you reducing Destiny's DLC on XBL/PSN to the $5-$10 range and the base Destiny game down to $10? If not you are forcing some day one players to buy TDB and/or HoW for $20-$35/$40 and then charging them $40 additionally for TTK. This is my major issue. It's price gouging. I'd appreciate it if you or someone at Bungie would settle this issue.
Either set TTK to $20 or reduce the price of the pre-existing DLC.
Additional info in! Someone has unearthed E3 video footage from 2013 when Destiny was first revealed. (https://youtu.be/uHhR3kkf1uQ) Watch it yet? If not you really should since it shows the 3 "new" emotes (clap was confirmed in Luke Smith interview). E3 2013 people! This was even more content ripped out of vanilla Destiny to be sold off as DLC but this time it's behind a $40 premium edition paywall.
Disclaimer: Any money thrown at the screen will be donated to starving children in a third world nation.
Additional info per weekly update: Bungie is selling the digital goods from the collector's edition for $20 USD. That's the same price increase for the disc version of vanilla to Collector's Edition but doesn't come with the physical items (worth much more than some token emotes, shaders, and class items) that new players get for the same price increase. Thoughts?

If he doesn't get towed back into line, then I may be considering ending with ttk. I've preordered and I recently bought borderlands handsome collection to plug the 3 month gap. Bungie has 3 months to repent, or I end with ttk - probably....
-
Same bump to get this up Wanna see how many sheeps in this game lol
-
Nope, Witcher 3, Elder Scrolls Online and Batman.
-
Should have a, "wasn't buying it anyway option" Personally due to the price tag. And confirmed from the interview
-
3 RepliesUnfortunately I already pre-ordered TTK. But I spent $40 just for the expansion. No way am I paying for the game again just for emotes. I'm glad I didn't after reading that interview.
-
This made me sick
-
I've been looking for a new game to obsess over, and now I have angry motivation to do so. Time for a new MMO.
-
I've spent the last 17 years paying £30-40 for a game, playing it for like a week - a month Max (sometimes a single weekend) before completing or getting bored of it. Say a month at £30 for the minimum end of the scale. Destiny has been out for 9 months = £270. (this hasn't even accounted the months I'll spend on TTK) Original cost me £40, extension 1 and 2 cost me £35 and TTK cost £40. For the slow among us, that equals £115 for a game I've played consistently for those 9 months. Yeah sometimes the rewards suck dick and the lag/drops are controller smashingly frustrating but for the amount of entertainment I've had its a decent price. Who cares about emotes, they will just be another badge of the noob who will never understand the grind that was required just to get to level 30 in the beginning. Yeah, the dude didn't present himself well in the interview but interviewers are asshats the majority of the time picking at things to get a rise.
-
Now I'm waiting for them to backtrack. You can't tell your longtime fans to fuuck themselves and not have to backtrack at least a little
-
i'm gonna get TTK but that interview was just outrageous.
-
15 RepliesThe interview confirmed that I made the right decision by pre-ordering.
-
Nop not getting it until they prove it's worth it bungie and this Luke smith guy can go jump
-
To be honest I was really questioning weather to but Ttk or not, so thanks Luke Smith for helping me make my decision. I will not be paying for anything else..
-
7 RepliesUnfortunately i fell right into their trap and already bought it, i would un-buy it if i could.

Edited by abelsinh: 6/22/2015 10:12:49 PMWhile I'm disgusted at the way Luke Smith spoke, I really enjoy the game and I'm buying the expansion. However, I'm doing it carefully, and depending on the content, it might be the last thing I buy for this game...
-
I think he was getting offended with the aggressiveness of the guy interviewing him. I say that but I also need to say he should have been more professional and thought about the fans who are already mad. Now I need to remove all backing to my opinion by saying I'm still gonna buy it. Not buying the one with content I've already paid for but I'm buying the standard one.
-
You know I was going to shell out cash for the CE but after reading this I'll just stick with the disc version I have. Don't get me wrong I'm getting ttk but the entitlement here bewilders me. I bought the CE of batman. The dlc comes out for six months. With ttk you'll probably be done and all leveled up within 2 months and that's pushing it... Bungie I know many of the old employees are gone but what happened to the old bungie that made Oni Halo or marathon even? They preached that the gamers came first in their quest for world domination and now it seems that activisions influence is almost worse than microsofts. I hope things get better for you guys

That eurogamer interviewer was an ass
-
I just want a strange coin.
-
I have already pre ordered and paid for it but this makes me which I hadn't. The arrogance is high with the Bungie people apparently. I did not repurchase content I already have though and I will not purchase content I already have. They just spit in out faces with that imo, since the collector stuff should be more for the people who have been here, not for people just getting the game, though they should have the option. We should not have to repurchase most of the game to get the collectors items especially considering most of the people I would think would want it have already been with Destiny for a while.
-
After that interview, I just found a new game to play, nuff said. If this thing isn't a complete failure, then I know this community is screwed.
-
I'll be honest, I had pre-ordered the all singing, all dancing version. Cancelled that now, I want to buy the download version but Bungie have 3 months to convice me its worth it. Long live Halo.

Bump for visibility
